  2. I mean, I guess you can question it, but I don’t think you’re going to find the answers you’re wanting to find. Moncada was coming off a really good 2019, so it’s misleading to say he never proved anything. Sucks how it played out but the process made sense at the time for an org that doesn’t pay up for top tier free agents. Also, Quintana, Sale, TA, Robert all seemed to have worked out. Acuna, like Moncada, was coming off a first good season when he got his extension. Seems like he hasn’t had any issues being motivated after getting paid. Jackson Chourio is looking like a future superstar so far. I think your post is a pretty broad generalization and is heavy on hindsight.

  3. Nastrini looked fantastic. Was throwing a ton of sliders that had some of the best swing and miss stuff I've ever seen from him. If he can get his fastball over and throw the slider he had tonight he's a legit big league starter.

  4. I wish I were a fly on the wall when Getz traded with LA. LA: What're you gonna do, Getz? Deadline almost here. Getz: Who do you want? LA: Kopech. Getz: What about Fedde? LA: We got him going to Cards for an outfielder for us. Getz: What do we get? LA: Vargas. Used to be a great prospect. He'll fit right in with Sox. Getz: Not enough. LA: OK. We'll throw in a couple 19-year-old kids who might be good some day. They're small, but slow. Fit right in with your org. Getz: Done. Thanks.

  6. Ky Bush looked like me drunk trying to pitch and Vargas looked like me drunk trying to play third.

  7. You add up his and Vargas batting averages with the White Sox, it doesn’t add up to .200. I could be wrong, but the evidence so far suggests, Getz and his lackeys have no idea when it comes to finding offense. For the love of God, quit wasting time and fire him.

  8. Danks' extension is the reason JR won't give out another 4/5 year deal.

  9. When you have an owner that doesn’t pay for stars, locking up your young stars to team friendly extensions is good business.

  10. Oh, God forbid the Sox have a legitimately good minor league system that can actually develop their own good position players that give the Sox 6 years of control before they hit free agency. Seems like a better plan than quickly extending busts like Eloy and Moncada from other teams, while also wasting $25 to $30 million each offseason on cheap dumpster diving. It’s amazing to me that you have apparently watched this team for years and don’t see a problem with the way they do business, and don’t think a change of strategy might be worthwhile. Their current strategy hasn’t worked since 2005, but let’s keep doing stupid things just because… Have you heard of teams named the Rays? The Orioles? Would you rather be the Sox or the Rays/Orioles?

  15. LOL Tatum just stole home to walk it off for the Barons, 3-2. 5IP scoreless for the BP following up Schultz. 2IP for Plymell, another 2IP for Pallette who looks like a fast mover now that he's found his role, and 1IP/2K and the W for Zach Franklin. And now that the higher level games are wrapped up, I can shout out our other lefty first rounders for having good days on the other side of the ball. Colson had a 3-4 night with a BB and RBI, and Gonzo was 2-3 with 1 2B, BB, and SB. Knights offense was hot overall today. They won 10-1. Ramos 2-4 with a BB, DeLoach 2-5 with a RBI, Elko 1-5 with a 2RBI 2B. Scoreless BP work from Peralta (2IP), Berroa, and Coffey. Peralta has a 1.27 ERA/0.81 WHIP for Charlotte. I've liked him since his AFL stint, so I'm glad we got him back.

  16. I want to highlight some newer/lesser known guys in Kanny, who won tonight 5-1. One is 21yo RHSP Ricardo Brizuela, who threw his best start of the season today: 6IP, 1ER, 3H, 1BB, 3K. If you ignore his very first A ball inning where he got tagged for 6 runs, he's got a 1.86 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 38.2IP at the level. And even after the terrible first inning, he battled to still give the team 5IP in that first start. There's also a pair of new bats off to good starts at the level. IF Sam Antonacci (5th round) was 3-4 with a pair of doubles today, and has quietly overtaken Wolkow with a .828 OPS (.289/.460/.368). A silly 11 BB to 6 K in 12 games. And corner IF Alec Makarewicz (UDFA) who has hit in 12 straight and is slashing .295/.377/.410 with 18 hits/12RBI in his 16 games.

  26. Charlotte send 9 to the plate in the first, and spot Nastrini a 6-0 lead. He has a quick 1-2-3 inning to get the bats back out there. Schultz got burned by back to back errors for a pair of unearned runs. Smith pitched out of second and third 1 out (two singles, the second an unlucky chopper where a late throw to third let the runner advance) with a pair of Ks. He's done after 3IP/38P. 4 strikeouts, no walks (but one HBP), 2 singles, every BIP was on the ground.

  32. If Jerry won't go longer than 3 years then the Sox going to be signing a lot of Lance Lynn types and those guys come with their own risks of falling off a cliff at any point in their mid 30s.

  33. Smith debut is free to watch, should be around 3 innings from him (though it's apparently more of a pitch limit than an innings limit).

  34. Pretty good night for some of the new guys and prospects. Autumn sumates better. Saucke 2hits, first homer. Nishida doing Nishida things, three hits and walk. Burke solid 4.6 2er, 0w, 8k. Iriarte effectively wild with five shutout but 6 w,6k.

  35. Can I revise my grade I gave Getz for picking up Vargus? I am hoping something clicks with this guy and he performs like the highly rated prospect he once was. Larry Himes at 83 years old could make better decisions than Getz.

  36. "Chicago has a strong argument for having the two best left-handed pitching prospects in the minor leagues in Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith, two 21-year-olds with hellacious stuff from unusual arm slots who have dominated batters in recent years: Schultz in the minors since being Chicago’s first-round draft pick in 2022 out of an Illinois high school and Smith in the SEC at the University of Arkansas before he was selected fifth by the White Sox in this year’s draft. Should Chicago keep Crochet, it’s difficult to imagine a nastier trio of southpaws in the same rotation, but even if Crochet is dealt before these two debut, Smith and Schultz look like ideal arms to build around. Beyond them, there’s a quartet of talented arms acquired in recent trades — Ky Bush, Jake Eder, Jairo Iriarte and Nick Nastrini — who should contribute to the 2025 pitching staff, while Seth Keener and Grant Taylor are recent draft picks off to strong starts to their pro careers but a little bit further away." from the Jake Mintz article i just posted...which also discussed Cannon and Thorpe "On a positive note, the most intriguing ultra-young bat to know is George Wolkow, a gigantic, 18-year-old outfielder with seismic raw power, though he has serious strikeout issues that will need to be corrected for his production to hold up at higher levels. All of which is to say: While there are a ton of exciting arms making meaningful strides toward contributing in Chicago in the near future, at the end of the day, you need to score more runs than the other team. As things stand, it’s not readily apparent how soon the White Sox can field a formidable lineup capable of supporting what projects to be a sneaky solid pitching staff in the not-too-distant future. Among the many tall tasks that await Getz and his new mystery manager, building a competent offense will be one of the toughest."

  40. Or she already knows that there is no proof that she ever had a gun in the park during the game because the police helped her cover it up at the direction of her friend, the mayor, and her friend smuggled the gun out of the park for her immediately after the accidental discharge. This is the story I heard from a friend, who has a buddy in the CPD. Even before contemplating the ridiculous physics it would take for a bullet to enter the park from outside, Occam's razor tells you the answer. This woman has been lying her ass off this entire time and is now trying to cash in because she knows there is no evidence against her and that they will settle with her so she goes away for good. The likely settlement will involve an NDA so she can never discuss the incident again. Her shadowy interview with ABC7 was an embarrassment. https://abc7chicago.com/amp/white-sox-shooting-victim-interview-guaranteed-rate-field-chicago-public-schools/13839792/ The article you linked also says that she is “seeking damages in excess of $50,000 dollars.” My guess is that it is probably quite a bit more than $50 grand.

  44. Not a troll at all. We never build. If we have something of value we use it to fill a hole. The answer of course is to invest in the system WITHOUT taking money away from the payroll. The reason we suck year after year is the constant taking away from areas that are barely good to eliminate the problem areas. It's literally rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

  46. I also hate the lottery. Maybe have a lottery between the 4 worst teams or so, but that the guardians who had the 9th worst record and made the alds a year before (more a down year of some guys rather than being really bad) got the first pick imo is a distortion of competition.
