Robert still has three full years of control. If teams don't hit his price, you wait.7 points
-
I just don’t trade him then. There is no harm in keeping him and trying to win. If you are only going to get marginal prospects back then let’s just keep him and see if we can keep him on the field.6 points

This s%*# is awesome man. Powerful stuff. Reggie Jackson went off.4 points

Seems like an obvious planted article from a team or GM interested in trading for him. NFL draft style. The salary stuff was laughable. Like 15 million a year for any non Sox or non Athletics club is anything more than ashtray money.4 points

If he gets traded, people aren't going to like the return.4 points

what's more likely to get you a better return, $18 million on the free agent market by dumping benintendi...or just trading Robert and getting prospects... Robert could still get you a great trade, also frees up cash, but would require good scouting as we are unlikely to get the lower-risk prospects that are near majors that our original rebuild acquired.3 points

If they're able to dump Benintendi on someone I'll be ecstatic, Aly-Jack.3 points

Top of the 5th brought back a lot of memories of watching the Sox and Cubs in black and white on WGN back in the 50s, Fox did an amazing job with their replication of those days.2 points

Yeah and he sucked so much in the playoffs that the Thunder benched him. He's a jack of all trades, but good at none. He's also an RFA next year, so this is basically a 1 year for 1 year trade. You went from elite role player in Caruso to a mediocre project player. You also get no draft picks on top of it. I hate it and for once I wish AKME didn't make a trade.2 points

i wasn't paying attention to the ages when the Sox were sifting through the utility infielders at the end of spring; but Dejong, Mendick, Lopez and Remillard are all around 30. Gonzales, the one they DFAd (and the one who started in CF for the RedSox last night) is 23. This all reeks of Pedro. Bad managers don't like to deal with young players: they don't like their moments of immaturity and they don't like having to actually teach as required for young players with potential.2 points

Child? From an admin? Lol this is why myself and so many others stopped posting here regularly. You can converse without being c***y. Or maybe you can't? Either way, this conversation ended right there for me.2 points

Not getting any picks for Caruso from a team with a treasure trove of picks is a disgrace2 points

Yeah, you knew his hot streak was coming to an end. I’m not surprised no 1B/DH-needy teams jumped to trade for him early. The back of his baseball card says he’s bad, and regression is bringing him right back to where he usually is.2 points

I betcha Sox talk is agreement on one thing, this. Get rid of Beni if at all possible please. Same with Maldy.2 points

He signed Maldonado for $4.5 million to start at catcher and acquired Nicky Lopez and paid him $4.3 million to start at 2B. I don’t care if it is a tear down year or not. That should give you some pause and make you wonder about your GM’s player assessment and evaluation skills. He burned almost $10 million on two players that he won’t even be able to trade because they are so bad. Any Sox fan on this site could have told you in the offseason that these two guys would be wasted signings and money. That isn’t encouraging at all. And don’t forget trading for Fletcher. Getz values sh1t players.2 points
-
I think that would only apply to a DH. He could DH when he pitches and then just play 1B the other games.2 points
-
Lowering Robert's value instead of just eating Beni's remaining salary in the offseason would be such a White Sox fan murdering style move.2 points

I really don't care what we get back for him, I'd be happy with anything. He's got one good year under his belt. He can't stay on the field otherwise. This comment might get some people up-in-arms, but he's essentially Yoan Moncada at this point (minus the guaranteed contract) until he proves otherwise.2 points

God let me hold your hand child. Tork has not been the only top first baseman prospect drafted in the first round the last ten years. Even if their numbers were a little worse in college, it hasn’t translated AT ALL to the majors. So you can’t even say, well is it worth a top 5 pick to just get an average first baseman? Because they have been unplayable or bottom 5 i.e. he’s been garbage. You don’t think it’s relevant that he’s a 1b, but being a 1B already in college is a huge limitation. Their hitting has to be there, and they are likely there because they lack the athleticism to play anywhere else. And if they already lack athleticism, are they tapped out from strength and body control to help them succeed at a higher level? It’s a big concern and it’s not lazy to lump him in with the other players who were placed at 1b in college.2 points

So it’s completely negative to think that the Sox won’t be better and to the tune of a .490 winning percentage in the second half of this season once they trade away guys like Crochet, Fedde, Pham, DeJong, etc., and possibly even Robert?1 point
-
I'd say there's a 90% chance they don't sniff 50 wins1 point
-
Which players are you referring to here? Obviously, the Sox aren’t trading away guys like Thorpe and Cannon, but unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s obvious that Getz will be looking to deal almost everyone else. If you don’t think it’s going to happen, you are living in your own fantasy world. And once it does happen, that will likely ensure that the Sox will be just as bad after the trade deadline, if not worse.1 point

Narrator: Last time greg made this post, the Sox had a team record losing streak. Let's see what happens now.1 point

Sox go .341 the rest of the season and finish at 50-1121 point

Sox outlook is suddenly much sunnier than the 14 game losing streak. Is this team capable of .500 the rest of the way with the new starting staff? Bullpen still blows and bats could go either way on a given night. It's the heat of summer now however and bats will be at their highest possible level (for the roster) the rest of the steamy summer season. Sox go .490 the rest of the way?1 point
