  1. Michael Kopech in an interview after his immaculate inning quite literally told reporters he hadn't been listening to coaching. He needed to go no matter what he did after he left.

  2. Schriffen just called this a "monster series" for the Sox Anyone want to elaborate on what the f*** he's talking about?

  3. Baldwin has sneaky power. Could easily be a 15-20 homer per year kind of guy. Of all the rookie position players they’ve played this season he’s been the most impressive imo.

  4. He’s not ready at all. Way too many of our minor league pitchers struggle with command.

  5. SoxMath....there is an 83% chance that the 1st will be the only inning that the Sox score this evening.

  6. On a serious note, I honestly think fans need to organize a "Sell The Team" game. I don't know what prime games we have left. Yankee games would've been good since JR is from NY. With that stated, everyone wear a shirt or bring a sign and watch security kick everyone out. It would be a blackout protest game and get the point across.

  7. These gigantic salaries are killing the motivation to work hard. Robert and Moncada are very rich men while having limited success.

  8. I love how security thinks it's impossible to get a sell the team sign in. The guy should have told him he packed it under his gun. Amazing how that story just went away.

  9. Yep, I thought the same after his postgame interview after the almost comeback against the Cubs on Friday. Gotta respect him potentially eating the worst record in history record just for an opportunity to get his foot in the door and manage a big league club.

  10. Grady 1000% better than Grifol on interview. Seems like a real, likeable guy not just a guy BSing his way through.

  11. I remember the trade being declared a loss a few days in because Mena hit 95 on a ST gun for Arizona.

  16. Rogers has been bad outside of one year like 3 years ago.

  17. I know he had that bad first game with the Cardinals but it still amazes me how they pulled off that heist. Literally got Fedde for a salary dump. Still think the Dodgers should have just traded directly with the Sox. If they wanted Edman that bad, I'm sure they could have moved something else for him to the Cards (like the piece or two they dealt to the Tigers for Flaherty) at the deadline or offseason.

  18. Yeah kind of funny that you can sneak a gun in and shoot your friend but can't have any hurtful words towards JR displayed. Soft

  19. Robert has been in the league for way too long to still have no idea what a good at bat is. Even in what was considered a good season for him last year he still had a .315 OBP. That’s not a good way to have sustainable success. My guess is that Robert is the type of guy that has gotten by on pure talent/being bigger, faster, stronger his entire life and now that he has to adjust, make changes, and even study it’s just not happening. Hopefully this is a wake up call for him, but I also think a mentor would sure help. Unfortunately I’m not sure that person exists within the Sox organization.

  20. The Sox could spend a billion dollars this offseason in total contracts, bring in Juan Soto, Pete Alonzo, and Corbin Burns, and still not be a .500 team.

  21. Most players do not play for the sake of the game anymore. Those days seem to be gone or those players seem to be gone. Luis has very little love for the game and is at a point where he clearly does not care. He went from being poor to being rich with the swing of a bat. It's too bad since he really does have that much talent. I'll take the Rowands and Konerkos every day over the Roberts of the world.

  23. Benintendi sucks, I wish they could strap him and Crochet onto a rocket and fire them into the sun for all I care.

  24. Seriously. You should be able to call up your triple A catcher and get that kind of "output" for $750k, and save yourself $3.5 million.

  25. It's so penny wise and a pound foolish. How much did we waste on free agents since then? I've counted close to 100M in buyouts. You could buy the top analyitics and scouting staff in baseball just off the amount of money the White Sox have paid players not to play the last five years. You can't tell me that with a better staff we still sign Maldonado I mean anyone with two working brain cells saw this was going to be the result.

  26. Been saying this point for a long time. There isn't any point. History has shown us time and time again Jerry isn't willing to compete or engage on the same playing field as others in his sport. Not only will he not spend on high priced free agents, but he won't invest in qualified front office staff, analytics, scouting, international, etc. No one is asking him to spend like the Dodgers. Most teams don't. But you don't have to do that to be competitive in most seasons. Look at the Brewers, the Guardians, Rays...They understand their payroll limitations and have put resources into player development and have established organizational philosophies that have made them some of the better franchises in the sport. White Sox ownership has no interest in that. So until that changes, nothing will.

  27. We need everything, it’s been years since we’ve had a MLB rightfielder or second baseman.

  28. The game is so different. I used to play Strat-o-matic as a kid. I loved homers, hits and walks. Dave Kingman was a whiff machine back in the day. But his career high was 156, which is close to the pace Andrew Vaughn is on this year, and whiff machine doesn't even cross my mind thinking of him.

  32. Very nice. But am I crazy to be surprised that no one has done this since 1901? Seems like it would have happened more than once in that amount of time.

  33. Great observation by some posters in the game thread, and Stone went so far as to address it. LOL…

  34. It will be more of the same. Getz will be dumpster diving again, and likely failing at it just like last offseason.

  35. I know it bothers people, but literally no home broadcast in a professional setting would crap on their own players in 2024. Baltimore guy got suspended for much less.

  36. That should be obvious TBH. Most of the roster doesn't deserve to be in baseball, plus the short term to free agency guys should be moved.

  39. This seems unnecessary and ironically a personal attack in itself. I enjoy Lip’s work. The interview is decent I think. As mentioned you have to toe certain lines if you want continued access.

  40. He’d be nuts to give a timeline. It just depends. They’ll be awful in 2025. Could they be fun in 2026? It’s possible depending on prospect performances. They could start spending in 2027. Getz would be crazy to lay out a timeline. Theo Epstein never did.

  41. I'd feel better if he was more baseball savvy personally

  42. This kid hit the cover off the ball, even with elbow issues? Makes me want him even more, and the TJ surgery just ensures that he matches the Sox timeline to competitiveness better, since next year and likely more seasons will be a losing effort. If Vargas even pans out, how many years of control will the Sox have left on him by the time they are able to surround him without enough talent for the team to win?

  43. Chris Getz recommended Ron883 as a poster on Soxtalk. True story, I was there.

  44. Getz essentially burned $24 million in a fire pit this past offseason. That’s pretty much Bryce Harper’s annual salary. Brebbia - $5.5 million Maldonado - $4.5 million Lopez - $ 4.3 million Soroka - $3 million Clevinger - $3 million Hill - $1.8 million Flexen - $1.75 million There is also the awful trade for Dominic Fletcher that cost Christian Mena, and the fact that Getz/Barfield chose Fletcher as the return over .800 OPS Jake McCarthy. The trade for Bailey Horn, whom was later dumped for cash. DFA’ing Romy González and Declan Cronin. DFA’ing Kevin Pillar too early. I’m sure there’s more, but those are the ones I remember.
