I disagree here. For the first few years he was here, I just thought he was young, immature and unlucky. When that carries over into 5-6 years, you start to look at a guy differently. He was the face of the franchise’s future—and that goes both ways. He had the talent, but in the end—his immaturity took over. He and Eloy were the source of the hope but also the face of so many failures—including the most damaging…they contributed mightily to the destruction of the White Sox culture. Their poor work ethic, bad attitudes and immaturity combined with a newfound love of ritz and money and they both worked a system that allowed them to do absolutely nothing and still cash massive checks—all while avoiding the catastrophe of associating with a disastrous on-field product. They were content living it up with their lives in their rehab facilities rather than being with the team. That absolutely burried an already weak franchise who was counting on them—and PAYING them to play. I think they deserve the crap they get. I’m glad Eloy is gone and I can’t wait to see Moncada get cut off from his free ride with us. There are players with better talent who actually want to play baseball who work for those paychecks—let’s focus more on them.3 points

I think this goes back to something that has come up a couple times. The Sox not only have to be high bidders for a free agent but by a significant margin. The "we suck as a franchise penalty". Once we have them, moving then gets tough. Would he have played elsewhere for the same money? A million less? Five million less?2 points

Knights got walked off after a two out rally to tie things up in the 9th. Montgomery vs. velocity has been a topic of discussion. He nailed this 98.5mph fastball for a 106.8mph EV single: DeLoach extended his on base streak to 11 games. He's been on in 27 of his last 28. The most important guys (Colson, Ramos, Elko, Quero, DeLoach, Colas) all got on base at least once with 5 hits and 7 walks between them, but all of the hits were singles and only Colas got more than 1 hence the low score.2 points

I think the interview let Getz sound like what he is, a putz without a plan. When interviewers start getting hostile, it serves as an excuse for the interviewee to shut down or turn the blame on the interviewer. Mike North never seemed to get that. Fans should be emotional, and the interview was enough to evoke emotion without the hosts getting emotional imo.2 points

Hodson assuming ownership of this franchise and immediately cleaning is the dream of all dreams.2 points

To ,me, playing baseball never really seemed like a passion to him. I could be way off. But after his upcoming buyout and his initial signing bonus, he will have been paid over $100 million to play baseball. I can’t see him getting more than a million or two next year with any team. Is that enough to keep him playing? I wonder if he is done with the sport.2 points

Or he has no trust whatsoever in this organization's training and medical staff, and wants to make sure he's healthy when he gets the f*** out of here? I'm not sure how anyone can fault any of the players here with what we have seen over the last decade. They have shown zero competence in not only keeping players healthy, but bringing them back from injury healthy. I was done with this this organization's medical and training staff when I saw their superstar center fielder swinging with one fucking arm.2 points

Sounds like a dude who doesn't trust White Sox staff at all, and probably for good reason with the history he has with them.2 points

Should have never targeted him in a trade, but I’m sure it somehow isn’t Getz’s fault2 points

I've been a Sox fan for 63 seasons now. I'm as embarrassed as I have ever been about this incompetent, dysfunctional and inept organization. Interviewing a subject is an art form, you don't go all balls out, blow the guy up and expect him to ever consent to an interview again. It's called respect and common courtesy whether the subject deserves it on not. Another word is professionalism. You're pissed I get it, you're embarrassed I get it. There's nothing anyone can do about it now but hope for the best and hope to outlive current ownership. That's the way it is. Feel free to have another beer or six. Or do what I've been doing, watching games on You Tube from good seasons (or in my case from out of my library. I've got 74 games dating back to 1981)2 points

On a side note, Maddog went on a 5 minute rant about Reinsdorf on his show at noon on Sirus. Among other things, he wailed on JR for hiring unqualified GMs Hahn and Getz.2 points

This has been my theory for a while now. It wouldn't be like Jerry to leave that kind of a detail to chance with all of the people he's tried to block from MLB.1 point

Who cares what happens to Moncada at this point? I doubt he has another plate appearance for the White Sox. He will no longer be the Sox problem once they inevitably give him his ridiculous $5 million dollar buyout, but it will be worth it to never have to discuss his sorry bust ass again.1 point

That Fedde trade sure is looking Iike a joke, especially when it was considered a sellers market. I basically just wanted to say that to bump this thread because it never should be close to leaving page 1.1 point

That last 3 by Steph was absurd and unfair. Double team, fadeaway tear drop from 25. Never a doubt. Going to say, with 4 MVPs active, this was probably the best group since 92.1 point

He got a nice check to watch this trash. We got nothing. f*** him.1 point

I don't see any issue with his nothing comment here.1 point

Oh he has ace stuff. He just needs to take care of his health and conditioning, which takes a while1 point

Bell is definitely an option, but has been very ordinary the past couple of years. But ordinary is probably an upgrade from Vaughn & Sheets.1 point

I’m good with a Joc signing too. Platoon him only against RHP. Josh Bell is a guy I’d maybe sign for 1B.1 point

It’s been this way for awhile. None of the Chicago media wants to damage their relationships with the teams’ front offices and management by asking tough questions so they just lob softballs.1 point

I won't miss him. He turned into a real Sox fan hater. The team hasn't done anything in over 15 years, and he lashes out at us. Good-bye. His heart wasn't in it for a time anyway. I wondered why he wanted the job. I wonder if Schriffen will have to call Beckham "the legend."1 point

“Hypocrites.” This is a White Sox fan forum. I am a White Sox fan. But I haven’t given JR a dollar of my money in the past three years. When he earns my dollar, I’ll gladly give it to him. But he’s a terrible owner who hires terrible GMs, so I don’t anticipate ever giving him another dollar for years until he fixes his dysfunctional organization that specializes in losing.1 point

I followed you. I was just ranting about Getz. One of my peeves is when idiots like you would meet at Best Buy or Verizon think they are smarter than you and think their speech is pulling the wool over your eyes. Getz is in this category. An imbecile who failed up and is the only one unaware that people are not buying his BS. You can smell the arrogance from this incompetent idiot coming through the airwaves. The hosts were not fooled but you can tell Getz hung up and pointed at himself in the mirror telling himself “job well done!”1 point

It’s obvious from this that Getz is completely full of $hit and it’s obvious that the hosts know it. They weren’t really buying his corporate BS. He’s in completely over his head, like a few of my co workers. I don’t know that he knows he’s over his head. I think he thinks his snake oil BS placated the hosts and the fans. He’s an imbecile.1 point

When does this season start wearing on old ass Jerry?1 point

Here is what I would do. Obviously a trade return for Crochet could potentially change things. I’m also assuming they hold Robert into next season as I don’t think offers will magically get better in the offseason for him. 1B: Vet FA or Trade 2B: Sosa SS: Baldwin* 3B: Vargas LF: Benintendi* CF: Robert RF: Fletcher* DH: Colas* (rotate in OF) CA: Quero# (May 1st) I would not waste a second more on Vaughn or Sheets.1 point

I don’t think it makes sense to spend yet anyway. They should spend on stopgaps, flippable veterans and relievers to trade at the deadline. The Sox will be awful again in 2025. There’s no reason to spend a bunch of money to win 70 games when you can just win 60 games instead. They’ll be in contention for the #1 pick in 2026 draft. Should be pretty obvious now.1 point
