Wanting to stay a starter is extremely reasonable Being on an inning limit given his career thus far is also reasonable Saying you can’t pitch into the postseason…unless you pay me…is not reasonable. Either it’s a big risk and he shouldn’t do it or it’s not. Attaching a $ amount to that risk is dumb and would for sure turn me off if I was a GM thinking about giving up a haul of prospects for Crochet.4 points

Lol so this critique is moving from Moncada to Robert now? Or do we need him to look like this jovial young man?4 points

I’m tired of his act, hits a homer now and then but otherwise he is just about useless with a shitty attitude, hope someone will overpay for him.4 points

And to think Orioles could've had that guy... but he isn't that good according to their fans4 points

What's he going to do, leave the team in the postseason and go home if he doesn't get an extension? Seems pretty ridiculous to say that.4 points

This narrative around Robert is confusing to me. The Sox absolutely do not HAVE to trade him. Its definitely a homeless man owning a Lamborghini situation, but the Sox absolutely should not be desperate to move him and settle for some BS package. It really irks me. Robert should bring a monster return, or you just hold until winter, or summer 2025 and get the monster package then. There is risk, but there is risk with any player and the control is what makes the risk worth bearing if the offers are not there. The Sox absolutely HAVE to hit a home run on the Robert return.4 points

There was a pic posted of the fat kid from The Sandlot in the game thread tonight. And I was thinking, maybe instead of being depressed all day about how s%*# the Sox are and who's being traded we could share some of our favorite baseball movie clips. I'm not normally a big movie guy, but would love to watch new stuff in lieu of the 2024 Sox. These were the first few i thought of and I got some more but I would love to see more, hopefully new stuff!3 points

So in one day, the team most desperate for a bat acquires a different OF and our prized SP sabotages his near-term value. This is on top of our 11th straight loss plus all our minor league affiliates losing and most key prospect playing bad. Damn it feels good to be Sox fan each and every day.3 points

I'm generally very much pro worker, but f*** Garrett Crochet for doing this. It's insulting to every pitcher who came before him.3 points

So your saying that the owners will blackball a pitcher who the team has overused and worn out to the point that he can't pitch anymore? Don't think that would happen. Pitchers have to take breaks all year long when their arms are fatigued. Relievers do it all the time. You'll hear the mangers say that they aren't available on certain days after pitching too much.3 points

There are no contractual obligations to pitch beyond reasonable health limits placed on you by physicians which he could easily obtain.3 points

Crochet can state this all he wants. It’s not how it works. He doesn’t really have a say in how a team uses him, unless he fakes an injury. It’s an unfortunate development, but it’s not the end of the world. Worst case, Sox kid glove him rest of reason and trade him in the winter. I also don’t necessarily take reports like this as gospel.3 points

Yea I've changed my mind. Fire him now. If nothing else it might show some of the players a hint of accountability. On those same lines I'd outright DFA Sheets and let Colas come up and get all the RF and some DH AB.3 points

Yep, need guys like Mayo that can be put into the lineup. Big projects like Zavala have no shot in this organization.3 points

If he wants an extension, then f***ing extend him. The rotation of Crochet, Schultz, Smith, Thorpe and whoever has the potential to be an elite rotation3 points

I can't keep track of these guys. I'm a man, I'm 40. I got other s%*# floating around in my coconut that 25 year old chitown did not.3 points

I THINK he meant would need extension as in "would extend himself to pitch more" and he worded it like a moron because he is one.3 points

Insane they even needed to sign him to a contract. Should have just made him hourly.3 points

I was thinking last night how boring each game had become. First five innings, good SP. I’d be thinking “hey maybe we can eek out a 1 run win” They come back and we go down a run. I go to bed and think “now they are gonna score 6 runs in the 8th and 9th” I wake up and we lost 10-2 or something. Rinse and repeat. f*** Jerry Reinsdorf.3 points

Also the scene from A League of Their Own that always makes me laugh. "AND HOW ABOUT MARLA HOOCH. WHAT A HITTER."3 points

Eh, I don’t agree. Raising your son should not conflict with your job in the manner that they made that happen. Hahn shouldn’t have allowed it and it should not have been requested. That entire situation sucked and nobody came out looking good imo3 points

I think, that if Pedro can turn this around and get this team into the playoffs, he should be manager of the year3 points

In answer to the question, I never ever want the Sox to lose a game, every loss is like a small paper cut. What I want is new ownership who will run the White Sox like the big market franchise that they are instead of like the Reds, Pirates, and Royals. What Reinsdorf has given us this year is an absolute nightmare with a horrible GM who is in over his head, the worst manager in the history of the franchise and a roster full of bad players who are either castoffs or failed minor leaguers who have no business being in the Majors. The hitting is atrocious with guys with clueless at bats, does this team not look at tapes and see what they are doing wrong and maybe trying something different, what the f*** is the hitting coach doing, probably just stealing money. Right now they would probably be better off replacing everyone except for a few guys with the Birmingham Barons, it couldn’t be any worse.3 points

This sounds like something someone would say about a different organization after leaving the Sox. That’s encouraging.2 points
