Talk about a kid who absolutely worked his ass off for this moment. Well deserved!4 points

I'd much rather see Chuckie than Quero. Quero shouldn't sniff the big leagues until next May.4 points

I don’t love the way we’d match up with them in a deal for Crochet.4 points

Many of you are saying this but Boston has been the most underrated match team for Crochet out there not enough people are talking about. 3 position players inside pipeline top 24 in Mayer, Anthony and Teel. Also a team in the hunt that absolutely need SP help.3 points

Seems way too soon for this, but at least it will be something exciting to watch3 points

Cool. This is a guy that has a) earned it; and b) contractual contract isn't and shouldn't be a concern. Hope he succeeds.3 points
-
The thing is, yeah I get you sign crap like this to see if you can get him figured out, but the Reds couldn't do it. The Nats couldn't do it this year. The White Sox can't get their own guys to hit and field. How is this guy going to find something in 60 games? Its a waste of money that they will claim they don't have when needed.3 points

Crochet might be more valuable than Robert at this point, tbh. Or at least close. They're both extremely valuable.3 points

After Steven Wilson, the new rule should be "no acquiring pieces that are older than the guy you're trading."3 points

Still has 5 years of control left. Most of my problem is that he really looks like this year was a bust, and a hard regression at the major league level.3 points

Outman is 27. That time has passed. The Sox should not be targeting him.3 points

I’m gonna embrace Greg’s post here he was always a bad poster3 points
-
The trouble is that there's nothing exceptional about Rushing as a 1B; if he hits like he as a catcher, yes, but as a 1B, no. The Dodgers are the beggars; Sox are the choosers. Or should be.2 points
-
Damn. One less thing to be mad about. Pretty soon there won't be any reason to pay attention.2 points
-
Say what you want about greg, he is always kind in his posts and respects the views of others even if others' views innately bother him. Peace on earth good will toward all. -- As far as the thread I got no apparent problems with Sox draft albeit I have not studied it at all cept for the first pick. He seems fine.2 points

Pedro's already thinking of ways to call out Brooks when he speaks to the media2 points

Boston indeed matches up very well. I've largely been whatever on what Getz has done thus far, but he really needs to nail the return on the few remaining assets from the old guard. It will largely dictate if/when this organization becomes competitive again.2 points
-
Avoid claiming that you speak for others. Just speak fr yourself. Likewise, maybe stop piling on Greg or any one poster. That is a worthless and shallow endeavor.2 points
-
I think you could also add Boston in. A package of Crochet, Kopech and Moncada would be the ultimate dark comedy.2 points

Dodgers don't match up for these trades. I keep going back to the fact that the only team that really matches up for what we're looking for is Baltimore2 points

Such as a middle reliever as say the 3rd or 4th piece in a trade for a pitcher who ceased to be with the Sox?2 points

Do the Dodgers have any middle relievers or old utility guys? Asking for an unnamed GM.2 points

Like, do we really feel like Rushing, DePaula, one of Ryan/Hurt, and a couple 12-20 types is enough to let go of one of these guys? The Dodgers primary prospects outside of De Paula are all old.2 points
-
I don't think the Dodgers really have the bullets to acquire both. One would require both Rushing and De Paula plus one of the near MLB ready arms ++, and I don't think I'd even like that.2 points
-
Yeah, Ideally i would send Robert and Crochet to separate teams.2 points

Sosa had a hot streak and has been pretty bad outside of it. But I still don't understand in the Sox current situation, why you would rather give ABs to Senzel and not Sosa.2 points
-
But he's been doing it for 20 years. You do it for that long, you get to own it. He truly believes it. Others have their own shtick. They are annoying until they get at least a decade in.2 points

Man, I feel like you read one sentence of a post and make up the rest. Nobody on this site wants to hold down any player if they are able to play at the major league level. Nobody. What we want, please write this down, is players who are promoted when they are ready and have been coached up to their abilities by the minor league coaches. Nobody WANTS tanking. What everybody wants is a good team. What everybody, but you and a select others, understands on this site is that this tanking is necessary because the owner will never do the right thing at the right time. But you can go ahead and keep blaming this site for acknowledging that they fucked up the first rebuild because Jerry wouldn’t do the right thing. Keep on blaming soxtalk, Greg. It’s all us2 points

Hahahaha nice Dave Chappelle reference from Law. Just scored some brownie points with me there.1 point

It gives Chris a chance to acquire a 35 year old third string catcher instead of assets.1 point

Draft picks as high as Senzel always have long leashes . When picking up cheap bad talent once in a while it works out like with McCann. He was the same age as Senzel. He had a slightly better career than Senzel but he was considered a bum too when the Sox got him. Rodon was a $3M bum for 2021. Rather take cheap fliers on under 30 bums than pay $5-$10M on mid 30s guys on the downward trajectory of their careers. Jurickson Profar signed with the Padres right before his 31st birthday this year for $1M plus incentives and became an All Star.1 point

He really needs to be the next to go. While some team will trade for DeBong, I don’t see any team being interested in Slappy Nicky.1 point

https://sports.yahoo.com/garrett-crochet-worth-haul-heres-231836886.html According to insider Robert Murray of FanSided, teams are seemingly willing to pay a pretty penny for his services. “Absolutely incredible," a "rival evaluator" texted Murray of Crochet. "Someone should give them what they want. Fastball that explodes, angle, life (on his fastball) just absurd. I’d give them like five prospects for him right now.1 point

But then there's this: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/07/the-trade-market-remains-light-on-middle-infield-talent.html The fact we're talking about DeJong, Lopez and Moncada maybe garnering interest does back that up. edit: Moncada, not Maldonado.1 point

Makes me feel old seeing this guy's name and realizing he is already 29. Feels like yesterday he was a top draft pick.1 point
