I recently talked to someone close to the situation and this person is very confident the White Sox will have a new downtown stadium. Take that for what's it's worth.4 points

Getz trading with LAD. What could possibly go wrong...4 points

I don’t think Booser being 32 is very relevant. It’s all about value created. He’s a lefty with good stuff, 5 years of control and 3 options. They’re hoping to optimize him under their pitching development system and flip him again at some point. I like Fajardo but I’ll trust them on pitching decisions in general going forward.3 points

Fajardo. Trading them for 30something relievers is Rick Hahnesque3 points

Fajardo just missed Baseball America’s top 30 list for the White Sox. It’s going to be fascinating to hear Getz try to rationalize this one. Anytime a rebuilding club trades an 18 year old arm with good stuff who they just signed and who performed well will raise a lot of questions. Again, you have to be confident there’s something extra you can unlock in Booser and can spin him for much more at the deadline if you make this trade. Otherwise, it really does feel like you’re selling low on Fajardo as even the same level of success in complex ball would enhance his trade value. That being said, I do want a GM who will attempt to create value by thinking outside the box and Booser certainly fits that billing. Just nervous here given Getz’s atrocious trade record when he’s more or less buying a piece. The entire Bailey Horn sequence of moves remains bizarre to me as there was plenty of 40 man garbage to get rid of before selling Horn off for cash. It’s very clear they missed on their evaluation of him, which is strange since they should have known him well, but also a sign that Bannister isn’t going to be flawless. Unlike with the Fletcher trade, which I hated right from the get go, I will wait and see how everything shakes out with Booser before making too harsh of judgements. That being said, my early gut tells me never to trade legitimate prospects for relievers when rebuilding and instead target rebound candidates via the waiver wire and free agency.3 points

Clevinger has been one of the most unliked players in baseball (by his peers) for nearly as long as he's been in the league. The only guy he got along with was Bauer - another guy no one liked. Edit: and it had nothing to do with politics. Majority of big leaguers are conservative.3 points

Clickbait title but its true. I know the board is skeptical of all things White Sox but just cannot help themselves either hating everything or looking ahead since things have perked up this offseason. SInce Getz made so many new hires recently , if you've been paying any attention at all, you've seen them in multiple podcasts all over Youtube . They all express optimism about creating a winner. I can hear the laughter now . John Ely is not a recent hire. He was the pitching coach at AA Birmingham Barons and he gives you his perspective on many of the pitchers he coached this past season. He particularly says very good things about Noah Schultz. I hope you all enjoy and have a wonderful holiday season !2 points

Obviously, they should take the approach of pursuing both pitching and position players in the draft and internationally. There's no reason right now to target pitching prospects in trade.2 points

Many of these guys will flame out, but they also need opportunities before doing so. The issue isn’t that we can’t acquire better SP prospects, it’s that acquiring a 45 FV and pushing someone like Batista to a minor league bullpen doesn’t move the needle much.2 points

When did MLB revoke the Titles of the Rangers, Astros, Braves, Nationals, Red Sox, Astros, Cubs, Royals, and Giants? Ok maybe one of those should have been, but “no one can beat the Yankees or Dodgers” is a pretty F’d up concept when they’ve won 3 titles in the last 20 years. 17 times other teams have won titles!! Hell the highest payroll team isn’t even on the list of teams you’ve declared unbeatable.2 points

Some might have some wouldn't.Etiquette means not trying to make your guest look silly especially when he was there to talk about the guys he coached not try to answer a crazy question out of left field about the 2027 rotation. I wouldn't have asked that question. There was plenty to talk about with the guys he coached. I would have liked to hear about Peyton Pallette too .2 points

I just can’t watch teams lay down against Washington. Dumb decision after dumb decision. Lucky play after lucky play. 5 turnovers and they still win. Wide open pass by Philly that should have finished the game….dropped. Obvious false start by Washington on the last drive ignored. And one-read Daniels doesn’t impress me the way people have propped him up. I give Kingsbury all the credit though, scheming for his QB - a ton of lob passes to wide open receivers.2 points

I like the Wilson signing. Seems like he should’ve gotten paid $3 million from someone. Lipcius has some good minor league numbers. Not a fan of trading anything of value for a guy like Booser, but if he is eventually flipped for a better prospect, so be it. Initially, I thought the Sox would spend a little money and that a Quintana signing would be probably. But it doesn’t seem that way now. The highlight of the offseason will probably be a Ben Rice trade but hopefully they don’t pay too much for him.2 points

Might sound sacrilegious with this take but I hope Detroit wins it all, way better than either Green Bay or Minnesota.2 points

It’s pretty crazy. Getz is slashing payroll to Athletics numbers from last year.2 points

He is right, though. What would getting MORE starting pitching right now accomplish? You can't add another team for them to pitch on.2 points

Good list. I think you are too aggressive on Wikelman Gonzalez (I think they have said he is going to be in AA). Also, a little aggressive on Batista. I bet he spends the first half in that jam-packed W-S rotation. I bet they sign some AAAA guy for rotation depth in Charlotte. But this is a very good list. Kanny’s rotation is a real head scratcher. I think Reyes could see time there as well as Oppor, LaCombe, etc., plus I will be interested to see whether Yohemy Nolasco is back.2 points

Wilson can still be traded. I'm sure they're hoping for a bounce back healthier year for him.2 points

Doesn't seem like it to me. If you are going to pin everything even the poor offense down to the ownership so be it. That group is the only one left.2 points

I have no rational for this - but I see the Bears breaking their losing streak today. 4 TD game for Caleb!2 points

Oppor seemed to have a hard time of it in the Complex League. Jake Peppers could probably return to the Kannapolis rotation to cut his walk rate. But yeah, there's so many interesting arms in the system. Bockenstedt might just be depth who tops out in AA, but I didn't hear anything about Tommy Vail having a long term issue. Vail probably starts out at winston-salem.2 points

I hate this trade, but here’s the logic: Boston faces a roster crunch. They’re gonna have to DFA this guy, so they ask around for trade proposals. They Sox like the guy enough that Boston knows he ain’t getting past waivers, so they take less than he’s worth so they don’t let him go for nothing. They reports are good on Fajardo, but DSL pitcher is not a huge price, so the Sox were willing to pay it. Maybe Boston bluffed them and they had no other offers, but whatever.2 points

New titles isn't really impressive to me when the same people who caused the problems are still here. Even if someone now has that title, it wasn't like Don Cooper wasn't leading the organization in pitching before Katz got here. Honestly I wish I could blindly believe again. It was much nicer.2 points

You definitely don’t take things personally, no sir.2 points

I agree with everything but that last line. Not sure age matters all that much when it comes to Booser’s future trade value. If he can become a legit, high leverage LH setup man he will have plenty of value at the deadline and should return plenty. Maybe you won’t get full value on the remaining control, but you’d certainly get more than a Farjardo caliber prospect. The big question is can the Sox get more out of Booser and my biggest issue right now is the price to get that opportunity is far from a nothing.2 points
-
Since I always hate on moves on this board, I'll say I like this signing as well. Bryse isn't a star by any means, but he's shown an ability to keep guys off balance and get more from his stuff than it plays. He might be a 4.5 ERA guy, but he's a nice swing arm who can go long relief and start about 10-12 games a year in a pinch. For this price, this is a nice viable bullpen piece who will for sure get lit up sometimes, but should be able to eat enough innings in spots designed for him to do so to be worth his roster spot.2 points

I want Zyhir Hope. It’s who I was hoping we’d get for Crochet, but maybe we can talk them into it for Robert. A guy can dream.2 points

Ok I'll trust you on this but what's your point ? So someone made a mistake on a guy 2 levels below him who he doesn't know a lot about. He admitted he didn't know much about Hagen Smith too. He's not Bannister or Getz he was the AA pitching coach. He only mentioned Taylor in passing as a guy he knew of who had a lot of potential. He's not as familiar with him. His greater point was it was very difficult to try to name the starting 5 on the 2027 White Sox when he's not familiar with all the pitchers. Maybe he just watched Logan or Logan Lucky.1 point

Brandon Marsh in CF. He was worth 3 WAR last year. I think Robert to the Phillies is dead.1 point

Good trade for the Phillies. I am suspicious of glove-first shortstops that far from the majors. A lot of utility player risk.1 point

The Sox should be looking to create guys like Booser and trade them away for youth, just like the Red Sox did. Not acquiring guys like Booser. The Sox are going to be terrible next season. They have plenty of opportunity to pitch guys from their own system that could be the next Booser. Like @Balta1701 said, isn’t it funny that the Red Sox, a team that is actually going to compete in 2025 unlike our Sox, would rather have the 18-year old Fajardo in their minors than Booser on their MLB roster?1 point

I just heard that Roki is on a plane to Toronto where he will be eating dinner with Yu Darvish's wife, or buying her a Porsche or something.1 point
-
And the Boston Red Sox, who clearly intend to compete this year, and who had Booser, looked at an 18 year old years away from the big leagues and said “yeah we’d rather have that.”1 point
-
I’ll be honest, I don’t know enough about Booser or Fajardo to have a strong opinion here. If Bannister likes this dude, then I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. That being said, this better not be another Bailey Horn situation where we end up dumping a guy for nothing a couple months into the season. You need to hit if you’re going to gamble on a 32 year old reliever.1 point
-
Plus you can't overlook what he did when he came up. The BP sucked like really sucked. If you think having a worse record than 2024 is possible maybe improve the bullpen ,get a hold of some decent arms and have some competition for some spots with guys who can throw strikes.1 point
-
If anything, my guess is they believe they can get a prospect closer to the majors than a 17 year old, that is the logic. They must see something in him, think they can get more out of him than others. That obviously remains to be seen and the Sox, at this point, should not be trusted or given the benefit of the doubt in really any situation…but there is logic to the deal. This guy has 15-20 solid innings, gets flipped for a AA player in July.1 point
-
The Sox absolutely think they’ll get more than Fajardo for Booser. He’s 32 but he’s not even arb eligible and has 5 years of control and three options. I get it.1 point

I just listened last night. Thanks for posting it. Love how he talks up Coffey and Schoenle. The insider dish on why the Burger trade happened was fun, too.1 point
