  2. Nobody is forcing you to go with any narrative. Not one person. No need for you to project this bs, you are smarter than that and honestly it’s hard watching you try to soothe say people on this site because you have a personal relationship with the team. it isn’t some radical thought that this team is in a bad way and it’s absolutely ok to look at this result and continue to believe that.

  3. Not a fan of this, it feels like he didn’t get enough of an opportunity here.

  4. You give 29 other general managers the same situation and none of them would be likely to break the 62 mets record. You are fooling yourself how bad this was. They let players go like Declan Cronin ...for free. He'd be one of our best bullpen pitchers. They let Romy Gonzalez go...for free. He would be our 4th best player. And yes that's embarrassing, but they were the ones who made decisions like tendering Nicky Lopez and signing him for 4.3 million. Do you want to see what they could have gotten for 4.3 million if they were already going to give spots to veterans? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/transactions Shoot, Jurickson Profar signed for $1 Million, and is on pace for 7 fWAR. They had a rule 5 draft, took one player who never played. No room - despite selling off pieces of our 40 man a few months later. Interesting guys are passing through waivers every day. We are starting Gavin Sheets in RF. It is pretty hard to make a 43 win roster, and my evidence is 150 years of baseball history.

  6. Whoever is in charge of position player development in the minors desperately needs to be shitcanned. Or perhaps that person doesn't exist which would explain a lot as well.

  7. That’s alright. I will continue to not spend on the White Sox.

  8. But not before they used him to justify trading for Vargas. f*** this is the dumbest organization in baseball.

  9. I honestly thought it would never happen. I don't really want to congratulate the organization for doing something any other group would have done months ago, but ok.

  10. What’s funny about that is the MLB roster isn’t even all that different than last year. The only real departures of note are Cease and a couple bullpen pitchers. Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Benintendi, Sheets, Vaughn, Lee, Sosa, Kopech, Touki, Banks were all here. DeJong was much better than TA. Maldonado was worse than Grandal but honestly they were both awful, so if you’re saying the Sox are 20-something games worse because of Grandal I ain’t buying it. Zavala was Maldonado-esque. Nicky Lopez is doing about what we got out of Andrus last year. Pham and Sheets have been better than what we got out of Sheets last year. The starters have been BETTER this year. No 6.47 era Lance Lynn to deal with. 2023 Kopech and Flexen are roughly the same. Crochet and Fedde are better than any pitcher from last year. The bullpen is the biggest difference, because most of the turnover happened there, and a lot of it was bad. The bullpen isn’t the main reason why they’ve lost 20-something more games, though. Basically every returning position player has either been hurt most of the year or has been much worse than last year. Benintendi, Robert, Eloy (when he played), Vaughn - all worse. They barely average 3 runs per game, and all the new guys have either been better or are a wash. Like I said - this all started long before Getz took over. We’re just seeing it bottom out now.

  11. No it’s not. They dumped all the Pedro guys. I think Katz will be safe with Bannister in tow going forward. Well that’s a Jerry decision. I think Getz would’ve launched Grifol awhile ago. Do you disagree with all the prospect publications who had him as a top 50 prospect in baseball?

  12. If Burger was on this team, you'd have absolutely torched him all season. But of course since he's not, he's the next Edgar Martinez.

  13. You make yourself look really bad with these kind of posts. They're on pace FOR THE WORST RECORD IN MLB HISTORY. The owner said before the season started, he expected better results than 2023, a year in which the Sox finished 61-101. There is no "narrative" There are facts, and I would have thought someone with a medical background like yourself would lean on the side of using historical evidence and data to come to rational conclusions. I guess I was wrong.

  14. On a side note, Maddog went on a 5 minute rant about Reinsdorf on his show at noon on Sirus. Among other things, he wailed on JR for hiring unqualified GMs Hahn and Getz.

  15. My favorite Getz/Grifol thing is specifically spending capital to get lower ceiling but, what they believed to be, currently ready for mlb competency guys who turned out to all be bad enough they couldn't even find playing time on the worst mlb team of all time. Oh zack deloach and dom fletcher, you have been a treat.

  16. "Sizemore accepted a $15-an-hour internship with Mike Hazen, the general manager for the Diamondbacks, for the 2023 season." I assume he's still on that same pay grade, which is why Jerry went with him.

  17. I'd honestly be fine with Grady as the manager moving forward. Would definitely prefer him to an insular white sox hire.

  18. Pedro got a raw deal. Sox have been playing .500 ball under him over the last 2 days, with a +3 run differential. Leave it to the white sox to ignore progress.

  19. He needed 37 more games to qualify for the Baseball-Reference listing of managerial career records. Sigh. Would have been the 3rd worst.

  20. JR is a new level of cheap. Tampa and Cleveland dont spend on the roster, but they invest in development, analytics, drafting and the international free agency. They take raw talented players and get the best out of them. Its not that JR doesn't spend money. He doesn't spend it anywhere. They have the smallest analytics department in the MLB. We dont have a large amateur and professional scouting organization. Its still the good old boys network there. Ancient ideas. The GMs are focused on short term returns. We let the guy we fired shortly after the draft make the first pick, he picked someone who was probably not the best player available but someone who would be able to fill the MLB roster quickly. The current GM probably picked Hagen because they figured Crochet was on his way out. Our free agency is filled with mediocre B level players that we sometimes have to overpay to be here. So if you go to Walmart and buy a 100 dollars worth of Chef Boy R Dee, yes you spent a 100 dollars but that doesnt immediately turn that Chef into a 100 dollar steak because you spent the same. Sure you have more meals, but its not a quality meal. Its just numbers. We dont have a pipeline to fill the ball club at this point. We hire low cost managers. Everyone is wasting their time looking for a replacement, Sizemore is it. JR loves his low cost first time guys. TLR is probably whispering in his ear and Getz is doing whatever TLR says is a good idea. During the "window" we spent oddly. No superstar. Just an assembly of parts, lots of relievers. The owner then imposed his will and put his buddy in charge and then closed the wallet up. Then he stripped this thing to the studs and now is going to anchor attendance before he is going to spend. Sorry you didnt spend to get a superstar to push us over the top or spend wisely the last time. We are not going to be tricked again. I can wait him out, time is on my side.

  21. This is what kills me. If you want to be cheap, that's fine. There are routes to success on that path. Tampa has done a great job there, as had Cleveland. WTF are we doing?

  22. Also we only need look at the recent trade deadline to see how much more available pitching prospects like Eder were about to be. Trading a promising position player with control for a 24 year old pitcher was horrendous value.

  23. If Getz can find the Bannister equivalent on offense as well as firing Paddy and rehauling the international department, I'll hop on the Harold bandwagon on trusting him more.

  24. One of the things that didn't help Pedro was his arrogance with the media. Came out as very cocky

  25. Yes but who is expecting Getz and JR to make a sound decision here. It won’t matter

  26. If they would have canned him at the all star break (which was the obvious solution) they dont get to a 21 game losing streak, nor are they definitely going to break the all time worst record. Getz sucks so so badly

  27. Anyway, let's take the guy in charge of developing that player and make him run the entire org.

  28. Luis Robert is the perfect distillation of the laziness of the White Sox’s staff. Any other, professional organization with a guy coming up with his talent level, they would work with him on good habits like preparing for games and using information to be better. The White Sox firmly believe that this is too much work. This is where the lack of staff employed by the team matters. While he’s coming up, he isn’t coached, and when he’s healthy he has success based solely on his athletic gifts. When he gets to the big leagues, he doesn’t know the coaches names because he doesn’t want coaching and doesn’t believe in it. This has been said publicly, he doesn’t want scouting reports he just wants to do his thing, and no one in the White Sox organization was willing to correct it. Now, it has become a bad habit that he doesn’t think he needs to change, after all he’s an all star. They drop videos about how great of shape he’s in, but not about him working on recognizing pitches or studying film, because convincing him to do that and then teaching him effectively would take hard work, and the White Sox don’t do that. Then a few injuries start nagging more, he goes from 99th percentile skills to something less than that at least for a time, and his athleticism doesn’t carry him as much as he used to. Because they allowed him to get away with not wanting to learn anything, he has not become a smarter player like many guys do with experience, he’s still trying to swing as hard as he can, but it’s just less effective.

  29. Robert strikes me as a guy that if he went to the Dodgers, he’d look like an all-star. He looks like a guy totally checked out

  31. This is bad for baseball. The league shouldn't have a team that others can fatten themselves off of. The White Sox are just not a major league level club. I do get tired of the old solution of a "complete rebuild." What good does it do to trade for young talent when you can't develop it? Or when it is time to add some free agents, but you can't recognize major league talent? That is why someone from the outside needs to come in and evaluate this franchise. Doing the same thing only prolongs bad results. But this would mean the organization would actually have to admit to themselves that they don't know what they are doing. And they wouldn't want to do that. Being in denial is easier. Fire Grifol. So what? HIs replacement will only be mired in a bad system. Spare me the talk about a rebuild. This team has done nothing since winning the division in 2008. Unless there is a massive overhaul of this organization, the losing will continue.

  32. This is the same player who the Sox were trotting out there SWINGING WITH ONE FUCKING ARM. It's safe to assume he's completely done with this organization. He will be a perennial all-star when he's moved, and I'd put money on it.
