  1. I am beginning to understand why your letters are no longer answered.

  2. The Sox were not a couple of players away from anything except 100 losses instead of 120. This roster was trash from day 1.

  5. Saving grace? They are 21-60. Are you John Schriffen? I was just thinking the other day if Getz somehow is able to pawn Lopez off on someone, The Schriff might hand them the WS trophy and tell us how great Nicky is with the glove, and how he works ABs. A true star.

  6. My only hope is to outlive Reisdorff and pray the new owner doesn't move the team. I will be sending Jerry a box of cigars, complimentary sky dive lessons, and one free submarine trip to see the titanic , whatever happens , happens

  10. You are what your record says you are. Period. This is pro sports. Getz quite loudly announced a plan for the team to immediately become solid defensively and with enough otherwise to field a competitive squad the fans could appreciate. And now where are we?

  11. That is quite literally his job. It is his job to know his roster and his players. If he didn't plan for the fact that all three of these players AVERAGE missing between 40 and 50% of every single major league season they have played into how to build this team, he doesn't deserve his job. That is 100% a part of assessing what any season will look like when you have these players on your roster. When the very thing that always happens, actually happens, you don't get to say darn it happened, and now that's why we are so bad. That is ridiculous.

  12. I have no actual idea, why almost 17k people per game, would voluntarily subject themselves to this team.

  13. The Sox were certainly a trendy pick. There's no such thing as 3+ year windows with a collection of players. In 3 years, so much could change. The orioles appear to be positioned great bit that means nothing 3 years from now imo. Only way to stay elite for an extended period is typically to spend in addition to developing.

  14. The whole team has been slumping, Gonzalez most of all. A lot of it is batted ball luck as his K rate has not jumped or anything. The offensive environment in the Southern League is really rough, so when you’re not swinging it, you can get buried.

  15. If you say so. Because this post right here just looks like buzzword salad written by someone who can't actually craft an argument. What am I projecting? I don't drive a car or flip my bat. Never gotten a DUI in my life, but my grandfather killed himself in this way. If I were projecting, I'd probably be saying something else. What information should I have added, do you want a link to the Tim Anderson interview? Or an analysis of all the players who flopped or the poor decisions that Rich Hahn made? You could probably criticize me for wondering about alcoholic-related legislation rather than blaming individuals who commit the act and then are allowed to continue committing it...but you're not doing that. "whatabouts and whatifs" you sound like fucking Dr Seuss. You can have your opinion but you don't need to be a dismissive prick about it. You probably could've responded to the post, but maybe you have some complex about getting the last word on the internet. You can have it.

  18. Barons head into the 9th up 6-1, and disaster follows. Adler has a rare off night and can't find an out. 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks before he's pulled with the bases loaded. Palisch gives up a go ahead slam to the first batter he faces, Barons go down 7-6. Bottom 9, Gonzo hits one solidly but it's caught. Tatum strikes out... Baldwin first pitch double. Elko full count walkoff HR. All's well that ends well (except for Schweitzer getting robbed of a W). 4 HR for the Barons today, which is great to see after the offense was lagging to close out the first half.

  28. Trying to win today, at the expense of tomorrow, with a 120 loss team? Yeah, I am going to be mocking that for sure. Grinding through worthless players so as to block anyone who has control and needs on the job training, it an absolute mistake. As of today, this is about getting the most out of the players who are going to be here in 5 years, and not winning more games in 2024.

  32. A group of pioneers are on the Oregon Trail heading west. The group is led by Kenneth and Richard who recruited the pioneers and obtained all the wagons, oxen, and supplies. The front left wheel keep breaking on the large wagon every month. There is an ox that seems to pull its muscles seemingly every time you cross into a new state. One of your best hunters who spent too much time at the Saloons in Northwest Indiana keeps getting dysentery. Gerald, the patriarch of the group gets embarrassed that the group is taking longer than it should to travel the trail. He tells Kenneth and Richard they are no longer allowed to lead everyone. He appoints Christopher to take their place when they reach Idaho. They stop at a little town outside Boise. Christopher would love to get rid of that faulty wagon wheel and get a new one, buy a brand new healthy ox, and find a hunter who is more dependable. Gerald tells him he doesn't have enough money left. They only have enough to get a used spare wagon wheel, a mule in case the strong ox gets hurt again, and give hunting lessons to a young kid in the travel party. It is less than ideal, but they only have to make it one more state before they get to their destination and can rid themselves of all the crappy stuff Kenneth and Richard purchased. Once they get to Oregon, they will be free to start anew. Immediately after leaving town, the ox pulls his hamstring, the hunter passes out due to illness, and the wagon wheel cracks in half. They put the reins on the mule, hand the rifle to the young hunter-in-training, and replace the wagon wheel with the makeshift spare. It is taking the group longer than most anyone has ever took to travel from Idaho to Oregon. Three guys in the back of the travel party keep blaming Christopher and saying "he should have known" about the wheel, hunter, and injury prone ox.

  33. It appeared in the offseason that Getz’s plan was to improve the leadership and defense to help the young pitching prospects excel once they were ready. I remember posters at the time saying it could be a decent idea but that Getz was completely neglecting offense for defense and leadership. Well, his plan failed on both sides of the ball. Not only is the defense atrocious, Getz’s plan led to one of the worst offenses of the non-deadball era, just like you already stated. So sure, Getz was left with a bad team, but he was also left with some pitching prospects in the minors that Hahn/Kenny acquired at the trade deadline. And Getz’s own offseason plan was an unmitigated disaster.

  35. I was at that game with my high school sweetheart and we sat in an aisle in the upper deck near the right field foul pole. As you can see in the photo they had fans standing on the warning track from center field to the right field foul pole, any ball hit onto the warning track was a ground rule double. If you notice the score board the Sox were the visiting team as the Cubs complained that because the game was always at Comiskey, the Sox always had last at bats, didn’t help the Flubs that night. I went to quite a games with huge crowds at the old place but never saw a crowd like that on that night. I also question the Sox largest crowd in the history of the franchise when they announced a crowd of 55,555 on Bat Day in 1973.

  37. The Orioles still need a decent amount of front line pitching. Honestly, this got lost in all of the mess with the immigrant O's fans, but there was definitely a camp of us who felt that Baltimore has enough talent, but needed to rebalance their roster pitching-wise to be able to make that run, and that they needed to either trade for it, or sign it, because it wasn't in the system, and if they f*** around, they might just find out, and miss their window.

  38. Just a note, last nights Dodger starter Bobby Miller who is coming back from an injury is the Grandson of my best friend when I was growing up in Rogers Park. In 1965 I enlisted in the Air Force and my buddy who was also named Bob and Bobby was named after was drafted by the Army. We both wound up in Vietnam but he was deployed in the jungles of the Central Highlands and came back with PTSD and had other issues and died at age 61. He never saw his grandson play baseball beyond his grade school years.

  40. TLR's first tenure here was before my time, but it seems really weird for Sox fans to celebrate his HOF credentials. What did he do here that contributed to his HOF? Gene Lamont had a better winning % and just as many post season appearances as TLR's first stint and we sure don't celebrate him...
