Every pick, at least in the first 10 rounds of the MLB draft, should be BPA. Yes, the Sox need impact bats in their system, but those can be acquired multiple ways. And as so many others have mentioned, what do you trust the Sox developing…bats or arms? So I have very little issue with the choice8 points

Anyone who thinks there is some other path to competing other than completely tearing the whole thing down (like they are doing) is just being obtuse.8 points

Sure, we want more position players, but do you trust the Sox to play into the weaknesses of any of those kids? Can they get less swing and miss out of their guys? Can they keep hamstrings healthy? Can the develop a really raw high school kid who didn't see real competition? I trust them way more to turn Hagen Smith into a really good major league starting pitcher than I trust them to develop anyone with those flaws into a really good major league hitter.7 points

I'm just more amazed that this clown was allowed to lose 71 games before the break in his second season as manager and is (as of this angry post) still employed.5 points

Grade it an A for perhaps getting BPA in the draft. Giving it a F minus if we're basing our fucking draft around trading our star player. How depressing if so.5 points

I love Hagen Smith. But boy do you have to hit on position players on your trade deadline deals.5 points
-
I'd prefer Griffin. I always would rather take the chance on the superstar potential, up the middle talent.5 points

Still needs to be either Basallo or Mayo for me, if neither are involved then move on and I’m not giving them Fedde either5 points

I love Hagen Smith. For me this was a two man draft. Cags or Smith. I'm very happy they went with Smith.4 points

Fucking idiot. You better get Kjerstad now. And I don't want to hear excuses about how Elias doesn't want to give him up. The deadline better be ALL about bats.4 points
-
Love this pick. Wanted him from the start. Play to your strengths.4 points

Not sure how much better the record would be, but they wouldn't have wasted as much time on pointless players.4 points

You spent the White Sox prospect capital, won 70 games, and still didn't accomplish anything of substance.4 points

It's almost like this team isn't good enough to be kept together.4 points

$20M is an absolute bargain for Luis Robert. Stop this non sense.4 points

We were told by a poster who knows way more than us, the reason the Sox suck so bad was they had 3 guys who always get hurt, get hurt all together and early. 2 have come back and the Sox continue to lose at a record clip. So it figures we should be excited about Moncadas return. He is obviously the key piece to this team. They will start winning if he is healthy, like you’ve never seen before.4 points

It's OK. That just means we're a virtual lock for the #1 draft pick next year. What?!? What do you mean?!? We pick 10th at best!!! These jamolks can't even lose right4 points

Don't need to worry about it with this kid. Been a starter his whole career.3 points

I didn’t trust this draft to bring in the talent so, sure. He’s got talent, also just feels like I can see “Sox s%*# down smith in spring training with forearm soreness”. I would have preferred the offensive players just with the somewhat more loaded prep pitchers. But just not a good draft for profiles. That said with potentially trading crochet I have no clue why Getz was targeting pitching with his Cease return. Makes no sense (its because he is stupid)3 points

Exact opposite. Sox aren't in a position to draft to development strength over org needs. Would have liked any of the three position players there.3 points

So much more excited for Hagen Smith than any of the hitters that were there. The White Sox develop pitching well. Play into it. Besides wonder if the Sox get some decent cap savings here, but also wonder if they think they are going to be able to get some hitting in here with the trade offers they have seen so far?3 points

Bye bye Crochet. We just got your replacement. Sox development in pitching I trust WAY more than their hitting development. I like this pick.3 points

Man. Imagine Crochet, Schultz, Smith in a rotation. Shame they won't extend Crochet.3 points

And with that the White Sox close the worst first half in the 124 year history of the franchise. Clowns and buffoons. ?? Hope JR enjoys watching the product on the field.3 points

He’s very similar to Chris Getz. Maybe he’ll be the Sox GM some day.3 points

And free agency with a team that doesn't add the players who would make a difference enough.3 points

I don't think Robert or Crochet are getting traded this month, and maybe not in the offseason either. Honestly I think it's going to take either a) 2 years of control or less or b) a team that trades for Robert with zero intentions of picking up his option.3 points

It would take three Spencer Jones level prospects to even think about getting a deal done with the Yankees. Yanks doesn't have the farm to get this deal done. edited to as not to disrespect the Metropolitans.3 points

Outside of those 3, there is a steep drop off. I guess the next tier is Norby, Bradfield, and Beavers. But they are all 50FV types with a lot of warts. For Fedde, I could see Beavers and somebody. Personally, I like Horvath a little bit, but hard to see a trade for Crochet built on the middle of the Orioles system.3 points

It’s a great trade. Not even about the player at 39. That pick is worth $2.4 million. The Nats pick 10th because of the same rule prohibiting the Sox next year. In theory, they could float Chase Burns or Hagen Smith down to 10th overall now with your extra $$. That’s why it’s a valuable trade3 points
