  1. They should have hired him when he was available when they hired Ventura. They never go after the guy they should.

  2. He's a 40 year old man trying to talk like a 16 or 17 year old. I honestly think he would be great at the hot dog eating contest. I had it on one year. It's beyond disgusting to watch, but the commentary is great. One guy was calling these dopes jamming 50 hot dogs down their gullets , the greatest athletes in the world. That's exactly what he would say.

  3. They have Bobby Witt Jr. We have Andrew Vaughn.

  5. Attaching Benintendi to Crochet would be the single dumbest decision in baseball history and only this shitshow of an org would even consider something so idiotic. If it happens, it should be very clear that Harold is Getz.

  6. I search banana and found a random post from Caulfield so I guess you can blame him or me. I dread the line at the Cuban Comet stand for those games.

  9. He's already had enough health scares.

  10. You actually think there was a chance? Lol

  11. Good for him. I hope he's fully healthy. Helluva manager. Probably a HoF baseball person.

  13. MOntgomery was dealing with an off the field issue for most of the season. He's gonna be fine.

  14. There was no reason to give him an off season program at that time because it would be taught to him at Instructs which are going on right now.

  15. Sold work there.

  17. Jason is based enjoyed imo in small doses. I was no huge fan of him over 162 games but FFS man he's smooth and professional even if corny and learned baseball on the job. Schriffen is like the homeless man's version of Benetti, at best. It's like they thought they could pull another rabbit out of a hat but instead they just made another horrible hire.

  18. Amazing they did that after we pulled all their best FO talent.

  19. That was the one game I attended this year, so I missed it live. It was right at the beginning of June. I was still trying to like him. I know his situation was pretty messed up. But listening to that later lost me. He has no idea the difference between baseball and WWE,and UFC, and Slamball.

  20. I think some guys transcend that type of stuff. Angels can't develop s%*#, yet Mike Trout is one of the greatest to ever do it.

  21. The Sox would have Witt if they tanked better in 2018, but alas, if you ask some people that would have been sacrilige. The White Sox did their part.

  22. Which is exactly what 29 other franchises would do so they could run Ramos at 3rd.

  23. They can’t and won’t. Getz had a chance to improve the Sox and hurt the Twins long-term with a Fedde/Keaschall swap but Getz chose stinky Vargas instead.

  24. I don’t know. I don’t think it’s gonna be that hard. Get three or four really good position players, surrounded by average players and make sure the pitching is sound; that gives you a chance. The thing is the White Sox head zero average players this year. Not one. Oh maybe Benitendi if you really stretch the definition.

  25. True, but neither KC or the Angels of 15 years ago were as toxic and archaic as the Sox are now.
    1 point
  26. Yup. Which makes the Cease and Fedde trades look even more disastrous. Getz only has so many trade assets, and he fucked up two big ones already.

  27. That's the problem we have now. We have a decent amount of pitching talent, but zero offense to surround them with, and a lot of closed doors to getting that talent.

  28. And Bobby Witt would have developed like Vaughn did too...

  29. Does Chris Getz deserve to be fired, yes. Do Sox fans deserve a competent owner, yes. If you tell me Chris Getz should never have been hired as the GM I would agree with you. We are stuck with both of them for now, all I ask is Abe Reinsdorf stays out of the way and lets Getz run the club and make changes as he sees fit. I am not giving Getz a vote of confidence but as a fan it's the only hope I have. In 4-6 years from now when both Jerry and Chris are gone maybe some superstars evolve out of the Scouting changes taking place. In the meantime, as PT Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute." That would be me cheering the Sox winning 5 out of 6 the last week of the season.

  30. Obviously nitpicking here, but you can choose either Cease or Quintana, since they were traded for each other. I’d be curious to see what other non-playoff teams have more ex-players on them than we do.

  31. They're not going to fire him based on 5 playoff games...

  32. From 2018-2020 Aaron Judge played 65% of his team’s games. For many, he had a reputation of never being able to stay healthy. From 2021-2024 he’s played 88% of the team’s games. I’m not comparing their talent, but there’s no way you can tell me that either was particularly predictable. Injuries can go a lot of different ways, even when a player gets hurt a lot in multiple years.

  33. There’s still some Getz defenders left on this very site.

  34. If they elect not to keep AV, fine. But don’t turn around and give his $5-6M to 40 year old Carlos Santana or washed up Josh Bell. Just let Vargas play 1B.

  35. Is the math correct? The Sox currently have 18 former players in the postseason? Carlos Rodon Dylan Cease Jose Quintana Chris Sale Aaron Bummer Jake Cousins Reynaldo Lopez Michael Kopech Frankie Montas Jose Ruiz Tanner Banks Ian Hamilton Tommy Kahnle Tim Hill James McCann Tommy Pham Paul DeJong Tatis Jr. Obviously the hitters are weak but imagine that pitching staff…

  36. Sure. But they also play defense better than Vaughn.

  38. Did those precious prospects perform in this series? 😁 Honestly I’m just reveling in their downfall.

  39. Like @southsider2k5 said, we can spend that $14M on not bundling Benintendi with Crochet to reduce our return

  40. -0.2 fWAR. He is a no hit, no field 1B only. He has no value.

  41. Vaughn stinks and isn’t worth $6M…but there is still a 1 in a million “what if” chance he figures something out. I don’t think you can say the same for any of the alternatives. And I don’t care if Jerry saves $3-4M on the bottom shelf budget. Not like that $ is going to be used productively. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t be sad if Vaughn goes, but the $ part of it is meaningless to me

  42. It's a next level poverty franchise move and any GM that can't convince their owner how asinine it is to attach Benintendi's mid-sized contract to Crochet is not worth their salt.

  43. We seems determined to blame everything on the Latin players for some reason

  44. He has called left field right field and vice versa. Multiple times he has gotten so excited the Sox actually scored a run, he thought they tied or took the lead when they had not. Has screwed up the outs several times, and even called the Padres the Dodgers last week. I don’t hold it against you for liking his broadcast. Everyone has different tastes. I just see a guy trying to sell bullshit. I get, they only gave him bullshit to sell. Still, respect the audience a little bit. I’ve stated, I actually like South side stand up, if used properly. But he used it like a bat flip after a homer to make the score 10-2 with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th.

  45. Just wait until he has where left field and right field are located down, figures out where to look for the score and the outs, and has enough experience to determine who the opponent is. OK John Schriffen. We see you. Let’s go! South side, staaaaaand up!

  46. Love Schriffen. He's got more memorable calls in the worst year ever than Benetti did in 8 years here. The only position the sox were able to upgrade.
    1 point
  47. I will give Schriff credit for showing up and doing his job under extreme duress.

  48. Tough season for Schriffen but as the season went on I think he improved, the guy is no dummy and will figure things out and will wind up being a more than adequate play by play guy.

  49. I am beginning to wonder if the amount of leg injuries, and then playing on them, has actually nuked guys like Robert, TA, and Eloy.

  50. It has been fun to watch the wheel of blame spin these last two seasons, yet never arrive at the right place. Remember when Yas Grandal was the problem?
