Thorpe's MLB debut. I am 6th row behind Sox' dugout. I'm gonna be giving it to Pedro all game.13 points

Well, according to Harold, pitchers love Maldonado. I only care about Crochet and Fedde, here's who caught them. Crochet: Lee - 8, Maldonado - 7 (including his 3 worst starts of the season). Lee has caught his last 6 starts. Fedde: Lee - 9, Malonado - 55 points

I couldn't care less how great anyone thinks the clubhouse is when the record is 17-50. Apparently, it isn't that important.5 points

His arm speed on that changeup is absolutely incredible. It looks exactly like his fastball. He might have the best changeup I've ever seen.4 points

Correct. What clubhouse has been "good" at 17-50? It almost would be more alarming if the clubhouse WAS in a good spot at 17-50. It shouldn't be.4 points

I fell asleep on my couch watching the game. Woke up right after the homer in the 8th making it 4-0,, went to bed thinking this one was in the bag. Is the Schriff OK? God do they suck.4 points

Give me a pitcher like this 10/10 times over a “pitcher” like Kopech. It’s fun to throw 100+ but if you have no idea where it’s going and have no secondary pitches who gives a s%*#.3 points

Whenever we see both Lee and Maldonado in the lineup, I wonder if it's a mandate from Getz to play Maldonado or if Pedro is just that stupid. Or both.3 points

i'm guessing in the next 8 hours Thorpe will either be a bust, or worthy of a 15 year extension.3 points

I don't really buy either of those. For one, at best, Brian Anderson and Aaron Rowand put up very similar defensive metrics in 2006 for their respective teams, and everyone agrees Brian Anderson had a good/great glove in CF. Offense wasn't the issue in 2006, it was the pitching staff and defense, specifically when Mackowiak was in CF. Second, Obviously at that point Frank was just a DH. Thomas in 2006: .270/.381/.545, .926 OPS with 39 HR's Thome in 2006: .288/.416/.598, 1.014 OPS with 42 HR's, and provided much-needed balance in that lineup hitting from the left side. Thome/Rowand was a good move and still is today. Was pretty well documented Ozzie didn't like Anderson, but his bat wasn't hurting them with a stacked lineup around him.3 points

That is immaterial to who is manager though. But even if you had a couple of stable (not even great) relievers at the back of this pen, a game like last night, and the two Wrigley games the Sox most likely win. The last week or so Leasure and Kopech have traded off blowing late leads, and when they were too tired to do it, other guys like Tanner Banks stepped up their game to do it for them. But again, I have yet to hear a thing about how Pedro manages a game that Ozzie wasn't just as bad at. We all know he started horrible vets over rookies for way too long. He managed his bullpen awfully. He ran sub-optimal line ups out there so often, they got a nickname. I guess maybe the clown show could have distracted some of the negatives swirling around this team, but don't forget when things got really bad, Ozzie didn't hesitate to push someone else under the bus to save his own ass. And then when things got really bad, he left.3 points

So Moncada hasn't been on the team since April 9th even though he's still in the dugout, clubhouse and is still getting checks from the White Sox. Got it.3 points

So the evidence for this "toxic clubhouse" is an article written last year accusing 2 players of being lazy. Combined, those 2 players have played 27 games this year. Yeah, solid argument, guys.3 points
-
Look if we are going to pretend that a "lack of evidence" is somehow evidence, and then handwave away anything that actually serves as evidence, by those standards there is no evidence that the Sox lockeroom isn't a toxic mess either. But I think the player survey's, coupled with actual player statements are telling.3 points

Or, they might really like Maldonado and feel terrible for him. Again, no reason to make things up.3 points
-
If you are in talks with the Phillies on Robert it has to start with Aidan Miller, Painter, and Caba right? Abel's stuff backed up big time. I guess Justin Crawford could be in the mix as well.3 points

I think you underestimate the number of people hate watching. I personally know a lot of people who are watching games (some not even Sox fans), but it’s for all the wrong reasons. A lot of fans are really sick of ownership/management and are kind of enjoying this plane crash.3 points

Y’all remember Kopech’s debut vs the Twins? It’s been all downhill after that. Dude will always be a head case3 points

The constant negative take on every prospect from the same person/people is getting old AF. plenty of legit reasons to hate this organization, we don’t need to put a negative spin on every. single. prospect.3 points

Do people realize Pham was in a bad slump when he got hurt and was down to .3 fWAR and was basically on a 1.5 fWAR pace? Like he's a decent player, which stands out here, but it's not like he's going to put up a 5 WAR season. There's no reason to think we won't continue this historical losing pace, especially given they seem intent on trading Robert.2 points

Looks like the Sox are serious about not wanting to break the all time record for losses. They've been making a lot of moves, albeit some (many) forced by injuries. If this guy is good and pitches well he could add some excitement along with Crochet, Robert, Fedde, Pham, last night's starter.2 points
-
It's all downstream of losing, always has been. Win some games and you will become a bit of a destination. We saw that briefly in 2021.2 points
-
The problem is that they suck, not that the clubhouse is toxic. Like I said in the beginning, not wanting to introduce Thorpe to a losing culture makes sense. The Sox clearly have a losing culture. That doesn't mean the clubhouse is "toxic." They're very distinct things.2 points
-
Do you even read your own links? Nothing says "toxic" like this quote from the article - "Eloy is kind of happy-go-lucky but really isn’t the hard worker at least according to people that I talk to,” Rodgers said." You're not very good at this2 points

Yep, he doesn’t care. JR’s ego is likely massive, and rightfully so for many reasons — using his knowledge of the IRS and tax laws to amass his wealth via real estate. The problem is that he probably also thinks he’s a great baseball mind just because of his past successes in life. He’s the worst type of owner. One who only promotes his loyal minions and never stops meddling in front office decisions.2 points
-
I presented a hypothetical. I have no idea how they feel about him. I'm not making things up to fit a narrative I created in my head. Again, there's no evidence the clubhouse is toxic and there are plenty of tangible reasons to be mad at the Sox without making things up.2 points

Middleton is another who trashed the team on his way out last year, as did Lance Lynn. It isn't like this is coming out of no where.2 points

The truth is somewhere in the middle of the Athletic poll and what the Sox and their players throw out there. 99% of the players ripping the team would be singing their praises if JR offered them 1 more dollar than they signed for. And 99 % of the organization will not say anything bad on the record to the press.2 points
-
You seem to assume that Jerry cares what the people think. If he did, I think he would actually be having the organization spending at least sometime giving respectfully comments that give at least some honest evaluation of the team and it's future. I don't expect gory details, but even to acknowledge that this is a rebuild and it will be a LOOOOOONG time before they are good again would go a long way towards build back even a minimal trust in what the org has to say.2 points

It wasn’t an article based on the beat writers opinion, it was based on a player poll2 points

Yes, because when we look back on Ozzies time with the Sox, we reflect on his wonderfully constructed line ups and his bullpen management. I think you are as drunk as Ozzie.2 points

The Sox are going to trade Kopech for peanuts, and some other team will figure out how to get him going. That's pretty much a lock.2 points

“I’ve never heard a good thing.” Yeah, that’s how I imagine everyone outside of the organization and fanbase sees us. While this is true, nobody has done more damage to this team than JR.2 points

There was a point during the 2006 season that I was certain they would do no less than return to the World Series- it was after they swept the Cardinals. The Sox outscored StL 34-11 (20-6, 13-5, 1-0) and were more than 20 games over .500 after that series. St. Louis won their division with 83 games and went on to win the World Series, Sox made it to 90 wins...good enough to finish third in the division, 6 games out.2 points
