Keeping Robert for 3 more seasons while this team is losing 90-100 games is just about the dumbest thing they could do. The return of assets in a Robert trade could set this team up for a nice run of sustained success, and if they fail we’re in the same spot we would have been anyways.4 points

Nice to beat Boston. Weather where I'm at is finally nice, not going to be watching too much rest of the way I'd imagine as after work it's gonna be BBQ and beers and buds. Hopefully we can flip some of these guys that are playing OK like Sheets so we can root on some new faces come late Summer as the days start to fade...2 points

I was hoping Benintendi would stay on it. Perpetually. Someone needs to give him a command like I do to my dog. STAY. Good boy. No, stayy...2 points

I can't remember the last Sox TV announcer I disliked. Why should they bother me if they entertain me or inform me ? Life is too short to cry over so many things. Back to the ashram ?2 points

I lived in that part of the world in 1972 and saw many of those games on TV. What I'll never forget is how well the Phils played whenever Carlton started. But he was one great pitcher.2 points

4 homers by Robert since he’s back, he and Crochet are the guys you should build around, not trade, the only thing is Robert can’t stay on the field. The Sox should hire the best personal trainer they can find for Robert, I’d also probably move him to right field so he wouldn’t have to cover so much ground.2 points

The only absolutes here are that Robert is incredibly talented, we have to trade him and there's no way to time it correctly because he can't stay healthy. His health dictates that we have to take the best package possible and hope for the best. It's just not a situation where you can make any definitive judgements about the quality of the trade when it happens.2 points

It's a bit over the top but IDC .I like homer announcers . His enthusiasm is kind of refreshing . Nothing wrong with having a positive attitude about a win.2 points

Not at all, he was just doing the interview. Plenty of reasons to not care for Schriffen as a broadcaster, but this is kind of a lame thing to just throw out there.2 points

i did some accidental research while looking up why morneau won the mvp in 2006 (when they went on a historical run due to him and the white sox a decent collapse) and something that stuck out because the white sox have used almost a historical number of starting lineups and pitchers and etc. this year in 2006 after the world series they only used 37 different starters including pitchers and the league average was 44 and the second closest was 42 outside of garcia/garland/buehrle/vaqzuez/contreras only two other pitchers started games and they pitched 2 and 1 games respectively, brandon mccarthy and charlie haegar (this is is the most insane stat imo that no one got hurt) and all of them had mid 4 ERAs while the offense was mashing still never gave any rest to any of the starters juan uribe played the least amount of games in 2016 at 132 out of regular starters 4 of our 4 highest played bench players batted between 280 and 330 so is it possible ozzie ran the same group to the ground after the championship and all those extra games and wear and tear of winning the championship? https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/2006.shtml I just thought it was an interesting enough distraction to think about from the rest of this season and recent past and also a bit of odd statistical hindsight on what we thought would be a power house. Having five starters start all of your games with extensive innings seems insane in retrospect and having 4 guys off the bench batting high enough to start for most teams but barely getting playing time or traded for a championship caliber team is also worth talking about. I was sure that team was going to win 164 games. If I was off on any statistics feel free to correct me I just was kinda amazed by the topic matter, this was also a year when almost everyone in the ALC had 3-4 mvp candidates but I digress. That was a hard year but a weird one too.1 point

ez win. why don't they just hit home runs more often? are they stupid?1 point

This - if Robert is playing at a high level and Orioles offer Holliday plus another guy fine…that isn’t happening though. Let Robert mash and than see what you get at a later point. Now if Robert goes on an absolute tear and a team is offering like 1 top 20 guy, 1 top 50 guy, 1 back end top 100 guys, international slot and picks, plus another 2 rawer guys who could develop fine by me. But like one top 100 plus two other top 200 guys…not doing it for a guy they have around for 3.5 more seasons who at some point during that window will put up a 6 plus war season (trade him whenever that season happens)1 point

Exactly my thoughts. We have promising pitching in the minors, a few players that can be decent and the best free agent class in years....oh wait.1 point

Why is it stupid ,? The runner missed 1st base and advanced to 3rd on the wild throw . If the replay showed Grifol the runner missed 1st you appeal it to get the runner at 3 who is now at 3rx off the bases. The problem was the execution. You have to make sure the runner at 3rd is not getting a big lead when you throw it to 1st and you have to make a firm accurate throw. The throw which should be routine was on the foul side of 1st base . Vaughn missed it so he either wasn't aware there was an Appeal play on or he just whiffed on the throw. Too hard to tell by every replay of the appeal . Basically terrible execution but the decision to appeal was sound.1 point

Confusing winning percentage with talent/potential. Quite often not a very clear correlation at all...well maybe Sox affilates in 2021-22-23.1 point

Now he’s reversing course after the flat comments and the players disagreeing with him. What a snake. He is just trying to say anything to save his job.1 point
