If we do this we are the dumbest franchise in baseball. We have $50 million on payroll on the books next year including Benny, and literally only his deal in 26 and 27. There is absolutely no need to prolonge the rebuild by taking a shitty return to move this deal. None. It's cheap and stupid. What would we do with that money anyway? It is just baseball stupid and an insult to the fanbase.7 points

He was a top 10 org prospect at the time of the trade…he could have been used on something other than Dominic Fletcher. If it’s true we had our choice of him or Jake McCarthy, then Getz & Barfield missed massively in their evaluations.5 points

In a dark, twisted way I want to see the Sox attach Beni to a Crochet package just to see the reactions.5 points

In the first 124 seasons of their existence, the White Sox never lost 14 games in a row during one season. They are about to do it twice in 2 monyhs. Don’t fire anyone.5 points

Trust your gut and don’t underestimate their stupidity — they probably don’t know either.5 points

Keep your integrity and coaching record intact, AJ. You know what’s up, this is a fools errand5 points
-
No doubt. AJ hates to lose and that's what this organization desperately needs. They're getting way to familiar with losing. He'll bring a mentality to the clubhouse they haven't had since he left. AJ was an extremely smart player and knows the game like the back of his hand so there are no worries about him there. He'll be a fantasitc manager.5 points

I would be shocked if Reinsdorf approved it. Didn't AJ just bad mouth him not too long ago? I don't think JR would want that but then again.. he has an announcer(s) right now who always get into it on Twitter so who knows anymore.5 points

Lasko (#5), Bush Jr (#12), and a Gonzalez (#8) to the Rays. Tampa super aggressive this deadline while Getz asleep at the wheel.4 points

I think you are underestimating the delicacy of the situation. We are few bad moves away from a decade of futility. Hiring an unqualified GM from what is one of the most insular orgs in all of baseball doesn’t inspire much confidence either. Why should Sox fans be optimistic at the moment exactly? And just because Jerry may have not been the worst owner in the past, doesn’t mean he isn’t the worst right now as a stubborn 80 year old who is willing to undermine the authority of his key decision makers to do things his way. Our org is becoming more & more outdated by the day because our dinosaur of an owner refuses to evolve to the modern game. We are literally handicapped in a way few other teams are and him willing to spend like an upper middle market team doesn’t change that fact.4 points

He's a really talented kid, but Sox don't seem to be the ones that could fix him. His numbers as a 21 year old were impressive but he's broken right now.4 points

Jerry Dipoto, Mariners President of Baseball Operations, gets on Seattle local sports radio every week and, very often, stays on for an additional segment after his scheduled time. The hosts don’t exactly lob softball questions the entire time either. The Sox’ organization is filled with cowards. They know that they are extorting the fan base and are scared to acknowledge it. The media is scared to ask meaningful questions because they know Jerry will ex-communicate them. Top to bottom, the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports.4 points
-
Yep, along with the position player prospect from the trade currently batting .190 with a .665 OPS in High A ball. And then there was his trade for Dominic Fletcher… Or his trade for Bailey Horn that netted him nothing… The Braves won the Bummer trade. We are left with four bad players and one older relief prospect. His only truly good trade was Grossman for a relief prospect.4 points

Getz running to the Braves because he doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing. The Braves farm is devoid of position players...4 points

It’s a message board. The entire point of the entire platform is to post messages on the board. The team is the most dysfunctional organization in professional sports that is going to challenge the MLB record for futility. They are playing a likable team that competes at a higher level despite being in a much smaller market. If you are happy to continue to give Jerry your money. Good for you.4 points

laughing at idea of Sox not wanting to move Fedde to a division rival. Who gives a crap? He’s 32 and the team isn’t likely competing again until he’s 35 and washed or close to it. If a division team gives you the best package you freaking take it, at least for him!4 points

Because they absolutely need to maximize the talent infusion from the Crochet trade. Not save $16M a year on an already super duper low amount of future commitments. I get you hate everything white Sox and love to predict doom and gloom, but this just seems so terribly unlikely and Sox fans just assuming the worst.3 points

I 100% believe it. Which is disgusting. Dude will have 3y/ <$50m left after this season. That is not even close to a large contract in MLB. Yet JR and this organization are so concerned with pinching Pennies that they’ll negate the player return on guys like Crochet, Robert, or Fedde merely to save a few bucks. A competing organization will 100% take that deal. Let’s say you get Crochet, take on a bad contract less than $50m, and then don’t have to sacrifice any top prospects? Hell yeah. That’s why the Sox are doomed until there’s an ownership change.3 points

We are officially under 48 hours until the deadline now and Getz still hasn’t made a trade. Meanwhile, the Rays are already at four moves and counting. Doesn’t mean a bunch s%*# can’t or won’t happen, but I must admit I’m not feeling warm and fuzzy. And weird leaks that were talking with a Braves team that can’t afford anyone of substance reeks of potential desperation. Prove me wrong Getz and make a fucking move, even just a minor one to ensure you’re actually working this weekend.3 points

I honestly dgaf if they move either at this point but MLB will never allow it. Chicago is too big of a media market to not have 2 teams but Cubs, Cards, and Milwaukee have enough influence to block any expansion group if the Sox ever left. Moving the team is a hollow threat to attempt to bend over the taxpayers for funding a new stadium, Thankfully the state called Jerry on his bluff, but you know he’ll try to play that card again when the negotiations come up with ISFA for the GRF terms come up for renewal and he wants to put the citizens over a barrel again for his own financial gain.3 points

Under this ownership regime, minimum 5. The new draft rules would really hamper this team’s ability to stack high draft picks. They won’t be playing in the FA market for a number of those years as well. Maybe they emphasize the INT market to supplement but that’s never been their forte either. Really hard to squint and see a path back to respectability until JR is no longer around.3 points

I hope they get swept by the Royals. That would be perfect.3 points

The delusion of an aged billionaire thinking he can control AJ by giving him what he wants? IDK. Coming from Bob is what has me believing it could happen despite all of the rational reasons why AJ wouldn't be a candidate.3 points

Who would trade for Robert, he’s a quitter. I remember Ernie Banks in the 1950s playing with pretty bad Cubs teams but he went out there and did his job every day hitting homers and driving in runs and won 2 MVP awards in 1958 and 1959. Banks had more class in his baby finger than Robert will ever have.2 points
