That's too bad. Duber was actually one of the more objective media people in the industry. He us a good reporter keeping to the information.7 points

Took my dumb brain a second to process that the Sox did not in fact trade Chuck Garfien to the angels.4 points

Yes he is. Would it be JR's fault if you started a blog or a podcast that didn't work out? And then their awful owner laid off people a week before Christmas and then had the balls to go on Twitter and say "they are paid through January so no one will need to worry about money through the holidays" in the most tone deaf messaging possible.3 points

While true, Jerry isn’t free from blame here. Interest levels are super fucking low because of the incompetence he has allowed to fester for years.3 points

Counterpoint to the Acuna hype: Lenyn Sosa is hitting .392 ..451 .765 with 9 HR in the same league. Maybe the pitching is not great.2 points

How about Taxpayer Field at Comiskey Park for the new one? I'm warming up to y'all in Illinois buying my favorite team a new stadium. Hell, increase the hotel tax to pay for it. Joking.2 points

Yeah, the issue here isn't at the pro-level. Growing into velocity isn't terrible for your arm, it's the max effort from pony ball through pro ball that is destroying arms. Younger kids should learn to pitch first and worry about velo second. Max effort causing injuries shouldn't be surprising to anyone, but the damage is being done much sooner than at the MLB level.2 points

The Sox trading Cash doesn't tend to work out, especially for Angels catchers that never played for team trading them to the White Sox2 points

Thaiss had a 100 wRC+ vs RHP last year and he’s really familiar with the coaching staff. It’s fine. Quero and Teel both need more time in AAA2 points

I'm not fighting... but I think it's silly to not assume all teams (many players) used it... Similar to steroids during the roids era.1 point

If a team who’s designed to lose 100+ games and is focus on securing the top pick in the draft can have a good offseason, the Sox are having a good offseason.1 point

Honestly, a lot of Sportings News articles feel like they are AI generated.1 point

I keep thinking a lot of these articles are written, not by AI, but by a foreign language AI. I sometimes run my own writing through ChatGPI. I'll get into arguments, late night, after a bottle of wine, with it. Asking for rhyming words for a particular word, I finally got ChatGPI to admit it doesn't really understand the concept of rhyming.1 point

This just in...White Sox on precipice of bankruptcy after Thaiss addition, offset by the $740,000 they save from their international bonus pool allotment. Yoan Moncada already enjoying his $29 million for 2024, at least. 11 hits and 11 strikeouts on the year, or $2.64 million per hit/K. Amazing production. Hopefully he invests his money wisely...and not in the reggaeton music/production industry.1 point

I wondered why we would make a move to bring aboard a guy who is going to strike out a lot, even as a back-up C. Then I thought about how he seems to fit the low cost but low reward guys we brought in last year. I would rather bring in a catcher at $1 million a year than a low reward, high cost move like Maldanado at $4.25 million. I guess the positive, Thaiss gets on base over 100 points more than his BA. If he’s a guy who can help develop our young pitches, great. If not, he’s easy to jettison.1 point

Thaiss has no options remaining, so he makes the team out of spring training, or he takes a walk through waivers.1 point

Yeah, when somebody calls me a dunce and other names for making note that the Sox are being mentioned as a team "in" on Sasaki, it's not "crying" to push back. When somebody regularly mocks a single comment made back in spring training to end every convo, it's not "crying" to find a comment of his and push back with it. If you don't like commenters pushing back on rude behavior, I'm not sure why you're a mod and subject yourself to all this "crying" on a daily basis.1 point

What a silly trade for a massive market team. You get junk, just to shed a contract (that's not terrible), even though youre 'going for it' this year.1 point

Daniels and Nix are in systems that are being built around what they can do and a scheme that helps them. Williams is surrounded by a bunch of Bozos. The organization does not value coaching at all and may value it less then the White Sox. The entire organizational mission is to be a mom and pop thing where everyone loves Virginia and hates the Packers. The fact the Packers thoroughly emasculated them for the past 30 years and Virginia, Michael and now and ticket manager turned CEO have zero clue on how to address this issue. The team accountant was in charge for many years....yes that's who you want running the franchise. Sadly death (Bears, Bulls and Sox won't be sold) is the only way Chicago organizations change.1 point

He passed on Harbaugh. What has he accomplished in his role other then to build out non-football roles? The product on the field is worse then ever and they are destroying the one thing they have never had until this year. Yes Williams does not look that good but for God's sake he is on his third OC of the season and the OL is an absolute joke. That third round OL pick is an embarrassment. They are in no position to draft projects. Poles thought this roster was talented enough to cover for the 3rd round project and then to use 4th round pick on a punter. He got them from point A to B thanks to Lovie Smith. Without that pick we are worse off than we are now which is saying something. Now we will gamble on an inexperienced coordinator to change the organization with zero support from the clown shoes at Halas Hall. Good luck with that.1 point
