And i have said this a million times, and will say it once more, but I don't blame Getz for getting us to a 61 win team last year. I won't hold guys like Benny, Yoan, Eloy, etc over him. I will judge him for what he has done since he got here a year ago, which is based on his moves that have managed to bleed 20 wins out of a 60 win team. Despite having some insanely high end talent, he hasn't managed to add nearly enough young talent to the system. We still trail not only the AL Central in real time, but almost all of the AL Central in terms of farm system. It's hard to make up ground when your future view is also behind everyone else. His biggest trade this year of Fedde which resulted in a former top prospect coming to the Sox was made based on the recommendation not of a scout, but an assistant hitting coach who was also fired weeks later. When you see that from the outside, how do you feel like we are going in the right direction? Outside of Brian Bannister, literally all I have seen is that apparently this is everyone else's fault, except the guy who was in charge of the minor league system which hasn't been able to produce one every day starter this year, in a year with literally no standards as to who gets put on to the active roster.4 points

Meaning no offense, but it’s my understanding that you report on the Sox in some capacity? Given that, I understand why you would take a more conservative approach to criticizing any aspect of the team as that can play into access to the team. The rest of us don’t have that issue. We can let loose and blow off some steam. The guy sucks. We don’t want him making decisions anymore.4 points

Nothing wrong with fans venting about being stuck with an unqualified and completely over-his-head GM when we’re in the midst of the worse season in baseball history. This has been a damaging season for many of us and I have accepted the fact my sons will never be diehard Sox fans because of how bad Jerry and his incompetent group of lieutenants have destroyed the franchise and how many years it’s going to take to right this ship with them in charge. And the fact that he’s in year one doesn’t prevent us from assessing him on his performance so far. Yes, the org needs a lot of long-term transformation and that will obviously take time, but in the interim we can be disappointed with most of the trades Getz has made, question their pro scouting of positional players, and not give him a free pass for an inability to develop minor league hitters given he inherited that lack of infrared from himself.4 points

If they don’t win this one, another 10+ game losing streak is looming which…is exactly what I’m hoping for.3 points

And even with Bannister, he has the worst pitching staff in the AL, second only to Colorado in team ERA. He focused on defense, and that sucks so bad. We weren't expecting 90 wins, but it's obvious he isn't the guy for the job. Move on3 points

This isn't like the usual nervousness of a 16 year old driving a car this first time. This that same kid crossing 3 lanes and ramming into a tree at 60 mph. Do you really need to see more before you go maybe he's not ready for this yet? We can give him credit for putting his seatbelt on first, but everything else is just scary.3 points

Admit your mistake and fire him. Before hired, he was one of 2 things. Either someone who deserved his fair share of blame for the failure leading up to firing his bosses, or he was a coffee boy. Either way, he wasn’t qualified, and you can see that every day. It’s ludicrous he has a job.3 points

I called it at the time. Fedde trade was a complete and unmitigated disaster. Whoever recommended him should be fired along with Getz. Not like you couldn’t see this when Vargas was a Dodger. You could.3 points

Nice decision to start the game, good lord2 points

Eloy will always be the same unless if he finally decides to change his work habits. Rodon did it. He was a dog until he was non-tendered. Maybe this will be the wake up call Eloy needs too. I have my doubts but it's possible. I also have my doubts about Robert. I have no doubts about Moncada. He's never changing.2 points

Oscar Colas...come on down. I can't imagine why any Hispanic player would want to be anywhere around the White Sox now, if you throw in Robert's darkest thoughts about quitting the sport. Grandal Moncada and Eloy just about imploded...and Abreu very nearly with the Sox for his nadir. Then you have Vargas looking like a lost/abandoned puppy.2 points

We must have some of the worst scouts in MLB because most of this forum saw one game of his and knew he was s%*#. I mean I took one look at his statcast and confirmed it in his first AB as well. He's a slap hitter with some speed that has no defensive position. What are we doing here? He's a utility guy at best.2 points

Agreed. Would love to break the White Sox loss record on Sunday by having their third 10+ game losing streak of the season and to say they broke the record with basically an entire month of baseball left.2 points

My dream, and I don’t think it’s possible to pull this off, is they go 1-29 over the last 30. 130 losses. Never be topped. In 100 years when some team is having a terrible season they’ll say “we’re not good but we’ll never catch the 2024 White Sox!”2 points

I could certainly explain it away as Getz seeing a guy who might need a slight tweak to become a .300/.400/.500 hitter. But I don't think that's Amaya, and that's not the White Sox at this time. This is more disappointing than enraging. Maybe Amaya is a better Sosa, in theory. Ramos should be the starting 3B right now. I'd actually flip Ramos and Vargas, let Vargas find whatever he needs to find at Charlotte.2 points

- His only trade that is an outright win is Robbie Grossman. Santos is probably the next closest due to the draft pick. - Offensive prospects took a huge step back. - Failed in his major goal of improving the defense. - On track for worst record of modern era. - Signed/traded for several players who have zero or negative value: Maldonado, Vargas, Shuster, half the bullpen, Julks, Senzel, Clevinger, Stassi, - Dumped useful players for nothing: Pillar, Romy, Cronin. Like, he's a bad GM.2 points

Are you saying that you think he is not a complete failure as an employee of the Chicago White Sox? How log of a rope does he get for hiring Bannister? That is the only thing he has done right.2 points
-
What has he done his year on the job, a year, according to the guy who hired him, couldn't be wasted, says to you he is the right guy for the job? It's like Pedro, I wouldn't expect the White Sox to be in contention no matter who JR hired last year, but it's obvious this guy was a mistake. If time is truly of the essence, he needs to go or you will be wasting several more years until enough is enough.2 points
-
I really don't think there is anything that can possibly happen that will fundamentally change the way JR operates the White Sox, and until he dies, he isn't going anywhere either. That could be tomorow, that could be 10 years from now. I wish no one whose most evil thing they have done is run a sports franchise into the ground death, but are we supposed to stop discussing the team? Nothing is going to change.2 points

And also, he was a part of the org during the last regime. If Marco Paddy has to go, why does Getz, who was bad in his old job and has continued to make bad moves while in a position of power, get a pass?2 points

This thread is humorous to me. Chris Getz is in year one. I can’t argue that he’s good but he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. What a massive waste of time.2 points

There are a decent number of bullpens that are just not very good....not as bad as the White Sox but still not very good. It is absolutely astounding that a major league ballclub cannot score against any of those other bullpens. I know some people here do not want to hear the broken record of fire Getz but the man has absolutely no idea how to evaluate talent. There is no reason he should be employed after this season with the bullpen and offense that he assembled...along with totally screwing the pooch at a trade deadline that was supposed to be a sellers' market.2 points

For this decision, Getz likely listened to Mike Tosar, the former Dodgers scout that initially signed Vargas. Mike Tosar, also the same Sox assistant hitting coach that was fired a week after Vargas was acquired.2 points

Bryan Ramos is raking at AAA. I'm not sure why bringing him up to the parent club and DFAing Senzel is a bad move. They should also drop Bush back to AAA and maybe get another look at Nastrini. Have an extra bullpen arm until Bush's slot comes up again. I don't get Jacob Amaya, but maybe it's just to have a body at AAA to replace Ramos. Again, I don't see how parking a warm body at AAA is an example of "being bad at his job".1 point

I mean, he's 28 and has had 6 years of being a bad player. We'll beat the horse into glue, but players like Robles and Bart have shown more and they just slid on by in favor of Martin Maldonado, Corey Julks and Tommy Pham. Edit: Want to clarify that this isn't a shot at you, just stressing that despite having first dibs, Getz can't even make the right call on waiver claims.1 point

I’m actually rooting for Jerry and Getz to own the record. It couldn’t happen to a worse owner and a more unqualified GM. It would be very fitting for them both to own it.1 point

I’m glad that there are more outside hires coming. It’s a huge positive. Chris Getz didn’t hire himself. I’d personally prefer to be optimistic about this plan instead of just bitching and moaning over things I can’t control every day. Maybe that’s just me though.1 point
