  1. Jim Callis was on an Orioles podcast and he told them that Crochet would likely cost one of Cowser/Kjerstad and one of Basallo/Mayo. It’s not happening. Mike Elias will try and use Connor Norby and Dylan Beavers. Just let Baltimore acquire Flaherty again.

  2. Crochet would cost Gunnar Henderson and Rutschman as a starting point. Crochet is greatest player of all time and all Baltimore players are garbage. Also blue crabs are ass. Baltimore sucks.

  6. Wolkow with 2 BB’s & 0 K’s through three PA’s. OPS currently sitting at .874 as a 18 year old in A Ball.

  10. I totally missed him doing the “growl” on the Robert HR, and while I have probably been one of his loudest critics, it was so stupid, so weird….I loved it. Credit is deserved where it’s due, and loved that call.

  11. I would need Holliday back for Flexen, but even then I have concerns about how overrated the Baltimore farm system is.

  13. First off, not sure where this #85 prospect ranking came from, but Thorpe was much higher rated than that on most sites. IMO, he was a legit 55 FV pitching prospect as the time of the trade and a solid centerpiece but obviously much more of a high floor guy than ceiling. The other two guys were a 50 FV pitching prospect (who was cracking some top 100 lists) and a highly interesting 45+ FV positional prospect, both guys with some helium. The reliever will eventually be flipped for additional prospect currency. I was very supportive of the trade at the time, but was also able to acknowledge then and now we were likely selling low on Cease as he was coming off a disappointing season. Crochet is being sold at a high point and in a market where is there no one else even remotely like him. He’s the one SP available who could greatly increase a team’s odds of winning a World Series this year. Yes, there is risk he runs out of steam at some point, but teams will either need to come up with a plan to keep him strong for October or try to acquire much lesser options. The Sox aren’t going to give a massive discount on him in this market. Regardless, I don’t see the rationale in comparing Crochet to Cease. Crochet has been the best pitcher in baseball this season and if you watch him pitch you’d realize how special he truly is. The price for him alone is going to be much higher than Cease’s. And then you causally include Robert in the deal like he won’t be the best positional player available at the deadline with 3 1/3 years of control on a very reasonable deal. His value is enormous and the price will reflect that. No doubt you have the talent to the acquire both of them, but it’s very clear you guys won’t like the price for one for one of them let alone both of them. Like I said, your proposal is much closer to the price I’d need to just give up Crochet. Now if you wanted someone like Kopech thrown in, we’d be much more in the ballpark, but I’m still not in love with Stowers and would prefer Beavers over Barfield.

  16. Let me say this very clearly. Winning games is not a priority in 2024, nor should it be when you are on a 40whatever win pace.

  17. I will be honest, it's probably a good thing the Yankees didn't want to trade Jones earlier because he has had a bad year, as has guys like Arias and their other top hitters. Been a bad year in their system.

  18. I never said that was realistic. I don’t think Crochet is getting traded though and definitely not to the Orioles. The White Sox didn’t need a 26-year-old Joey Ortiz as a headliner. I’m glad they got the Padres package instead

  26. In the second Marlins game, talked about what a great day Benintendi was having on his birthday. True, the guy had two hits, but one was an infield dribbler off the end of his bat. He then grounded out to second. So, on his birthday, Benintendi got one ball out of the infield in three at-bats. Then he butchered a play in left. Schriffen is so annoying.

  27. Also, Zavala is walking at an 18% clip as an 19 year in High A ball. He legit has a .449 OBP since June 1st (120 PA’s). The whole package isn’t quite there just yet, but it’s easier to become a more aggressive hitter than it is to become a more selective one. Once he learns a more balance approach, he will shoot up these rankings lists.

  28. Well, injuries happen, and top prospects failing in the bigs happens too. Maybe the O's sent the wrong infielder to Milwaukee.

  32. Sox aren't going to DFA Benintendi right now. Jerry won't eat 3 1/2 years of a contract and he's not blocking anyone. Pham and Sheets are blocking Colas if you want to say that. But they should be gone at the deadline hopefully

  33. His wRC+ of 127 would be the second highest amongst qualified CFers. You may not like his BA or OBP, but the dude can slug and is a very productive hitter. And when healthy (and giving his all), he’s an excellent CF defensively. Not sure how that isn’t a superstar, but I didn’t expect him to be a guy you’d pay up for anyways.

  35. Crochet and Fedde will both be free agents by 2027. You can’t build around them with Reinsdorf as owner even if we wanted to.

  36. I think we have a pretty good starting 3 in Crochet, Fedde and Thorpe, so you don’t need a major rebuild if almost half the battle is won with the starters, the starting staff pitchers were the best since June 1 leading the AL in ERA so why trade them. I say focus on the position players building around Robert, Vaughn, Lee and Montgomery. Sosa is showing he might be a keeper also. Nicky Lopez might work out in a utility role. We’re stuck with Benintendi and the only hope is that he has an epiphany and returns to the player he once was. If JR is willing to spend some money this offseason I think the Sox could be a .500 team in 2025. In 2026 a few guys from Birmingham might be ready to help and by 2027 we should be contenders but only if Reinsdorf spends some money or even better would be if he sells the team to someone who won’t run the team as if they are the small market Pittsburgh Pirates.

  38. Between Cease's pure stuff, ceiling and durability, calling him a mid tier starter is just fucking stupid. It really is.

  39. Wolkow finished 1-3 with a HR, 3 RBI, and 2 BB. He K'd once looking, on a borderline pitch where he made it clear that he didn't love the call. Clearly working on his plate discipline. But don't let the giant King George mashing baseballs distract you from the short king Rikuu also slapping them all over the place. Nishida went 5-6 (!!!) with 3 RBI, a 3B, and a SB. Kanny wins 8-2.
