So in one day, the team most desperate for a bat acquires a different OF and our prized SP sabotages his near-term value. This is on top of our 11th straight loss plus all our minor league affiliates losing and most key prospect playing bad. Damn it feels good to be Sox fan each and every day.7 points

Better find a genie in a fucking bottle, otherwise there’s no chance.6 points

Another damned if you do and damned if you don't scenario. You have some fans who chose every opportunities to blame Getz for everything. He didn't make the 1st major trade if the off season . He's sitting on his hands. He asking too much . He's in over his head. Then if he makes a trade it would be " Why didn't he wait til closer to the deadline ? Doesn't that idiot know how to pit one team against the other to get their best last minute offers " ??? " He's in over his head !!. Or wow what a terrible trade. Basically the fan base is split between everything the Sox do is bad and some who are slightly more reasonable and only think most of what the Sox do is bad.?6 points

Down the road Crochet not getting traded at the trading deadline might turn out to to be the best thing that happened.5 points

Oh please. There are like three systems in baseball which are perfect matches to the Sox, and this is one.5 points

This is the single funniest thing that could happen this season, cause you know the Sox are mad that one of the best pitchers in baseball publicly wants an extension.5 points

How can anyone defend anything in this organization, outside of Bannister’s job so far?4 points

The guy has made one trade similar to the ones he's trying to make right now and it looks pretty decent at the moment. No idea how you can say "he just doesn't know what to do." If he traded Crochet and Robert (who are under team control) for less than they are worth, that would be embarrassing.4 points

If the Sox want to win by 2027... Pray for new ownership otherwise it isn't happening.4 points
-
When you have to start a paragraph with "pray" and it involves the entire position player group, that should tell you how impossible it will be.4 points
-
To be fair, the Sox are giving hom this opportunity that I don't know how many organizations would have. I'm still surprised they are still doing it.4 points

Honestly, I don’t blame Crochet for feeling the way he does, but the Sox have done everything to make Garrett a rich man and faster than they should have by not optioning him. And then he goes out to the media and completely fucks us over. It really sucks because he should have probably opened the season in Charlotte, but alas here we are and now not benefiting after doing him a solid.4 points
-
At this point just option him and get back a year of service time. Increase that trade value for the offseason move. f*** him.4 points

I was actually thinking exactly this, as it leaves the top 10/15 entirely in tact. Lord knows Seattle needs boatloads of help right now.4 points

I see Thorpe and Baldwin make a bad play together (moreso Thorpe) and I just think how Grifol should not be anywhere near these guys.3 points

I think I've resigned myself to the fact that Fedde will be the only significant trade. Unfortunate.3 points

I like Horvath, but these are more flyers than real solid pieces. Would not have been a good deal for Fedde3 points

I think Getz needs to prove that he's capable of not fucking it up before we can actually believe it. It's like the reverse benefit of the doubt.3 points

How dare they tell Crochet to say that we won't pitch in the post season without a contract extension. They was a bad move by Getz.3 points

Why is everyone so shocked. I don't get it. Strasburg did this year(s) ago. I'm not saying he is Strasburg but at some point you need to monitor innings and load. I think the bigger piece here is he is making clear he doesn't want to pitch out of the pen. In his mind (whether he is right or wrong) - he believes pitching out of the pen causes all of his injury issues and he wants to continue pitching on 5 days rest. Its unfortunate for the White Sox - and my hope is there is still a team that will pay very high value to get him and can work with him on that plan. The key is - Sox need to kind of get those parameters dialed in enough so he can have that dialogue. It could be starting every 7 days from here on out or some other approach - I don't know. Everything is experimental and that was always the concern all of us had around Crochet. The real hope was - teams would look the other way a bit given how cheap he is for the next few years, how thin the overall pitching market is at the deadline, and how elite he has been thus far. Basically put - hoping the premium for the lack of supply would make up for the other concerns. If it doesn't happen - than the Sox absolutely need to be careful how they handle him so that they can ideally do right by Crochet and have him in a spot where they can deal him in the off-season. I still think he gets traded because of the lack of supply -> but this absolutely throws a wrench but I don't blame him for trying to be careful (I do think it is interesting how this came out - and I suspect it is driven by a few high market teams trying to push some leaks that try to remove some of the smaller market teams from the bidding). So I think there are some angles in the equation.3 points

I don't believe Robert and Arozarena are in the same stratosphere. I also don't think this even takes the Mariners out of the Robert sweepstakes.3 points

The Getz Defense team is still in full Blame Hahn mode of the honeymoon phase. They are feeling pressure, but nothing like they will be in a year or two when there is no one else left to blame.2 points
-
I never said I would pitch him in the pen. I said that, it's been reported that teams have said that. If a team trades for him before the deadline, they aren't going to shut him down. They will still plan on using him.2 points
-
Been saying for awhile, Robert’s current value isn’t near what most here seem to think it is. It’s fine, we’ll hold on to him until the bitter end of his contract and get nothing for him ala Moncada.2 points
-
Correct. But from reports he wouldn't have an issue with that. But there were reports of teams wanting him to go to the pen as it would probably decrease his innings more than those regular turns in the rotation. That is what he has said he doesn't want to do.2 points
-
This. Or keep him on a starter’s schedule and let him go an inning or 2 and then have someone else pitch a bulk of the game. Would also be easier to manage in September when rosters expand. The Dodgers could probably do that with all of their pitching options.2 points
-
It's not a given that he couldn't be in the post season. The option of going to the bullpen for the second half to save him for the post season is a reasonable possibility. However he has said he doesn't want to do that. Maybe the contract demands is his way of ensuring he won't get traded to a team that wants him in the pen for the second half of the season.2 points
-
Why would it ? Fedde has innings under his belt and should be able to pitch in the post season. I don't know what else Fedde can do at this point to be considered any more valuable. He's getting out the best hitters in the world . This isn't some kind of trick.2 points
-
You stop pitching in games. Do the off season throwing program and trade him in the offseason. He'll be valuable for next season when he can pitch a full season without limitation. There is a strong possibility he'll have some issues but it's not a given considering how he's handled this year.2 points

Crochet making the Sox look cheap yet again is awesome. Good for him. Love this move by him. Get paid.2 points
