Haven’t been able to say this very often, but it’s been a solid 2 days for the Sox.11 points

Katz had figured out Kopech. All it took was for Kopech to finally listen to him. This has been thoroughly discussed.4 points

What else is he supposed to say? They sucked ass and I said yes cuz I was sick of waiting for Bochy to retire? Of course he's going to be complimentary of his new team. I would take answers like that with a grain of salt.3 points

You sure about that? I see a 3 ERA in this year’s playoffs. Are you accidentally looking at Kopech’s career postseason stats instead? 3 horrible postseason innings with the Sox and 9 good postseason innings with the Dodgers. What a surprise! The Sox were robbed blind in that trade no matter which way anyone wants to try to portray it. Getz is bad.3 points

“I see some promise in some of the young players here and I think we can begin to build a winning culture, and eventually a winning team.” It’s really not that hard to not blatantly lie.2 points

In case anyone has missed my post about my Sell the Team, Jerry! book on Amazon, I encourage you to check it out. It is a thorough history of the 44 years of Sox mismanagement by JR. It does have one bright spot. My 36 page recap of the magical 2005 World Series season.2 points

Positive column: https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/10/30/chicago-white-sox-will-venable-manager/ And hey, the actually got the graphic right this time! 😆2 points

If Katz figured out Kopech, why didn't he let your guy Getz know before he gave him away for nothing? For all the things you somehow think the White Sox do right, 61-101 and 41-121 then stare you down.2 points

I tried to watch every White Sox podcast yesterday and there was plenty of positivity on the Venable hire. I'm still pumped on the Sox getting their man and looking forward to the presser today.2 points

Sure, except without Manfred ball rules fucking us. Getting 1,1 immediately injects like 10 projected WAR into our system, at min. That's exactly what we need. It's hard for even 'tard clubs to screw that up.2 points

Sign nobody and tank for #1 would be my plan. If you tender vaughn it's simply as trade bait and to fill a roster spot with a 0-1 WAR type that will be a tank commander.2 points

Good question. We got a stellar manager so why not pull a Royals and acquire 2 GOOD starters, one good reliever (we have a lot of other guys to try around a good reliever), and also a power hitting outfielder and a GOOD hitting second baseman for starters? It might cost Jerry a little money but for gosh sakes spend enough to finish 20 under .500 not 40 under!! Or else get out of the business and sell the club please. So my plan would be 30 mill a year combined for the two starters, 15 mill for the good reliever and 10 mill for the good second baseman. Try to bring up Monte in May to play SS. And bring up Elko for some pop when he's ready. THank u. the new manager and his pitching coach can work with the plethora of young pitching talent to go with the two new veteran starters!1 point

And you ripped Kopech because he supposedly had a 7 ERA this postseason. He actually had a 3 ERA this postseason and was good. You never acknowledged that you were wrong, so why should we still listen to and value your opinions?1 point

Worth noting that media relations is also a skill that a coach will learn if they’re good. Grifol never learned. You want to meet a fanbase halfway, acknowledge challenges but without being too down, and do it off the cuff. Not easy. Too negative and your Jim Mora being asked about the playoffs. Too positive and you’re cloying like the Getz fanboys here. For now feel free to complain, the hope is, unlike Grifol, this is something he gets better at.1 point

The most painful call of the season IMO by Schriffen…. In a way that people who could actually relate to for once.1 point
-
Yeah it never really looked like they didn’t care. They just sucked (and were probably very frustrated at times).1 point
-
Let's not forget ripping on the guys who are likely comprising 2/3rds of his 2025 roster probably isn't the best approach when Grifol already tried that approach and it only served to unify the players against him.1 point
-
Like I said above, respond with some semblance of honesty. Leaves a bad taste in mouth for him to placate last years team as anything remotely close to sound.1 point
-
Turns him around. "No, those are your players" "Oh I'm fucked. I'm never drinking with Tony again."1 point

I'm sad actually. He was one of the signings I was really excited about. We were working that Cuba connection. It's just a reminder of when we were on top of the world and reasonably expecting multiple championship seasons. Good luck to him.1 point
-
That sounds better, but is it any better? That's still a lot of vague generalities that don't really mean anything, and feel just as fluffy to me.1 point
-
He could say something that wasn’t so obviously untrue to any random Sox fan that watched a few games last year. I know it’s all fluff but a quote like this just remind me of Awful Grifol. You don’t have to sugarcoat everything, especially not one of the worst teams in major league history.1 point

He can when he's motivated as he proved in the World Baseball classic playing for Cuba. He also put it together enough with the Sox to convince them to sign him to the contract he never lived up to. I blame Moncada for not being motivated once given the contract. Too many of his AB's looked like he didn't really care as he just watched strike 3 go by again and again. I also blame the Sox manger(s) who couldn't figure out how to light a fire under his ass. Players play for Managers they respect and that never happened with TLR or Pedro. Ricky got him to play and he always flashed the glove, until he became distracted or disinterested. Good riddance, but I'm sure he'll turn into an All-Star if he lands on the right team with a good Manager.1 point

If they had him figured out why did Getz trade a high leverage closer for Vargas? That goes without mentioning the other two players he gave up. Certainly Kopech had more potential as a closer than Vargas does of showing anything resembling what we gave up to get him. Vargas doesn't even have a position.....is he a 3B, OF, SS, or just a utility player? I'd also like you to show me Kopechs last 10 appearances with the Sox, did he hold runners on base like he did in LA giving up zero SB's.1 point

You’re soft. You are easy. And a victim. You are a mark. You’ve got Jerry Reinsdorf dancing with his $800 leather shoes on top of your head, and that’s somehow what you enjoy. Being taken advantage of is not my bag baby. I’ll let you do that.1 point
