  1. It was. Now make the anniversary even better and fire Getz's ass today.

  2. I’m positive that my elation of that moment was quickly extinguished when it became apparent what was happening next. Pretty sure boob let us know Getz was coming to rescue Harold and torment the rest of us

  3. Yeah, no ONE deal killed this team. But when you start piecing together Jake McCarthy instead of Fletcher, a different Bummer trade that was supposedly out there, stronger returns for Kopech and Fedde, the 3 or 4 guys who ended up being decent relievers who went through Chicago and were dumped by Getz...and move after move like it, yeah you aren't getting a playoff team out of this mess, but say a 60 to 70 win team isn't out of the question. And while it isn't like we are making the playoffs, not being the worst team in baseball history is a good thing. THIS is what Chris Getz should be grilled for. Yeah, he inherited what he inherited, but we can judge him for what he has done, or hasn't done in some cases.

  4. Nah, it was a shitty day because they solved nothing and in fact double, tripled down on in house bullshit hires. f*** this entire franchise. Fire Getz.

  5. Jake is better than Vaughn or Sheets. He is 4-5 inches taller than AV and should have been our 1B this year. He is better than anyone we've played at 3B as well. Plus he's not a sourpuss. One thing about this years team is every player on it has under achieved. Jake plays hard and with a smile.

  6. Good thing we didn't lose a year and that Reinsdorf gave us what we deserved as a fanbase.

  7. Reindorf deserves to get called out but for all you younger Sox fans you might not know about Einhorn's disaster. Eddie Einhorn takes it upon himself without GM Roland Hemond's involvement in tossing Doug Drabek in as a player to be named later in a 1986 trade with the Yankees. Hemond was stunned with the absolute stupidity by Eddie but had to keep his mouth shut. Drabek won the Cy Young in 1990 with the Pirates and was a stud from the late 1980's through the mid 1990's. The 1990 White Sox won 94 games with a young up and coming team, adding Drabek to that team would have been special. I wouldn't be surprised if Lip has written articles about this in the past.

  8. Well written article, covered a lot of his history and dubious. Lmao at stanky calling it “hardly great journalism”. Did you read past the title?

  9. And a 60-70 team with a rebuilt farm system can look forward. The worst team in baseball history combined with Colson, other offensive prospects regressing and making Miguel Vargas your cornerstone deadline acquisition, 🤷🏻‍♂️.

  10. Until we realized not only had nothing changed, but somehow JR replaced a couple poor GMs for an even worse one.

  11. The most maddening thing is that there is no reason why the Chicago White Sox couldn't draft & develop MLB talent regularly while also carrying a $150M payroll and be in the postseason hunt year after year. JR is the sole roadblock. His chairmanship has destroyed the team, the org, and the fanbase; possibly irreparably.

  12. Burger has a career .800 OPS. Eder was never ranked that high as a prospect, ever, not sure where you are getting that from. He has pretty much always been the definition of a B-, back of rotation ceiling type prospect

  13. I liked the guy and his attitude and was sad to see him go. As you said he would be the best player on the 2024 White Sox.

  14. I get your point but it seems like the one path to sustained success is the pipeline. That’s it. Having the best pipeline should be the investment

  15. I just find your constant criticism of the posters here who are, QUITE UNDERSTANDABLY, pissed off and fed up with this organization, to be absolutely fucking absurd. This is the worst team in a century, and you expect people to ...what? Celebrate when they win one out of every 4-5 games? Come off of it already.

  16. The best instructors. The best talent evaluators. Fixing the Latin America facilities. Using all of the international allotment instead of trading it for salary relief. Better personnel means better players.

  18. I don’t think anyone dismisses that Jerry is the larger problem for the Sox. Jerry being a terrible owner with restrictions and front office personnel sucking at their job can both be true.

  19. How big of a raise would it take for someone from a top organization to leave to that over the Sox in the same role? That's one person. I think by the end of the process of hiring many more it would be a considerable amount of money. We're not even a good stepping stone for talented people to fast track their careers. There is a high price for being an historically bad franchise. Then the next problem. Explaining that after we invested all this money on FO talent there is no money left over to pay for top players.

  23. Excellent post. I am sick of reading posts about how there was absolutely nothing that Getz could have done or done differently. Yeah, he wasn’t going to make the playoffs but if he didn’t make such awful moves, the Sox wouldn’t be on pace for the worst record in MLB history.

  24. Sure, they gave up on him. But they should have realized Moncada was already a sunk cost based on his track record. They still could have given him plenty of time at DH based on his 2023 performance alone...but the weird fascination with Sheets somehow prevailed for what reason looks at fangraphs or the back of Gavin's baseball card? Burger was one of the few players last year producing surplus value for the Sox. The best example this year in Crochet will also likely be traded for a 25-50% discount if they force Benintendi's remaining contract into the deal. Turning assets into Vargas'es. Leaving Las (Lost) Vargas.

  25. First time he’s ever faced adversity in his baseball career. We’ll see what he’s made of. If he turns it around next year, this year will be looked at as a blessing. Obviously a big if, though.

  27. Very true an idea like I wrote that was brilliant but was ahead of its time and doomed to fail because of outside forces. And of course his comment at the press conference about running a "first class operation" was ill advised with Bill Veeck sitting right there.

  33. They leave, and they are replaced by the next batch of young, cheap players. You invest in the pipeline, and you get a constant churn of young, controllable talent.

  34. For me it's not really the money, it's the time investment. Between driving to the park, back home and the game itself its 4 or 5 hours to watch non competitive boring baseball. Lower ticket prices don't fix that. There are usually 9 or 10 games on MLB TV that are more interesting without the time commitment.

  35. Where is that range of OPS coming from? Hate to see hat you would extrapolate Eder's numbers to in the majors already discounting performance at the big league level now. Joke of a steal by the Marlins...who had to have a pretty strong belief that he had already peaked with them.

  36. Must have hit a nerve. If you love something and I assume we all love the Sox since we all continue to post here we should know we have no influence over what happens to the team. I focus on the bad many times. I just focus it where I think it belongs which is JR. But I can also, since I love the Sox, see some good things and am only reminding people that it's not ALL bad . There are reasons why most of you don't post in the Future Sox section of this board. They discourage the toxicity of Pale Hose talk there . They purposefully try to keep people letting the prospect route take it's course through it's ups and downs without scathing criticism.

  38. Praise doesn't come easy when the team is going to end the season as the worst team in the history of modern baseball. You have to be shitting me with posts like this, given the state of this franchise and how this season has gone. Lol

  39. WS has been shutout 3 games in a row, despite outhitting the opposition in the last two. Unfortunate. Jake Peppers had one no good, very bad 6 run inning, and Kanny lost 7-3. Barons bats started off hot and never looked back, they won 8-2. Veras continued a 14 game on base streak with a 3-5 night. Schweitzer had maybe his best start of the season. 6IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 6K. Gets the W. Pallette made his AA debut and picked up where he left off for the Dash: 2IP, 0H, 0BB, 2K.

  40. Praise doesn't come easy when a team is going to lose well over 100 games. When it is two consecutive 100 loss seasons doesn't help either, especially when it has never happened in team history. Don't worry. Another losing streak is on the way.

  42. Did the baseball gods look down on this game and get the teams and uniforms mixed up. How is this possible?? The bullpen throws five shutout innings AND/ ALSO the Sox score four runs in the nine inning. IN THE SAME GAME??? That's what's been happening to the Sox all year!!!!

  45. I'm less worried about the 2025 MLB payroll and more worried about: 1. Analytics budget 2. Player development budget ...not that we'd really get to see that, but the MLB goals for 2025 should be: 1. If lower-ceiling players (the Sosas of the world) are close to ready, give them playing time and development opportunities at the MLB level. 2. Fill the other positions with intelligent flippable-reclamation-project signings. Guys like Flexen, etc., who can come cheap, but this time, focus on players that the analytics and player development staff identify as "we can fix that" guys. If they aren't working out, dump 'em early and move onto the next guy. If they somehow work out, flip 'em for AA / AAA prospects. 2025 will be painful regardless at the MLB level, so you might as well focus on building up assets to have some hope of a core to emerge in 2026. So, in summary, we're all doomed.
