  1. Yeah, f*** those god damn grifters at Related Devleopment. I definitely don’t want a brand new park in the perfect location that will draw a fuckton more casual fans and allow us to be more competitive if it requires me to take public transportation with the scum of the world. Ingress/egress all day everyday baby!!

  2. Did they not say the exact same thing in 2016? Here we are, 8 years later with the worst team in our lifetimes staring us in the face and he is gonna invest in the farm this time. THIS TIME, he will do it. This time

  3. Do you have any data at to what percentage of Cub fans reply on mass transportation to get there, and exactly how much dumber Sox fans are that they can't do the same thing/

  4. Unfortunately my benefit of the doubt is too low considering the parade of grifters that find themselves in this org. Great org to get paid to do nothing. Too many Marco Paddy's brought into bring legitimacy when they really just want to retire without retiring.

  5. Nothing really new in here. Everyone likes the idea and potential for the site, liked the presentation, just don't want it to be covered by public funds.

  6. Instead of paying 100 million to upgrade the team, they will pay 5 million within the organization. Yay

  7. If the Sox, Bulls, and Hawks are unviewable, it is probably a favor to us honestly

  8. Culture - a new buzzword that no one talked about before. Good players play good baseball. The reality is if they want to improve the vague meaning of culture then they need to start with not having TLR around. The real problem that most of these psychology type solutions is they ignore the obvious. It starts with the fan base. They created a culture of the habitual losing small market franchise. I know longer can call this organization the White Sox but the Reinsdorfs. I'm all for the Reinsdorfs going to Nashville. The only change Sox fans want is ownership. Most athletes are like employees that never criticize their employer. That goes for many former athletes. We will never know the truth and that truth has to come directly from the player. I feel like an A's fan. Sure the team is still here but now it's the Chicago Reinsdorfs. The White Sox are dead.

  9. Also can we just get the "JR lied to us about this being a quick turnaround" thing out of the way now so we don't have to read 30 separate comments about it please and thank you

  11. You'll take Jerry's parking lot revenue from Tray's cold, dead hands.
    2 points
  12. It’s hilarious that the pearl clutching about parking ignores the fact that many fans already have to walk a block or two to get from lots G, F, and L into the park. Heaven forbid that they walk a block or two from an existing lot or garage across the river or nearby in the South Loop. Or that humans can’t adapt to new circumstance and simply won’t be able to function with something new or different about their ballpark experience.

  13. Yea not really sure Robert Vaughn and Sheets will be on the team next season. Robert likely to be traded and Vaughn and sheets are just guys, probably could be moved or DFAed and wouldn’t matter

  14. I thought this last winter, but the idea that Reinsdorf would think "walking around the legislature threatening to leave and demanding the most expensive public stadium in MLB history in order to stay" was anywhere remotely a good strategy remains baffling to me. Not only something no one was ever going to pay, but also the threats to leave followed by this season had to leave everyone extra soured on the whole idea. This is what "Poisoning the well" probably looks like.

  15. I guess I just don't understand the nit-picking that it's available OTA. It's not for everyone, clearly not yourself, and is just an option for some. What's the big issue if it doesn't affect your viewing experience? They still have time before the Bulls/Hawks seasons get underway, so if those begin and they still don't have a deal with Xfinity then it's absolutely fair to flame away on them.

  16. If they were to do this right, they really could fix every mistake they made with New Comiskey. The paying for it part, who knows.

  24. That works well because you have the 3 rivers and then all the bridges, but especially the Clemente Pedestrian Bridge.

  25. Can the my make the bridge across the river something architecturally neat? Because that’s spectacular in Pittsburgh.

  26. With about two weeks left in the 2024 MLB regular season, the Chicago White Sox are on pace to break the record for most losses ever in a 162-game season. For all intents and purposes, they are one of the worst professional baseball teams ever. They are dreadful, and they are hopeless. Full stop. So, what’s the White Sox’s big plan to pull themselves out of the dark, dank cellar they’re currently trapped in? (For the record, they’re not doing anything in free agency.) They’ve hired Brian Mahler, an ex-Navy SEAL … with no baseball experience … to overhaul their organizational ladder. Yeah, that tracks. The White Sox are probably comfortable hiring someone with no major baseball experience because the people already running them make it seem like they’ve never been around baseball, too. It’s a match made in heaven. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2024/09/white-sox-navy-seal-brian-mahler-no-experience-reaction

  27. Jerry's just agreeing to it because he knows he won't likely be around to actually spend any real money on the team. The team will be sold after he passes on but in the meantime he doesn't have to spend hundreds of millions on player payroll. The Bulls and Blackhawk paradise around the UC is his heirs future, not the Sox.

  28. You invest your whole life to reach a professional and financial pinnacle. You don't want some other team messing with the plan that has finally started to work to your advantage . He had no advantage to trusting his future to people who didnt contribute to getting him to his current position. You're in a much better position to contribute to a championship team when you can give it 100% from a physical and financially secure position. He would've been in neither position pitching in the post season in any capacity. You're likely to hurt your team or yourself performing in less than optimal conditions and guttng it out. He knew his limitations. That shows maturity. Now that could've come from his agent but it was still in his best interests.

  29. Hire anybody you want, call it culture or whatever. Word is out among players as long as JR owns this team nothing is ever changing the perception of this organization.

  30. I mean, I understand it, and I think it's logical. He's a professional athlete who needs to protect his livelihood, especially when he's on the cusp of becoming generationally wealthy as a result of a lifetime of work. There's just the one part of me as an athlete that, if presented with the same opportunity, I would jump all over the chance to contribute to a championship. Thus my "bush league" comment, but maybe it's the complete opposite of "bush league" because we're talking about a lot of money.

  33. Take the last three games against the other two AL bottom feeders and his OPS is .643 for September. Let’s not declare things fixed because of a couple decent games against teams 13 and 14 in the league.

  34. You make excellent points understanding Crochet's position but then you ruined it all by saying you think it's bush league. I know the typical response was F*** Crochet but you gave the reason why it was actually very mature decision to do what he did. When you are a young man with a talent in a system that chews up and spits out the young and talented players who get injured, you have to look out for #1. No one else is looking out for you in the system. He could get a major injury and never be heard from again at the age of 26. That would suck if you had a 9 figure arm then you give your heart and soul to a team pitching and pushing your talent beyond physical limitations only to get injured and tossed aside. You let that happen to you and you end up hating how young and stupid you were as you empty another liquor bottle. I love what Crochet did. f*** The Man and Big Brother. Power to the People.

  35. Benintendi has come around also, he’s healthy and we’re seeing what we thought what kind of a player he was but defensively he’s another Ralph Garr, worst arm I’ve ever seen for an outfielder.

  36. The Angels pitcher last night has a 6.05 ERA. The A’s pitchers starters were 4.94 and 4.24. There is the source of your hitting success the last couple games.

  37. They are playing the other two worst teams in the American League. They didn’t figure something out, they are playing bad teams. Things will return to normal when they play San Diego and Detroit.

  38. i’m not sure anyone can answer that question. The key is going to be players like Ramos, Fletcher, Lee, Baldwin, Robert, Vaughn and Sheets can they become better at hitting? if they are struggle again next year, it’s going to be another ugly season. If they all can improve, maybe a 60 to 70 win team.

  39. If JR comes up with a LOT of money it could happen and I would have no objections myself but for him to want a new stadium AGAIN on the public dole simply won't fly in the current environment.

  40. It could also be another cheap way of not addressing the ACTUAL problems in the Sox organization.

  41. Very good article that answers a lot of questions. If Grady has been this much of a player’s coach then hopefully he gets a chance to grow into his role as manager with this team. Hiring someone from the outside for a multiyear rebuilding project would be a hard sell.

  42. While I think it’s way past the point of being able to save face, yeah, these wins are annoying and anticlimactic. <Insert obligatory comment about how the Sox can’t even lose right>
