Aside from Jerry, it’s looking like Getz might have been a bigger problem than Rick and Kenny. Some evidence of this would be, all the apparent “problem people” are leaving and they are getting much worse. RH/KW had their own issues obviously (Pedro was the cherry on top) but it was Getz’s failure in player development that forced RH/KW to always try to roll the dice on trades and find FA lightning in a bottle till someone was ready to call up—that talent never came! Getz’s recent comments are as bad as it gets from a GM. Simply offensive. Those comments make him look like he’s a child with no understanding of how things work. Then he stands there on the cusp of being the worst team in history and reflects on his best memory??? He’s no longer standing in the middle of the fire—the fire is long over! He’s standing on unprecedented scorched earth with everything already destroyed and has the gaul to say “my best memory is when I decided to make Crochet a starting pitcher.” What an immature loser! The only ones left standing are Getz and Jerry. Ladies and gentlemen—I give you—“the core of the problem.”5 points

He also made a big thing about Hagen meeting Crochet. Hagen was on the broadcast and said he didn't meet Crochet.4 points

Here is the link to the full session if you care to watch. Theres so many concerning answers in here which terrify me but the one that really caught me, as a business professional, is when one of the media members asked a question related to how much Getz talks about “processes.” It made me wonder…for a guy that’s supposed to be the single baseball decision maker for a multi-billion dollar organization, what actual formal training and education does he have? The guy has a bachelors degree in “Sports Management” and most of us know what that major means in real life…aka nothing. Has he ever done a Lean/Six Sigma certification? Has he ever done a PMP course? Has he ever done advanced training beyond a 300 level semester long college course in Organizational Behavior? Agile Methodology ? Human Resources Development? I am pretty confident the answer to all of the above is no. His only qualification is that he played the sport, has a largely meaningless undergrad degree, and on the job training in two organizations; one of which largely underperforms competitively and the other which may be the most dysfunctional franchise in professional sports. My head almost exploded when he kept saying process, rebuild, blah, blah, blah then the actual words came out of his mouth, “there is no timeline.” Like what in the actual f***? That phrase would give a rookie project manager night terrors, let alone the General Manager of a 2.1 billion dollar organization with hundreds of employees and thousands of stakeholders going through a massive structural rebuild. It’s actually stunning, even for this team. The entire interview is wild.4 points

Yeah, the interview was a bit weird. They asked him about meeting Crochet, and he said he wasn't there when he went to the locker room. Then steve asked him if they had talked about his off season program, and he said they hadn't in any detail. Then they quit asking him meaningful questions.3 points
-
And that’s the thing, they’ve traded so many assets the last 15 months and have so little to show for it. Probably set the rebuild back 2-3 years.3 points
-
No no no, it's not his fault because the Sox were never able to develop depth while he was responsible for that aspect of the org. Every time he opens his mouth he makes me realize that he didn't go to Michigan to play school.3 points

So why before the season were we told the bullsh*t that he was being hired to avoid another lost season and to compete sooner? Also what does he predict for next season? Because most people see a similar 100 loss season for 2025.3 points

It’s almost like the GM providing the managers a pathetic lineup that can’t score run with a terrible pitching staff makes it hard to win games.2 points

I literally can't describe something I have seen change since Pedro left.2 points

I don’t know what other people think and I have never been a big Len Kasper fan because I think his voice sounds too much like Kermit the Frog but he is better than Schriffen. It also seems like The Legend actually respects him more than Schriffen. Stone actually responds to Kasper quickly and they just sound better as a tandem together.2 points

Nope. The Sox will then pivot and say that they loved what they saw from Sizemore working with the young players, and that Grady convinced them to hire him full-time. 🤣2 points

I wasn't before, but after these quotes, I am openly cheering for Chris Getz and Jerry Reinsdorf to be able to say they put together the worst MLB team of all time. I hope they embrace it.2 points
-
And with every failed trade return, it puts dependence on the thing that the Sox have done worse than anything in drafting and development.2 points
-
This quote might be fitting a year ago when he took over. But sorry my dude, you are the one that took a 100 loss team and made it 20+ games worse.2 points
-
Lmao right? Where did those cards come from, Chris? Have you seen them before today or were they just dealt to you?2 points

I've been mad about the Getz hire and this entire season. His quotes make it much worse. I wonder if JR gets that the quotes make him look like a fool.2 points

I would Keep any high ceiling prospect as far away from the current environment as possible. Of course it will be no better for the foreseeable future but I dont see the benefit of having a couple struggling MiLB players in the clubhouse for a team about to set the all time loss record in front of near zero fans, with a largely incompetent coaching staff, a highly unqualified GM, possibly the worst owner in professional sports.2 points
-
When you set 100 losses as acceptable you are part of a losing culture and part of the problem. f*** him for saying it and moreso for being okay with it.2 points
-
Until JR is gone this organization will be a 💩hole of unqualified people running the team top down.2 points

Kopech had a near perfect July and another year of control. There was no objective urgency to move him. it’s like Getz is getting advice from the people he’s trading with. Ridiculously naïve.2 points

Walkstrini. Please, no more trades with the Dodgers. The Sox get the shaft everytime.1 point

I think it’s pretty simple. JR is completely full of s%*# and anything he says shouldn’t be used against Getz …Because… Getz is clearly bad at this on his own and we don’t need disingenuous quotes from JR to help prove that1 point

This goes back to the idea of are Bannister and Katz really as good as they want us to believe? Nastrini, Iriarte, and Schuster are 3 great examples of guys who just did nothing to improve this year.1 point

I didn't know you could walk more than 1 guy per inning, and actually wear a MLB uniform. But here we are.1 point

Sure...rush a guy who has had injury issues and this year needed an eight game hitting streak to up his average to .217. Rush a kid up into this toxic environment. Right...😆1 point

Either the Sox are stupid, or they hate Ramos so much, they are begging for Vargas to be a 3B.1 point

Best guess is they aren't his decisions. This has looked no different than the Pedro lead team. Since they already made it clear he is not going to be the manager here, seems pretty obvious the call on who to play is coming from the front office. It probably was the same deal when Pedro was here as well.1 point
-
Those are my thoughts also. Maybe they decide to keep Robert, they can then move him to RF, prolong his career by cutting down on all the running in CF.1 point
-
Could he be the next Rowand?1 point
-
Agreed. Ideally he can play CF and replace Robert when he is traded. No thanks on this little weak guy playing RF.1 point
-
I think he's a good 4th outfielder1 point
-
Then the obvious question becomes whether he can come close to sustaining his defensive metrics in CF. For example, because of his arm strength/outfield assists in 2016, Adam Eaton put up a huge fWAR, but he was nothing special in CF. His bat plays more in CF, but likely his defense is only so special on a corner. So they're still left with a conundrum.1 point
-
Corner outfield spots are power positions, unless he can hit 25-30 home runs and drive in 90-100 runs he can't be the everyday right fielder. Maybe after Robert is traded he can move to center.1 point
