Bottom line is Grifol was a horrible manager of a horrible baseball team put together by a horrible GM who answers to a horrible owner.6 points

On one hand Sox fans think their players are lazy and only care about image (Moncada, Eloy, Robert), and then it's the manager's fault for being too hard on them. I think there's a certain part of the fan base who just masturbates to anything negative because they think it makes them edgy.5 points

I mean it makes perfect sense. Like when Pedro said he "wouldn't watch the eclipse because there are more important things to be doing". Stop being a tryhard, you aren't losing any edge by spending 5 mins of your 8+ hour day at the park enjoying something.5 points

Can't wait to get those prospects for Wilson to complete the Cease deal.4 points

You seem to want to ignore all of his bad acquisitions and trades. Fletcher over McCarthy? The relievers he got rid of are better than the ones he kept. The trade deadline was a failure. Vargas? Just because the Sox were expected to be bad this season doesn’t mean we should absolve Getz of all of his bad moves. Here’s how bad the lineup that Getz built is… The Angels just DFA’ed and sent OF Willie Calhoun outright to Triple-A Salt Lake. He would be one of the Sox best hitters. 254 PA .245 AVG / .315 OBP / .380 SLG / .695 OPS 5 HR 20 RBI 23 BB 31 SO3 points

I mean this respectfully, but it’s easier if you don’t try to make sense of things they do/will do. It’s a mom and pop diner trying to go up against legit franchises.2 points

Perfect example of what makes bad players bad and good players good. Not only is it the physical tools that are less but also the mental part of the game. Now things might've turned out slightly different if the ump had called an obvious strike a strike and called Altuve out but things spiraled after that. ALtuve gets a 2nd life ,gets a 2 RBI hits while the Stros broadcasters say it didnt look like Robert went after the ball that hard to try to prevent the runner on 2nd from scoring. Then Alvarez down 0-2 and Altuve thinks oh the next pitch might be in the dirt I'll take off if it is. He does and Robinson seems shocked. He blocked the pitch but it wasn't like he sprung out of his crouch . He casually went after it .Next pitch Flexen isn't holding Altuve at 2nd so he steals third. This is a guy who has never taken his talent for granted. He thinks, he hustles. So now the infield comes in with him on 3rd and Alvarez dumps an RBI single that likely would've been caught if the infield was back.2 points

And Getz wasted $25 million on these bums. He should’ve donated that money to charity rather than burn it in a fire pit on the worst team in history.2 points

An apt comparison for the 2024 Chicago White Sox.2 points

This has been Robert’s last 30 days, before last night: 92 PA, .135/.163/.213, HR, 3.3% BB, 46.7% K Thats worst player in the league category. With his talent, that’s more than just a “rough patch” or “bad streak” Dude is checked out. Also is dealing with no lineup protection, has been hurt…but this is more than him just being unlucky. A 46.7% k rate?? Yikes2 points

Or. In a market where local sports media is more worried about access over anything resembling investigative reporting, some sort of a minimal look at the view from the locker room could be interesting to some in a season where we haven't gotten much behind the scenes as to why and what players might be thinking.2 points

Edgy? Lol Anyway, I think there’s a lot more nuance to it. For instance, both of your above examples can be true.2 points

I would be happy if they could win one game a series which I believe would give them 43 wins and avoid being the worst team in the modern era. That’s pretty bad that things are so lousy that I’d be happy with 43 wins but it is what it is.2 points

Sure. I’d take Hagen Smith and Edgar Quero over anyone in the Orioles system after Basallo once the other two graduate. You wouldn’t? Everyone raves about Dylan Beavers. Dude is hitting .239 in AA as a 23 year old. Povich is their #5 prospect? Seriously? He sucks.2 points

HOUSTON YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. Seriously, how do you lose to the White Sox?2 points

TJ McCants in his first 3 games: 5-12 with a 3B, 2 HR, a walk, and a SB for a casual 1.545 OPS. Also plays a nice CF. I like him. Jeral Perez also hit his first HR as a Sox today: https://www.milb.com/video/jeral-perez-s-solo-homer?t=playerid-8004192 points

That Fedde trade sure is looking Iike a joke, especially when it was considered a sellers market. I basically just wanted to say that to bump this thread because it never should be close to leaving page 1.2 points

Your version of horrible is actually a 2 game improvement over our 6-24 start to this season.1 point

You're exactly correct there is no hope until new ownership arrives. And I believe this is the 18th straight game the Sox have lost that Flexen has started.1 point

This doesn’t make much sense. The Sox have had far worse players under big contracts that barely played due to being injury-prone and sucked even when they actually did play (see Moncada and Eloy). Benintendi at least stays healthy and plays, and now he is actually on a hot streak.1 point

There is no reason not to bring in Elias Diaz instead of having Robinson play. If anything, Diaz plays well here and maybe you want to bring him back.1 point

Why not? Just because they are out of it doesn't mean they should stop trying to find some possible options for next season. DLS was quite effective in 2022-23.1 point

People like you take it beyond streaky though. You make it personal. Like “he doesn’t care” blah blah. That’s who he is. He’s not Soto. He’s Luis Robert, and he’s better at baseball than either of us will ever be at anything in our entire life.1 point

I know there wasn't a lot of hope for this season, but literally no one said worst season in the history of baseball.1 point

I wonder who the Dodgers will have to give up so the Cardinals can get him next trade deadline.1 point
