It’s funny comparing Kwesi operate in MN compared to poles. He inherited an underperforming roster with star power, has honestly drafted pretty terribly, but nailed coaching and has been amazing in FA. Kwesi interviewed Harbaugh and KOC and chose KOC. Poles chooses to stick with the worst hiring org in sports top 3 and hires flus over Dan Quinn. They were both top finalists for bears GM position and feels like they are inverse of each other. Damn if this doesn’t show how important coaching is to success in nfl tho.2 points

Yeah I’d just keep pointing to the lions regime inherited Ragnow and Decker, then drafted Sewell year 1. That year they had st brown, much of that offensive line, Goff, swift, and tj hockenson. Anthony Lynn was the OC and their offense was terrible. Johnson takes over and their PPG goes from 19.1 under Lynn to 26.6 under Johnson and hasn’t looked back.2 points

I don't expect this team to compete financially with the likes of the dodgers but we can't even get him to spend smartly on scouts, international free agents, and sign reclamation guys. Getz makes trades like we are the dodgers where it doesn't matter how high or low the current value of a player is if we decide to move him he's gone. It's just dumb and sad I have zero hope for this team right now2 points

Honestly if Jerry wanted to move the Sox would love it, because someone would absolutely pay the expansion franchise fee to be Chicago's 2nd team.1 point

The Bears are in a pretty good spot theoretically. They just need to hire the right fucking coach and go all in on the trenches in both the draft and free agency. Do those things and this team is a legit threat in the NFC. Unfortunately, we destined to make a bad coaching hire ref every single time.1 point

The Sox are hopeless the time to trade him was last offseason when he had his best year. He is going to be worth a fraction of his actual value right now. We did the same thing with Cease traded him the offseason coming off a down year for scraps and watched him almost win a cy young. How about we hold onto Robert until he is playing well then move him. We can ask for top prospects all we want I take no solace in that because our track record is to give into the market after shopping a player and the market for a season Robert is coming off of is going to be nowhere near what it should be. Prove me wrong Getz1 point

He has never threatened to move. He said when he dies, his son may have to sell to outsiders because they may be worth more somewhere else. It won’t happen.1 point

It’s all coming out now https://t.co/UweCpOwPcX This postgame message required a different tone, a different vibe, and probably a different voice. Like a lot of Bears players, Johnson had had enough. Sick of finding new ways to give games away, they wanted accountability and answers. “Jaylon went crazy,” one Bears player said. “He was very emotional and pissed but rightfully so. He’s been here longer than most.” Said another player: “He was going off more so at (Eberflus).” Players accepted that, but what didn’t sit well with some team leaders was Eberflus avoiding accountability for his own coaching errors. Players pointed to the play before the Hail Mary. Eberflus allowed Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels to complete a 13-yard pass on the penultimate play and then didn’t call a timeout before the Hail Mary to discuss his defense and calm emotions. When he was asked about it by reporters, Eberflus downplayed the importance of Daniels’ 13-yard completion to receiver Terry McLaurin and even double-downed on his decision, which many believe was among the mistakes. “That didn’t sit well in the locker room,” a player said. “It didn’t go over right,” the second player said. “That week is when he lost the defensive guys.”1 point

I remember the last time we supposedly had leverage to acquire a pitcher that even the owner wanted gone. His name was Big Game James Shields.1 point

From Brad Briggs column tonight at the Tribune: Only six teams have fewer wins since the start of the 2011 season, when George McCaskey became chairman. Even in their meandering quest to find a franchise quarterback, the Bears have mostly avoided direct comparisons to some of the perennial losers in that bunch, such as the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars. Then, in the final 32 seconds of Thursday’s nationally televised game in Detroit, they became the butt of jokes around the league and were pilloried by the most even-handed analysts. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/11/29/chicago-bears-thomas-brown-matt-eberflus/1 point

As I have explained in stories the capital gains tax hit on a sale of the club while JR is alive could be in the range of 200 million dollars and that is not counting the Illinois state tax hit. JR started his professional career working for the IRS. Those numbers have real meaning to him which is why on the rare occasions he has spoken publicly about it, his message has been the same, he's told his family to keep the Bulls and sell the Sox when he is gone.1 point

Yes, it is. But it just goes to show that what we as Sox fans think is a horrible bloated contract is absolute jack sh1t to a real contending team like the Dodgers. A bad deal to the Dodgers means nothing. Jerry is a bum and needs to go the way of the dinosaurs.1 point

The most offensive thing about this post is being so out of touch with anything going on with the Bears, but using the term “our”1 point

Prepping the team for sale makes sense but it won't happen by JR, his family will sell it when he is gone.1 point

I mean, let's give Getz credit: He did acquire a NLCS* MVP SS worth the largest contract in team history for Fedde and Pham. *Typed World Series, not NLCS1 point

Of course we trade Edman and Kopech to the Dodgers for straight trash and they end up being major pieces to a World Series team.1 point

I love the idea of the 2024 team popping champagne when the 2025 team finishes with a worse record.1 point

Assuming Venable is better than Pedro, which isn't a stretch, you're probably right. But if anyone could put a worse team on the field than 2024, its Chris Getz.1 point

I would be really impressed if the Sox could manage to be the worst team in the history of baseball in back to back years.1 point

I don't know if I've ever been happier with a college football game, even Mizzou's bowl win last year. Mods know, but my dad passed away in July (I think the ill wishes against JR got sent to the wrong Jerry). He was an NIU alum, so I pulled for NIU growing up. He also loathed Notre Dame. He would have been so unbelievably happy. My aunt (also alum) and I were hollering on the phone together. My mom said it made her cry.1 point
