Pitchers get hurt. Not getting a legit position player back in the Cease deal was a failure. That being said, those guys are not really moved anymore.4 points

Did you drop your homemade bobblehead ? Maybe it was a VooDoo doll instead and you caused the broken thumb !3 points

Bernstein deserved to be fired no doubt, but the guy he was fighting with on Twitter is also a little b****. He reached out to the FBI over a little fake tough guy talk? Lol…I fucking hate social media so much.3 points

It hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year...2 points

Lot of rough outings throughout the league yesterday. Must be dead arm period for some of these guys?2 points

The loss of Drury is probably bigger. He was the Sox best hitter in Spring. Now my homemade bobblehead seems foolish.2 points

Not necessarily 'excited' but interested to see if Vargas can improve from his poor showing at the end of last season. Not expecting amazing things but his showing at the end of last season was too bad to be true.2 points

Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith starting. Looks like both games have a webcast on whitesox.com1 point

Another year wasted…….nobody is Suprised. TJ and the Sox continues at a ridiculous rate last few years.1 point

Maybe they need to replace Schiffren with Dan Bernstein...1 point

They did not go into 2023 thinking they were going to rebuild. Hahn thought the manager was going to fix their .500 record the year before. They signed Benintendi.1 point
-
Correct. Hahn had his chance, had a short lived successful run. It ultimately failed and he was rightly fired. Same thing applies to Getz. Everyone gets a chance. If it doesn't work they get fired. It's the way of sports.1 point
-
From the reports on how Hahn and Williams ran it, they may not have included him. Shirley was the director of amateur scouting and had a say on who they traded for. Regardless, it wasn't his plan nor his execution. I know you don't like him or the organization as a whole and think he should have won the world series last year. I for one, will watch what he does and give him a chance to execute his plan.1 point
-
By that logic, if those trades are bad you blame Getz for them? Mike Shirley as he was in the organization too? He probably had as much input as Getz. I look at the person who is responsible for the plan and whether he executes it or not. He gets 4-5 years to make a team his way. If it doesn't work, he gets the walking papers.1 point
-
I would define it differently. I would define it when the new guy took over and started making the decisions. Regardless of what Hahn did it wasn't Getz’s plan.1 point

Might as well throw Taylor out there... It's so bad that you start to miss the theoretical/hypoethetical Brandon Drury offense.1 point

Meh. The injury matters. The rest is whatever. Smith and Schultz will be fine.1 point

I hope Thorpe comes back throwing with much more velocity than he did before.1 point

Thus us a very generous way to put it. He tried to make them feel uncomfortable and then make them believe they could know more because of his gift of knowledge to them so they could know more than the people who run the teams or played. There is no doubt he was a good hire and made them money as controversy sells. Just too bad he finally started to believe his shtick too much1 point
-
At least everyone will have company on the training room. No one will feel lonely or not part of a team while away at rehab. 😀1 point

Yeah High A placement is way too aggressive for someone with his K/contact issues. Let him build his confidence up one step at a time.1 point
-
He was clearly an intellectual and that made the blue collar fans uncomfortable. He wasn't a super nice dude but he was clearly super smart. I hope he gets the help he needs. And it's the same story over and over again, if you have enough energy to complain about him, the score did right by hiring him. He's had a pretty successful career since being chosen as Mike Greenberg's replacement. Last thing I'll say on the subject: most of the legendary broadcasters with any balls gets fired.1 point

He appealed to the non-athlete who thought they knew more about sports than the people involved as that's the way he was. He refused to have the athletes on as they didn't know enough about their sport particularly baseball. He was one of the first to really push analytics because the smart people knew more about baseball than the scouts and people who played. He made the average listener feel more important.1 point

100% agree. Wolkow only has half a season in Low A, he should start the year in Kanny and work on his pitch recognition & swing decisions. If he does well, promote him around middle of the season whenever Braden likely get the bump to AA. Ending the season as a 19 year old in High A would be a hell of an accomplishment for him.1 point
-
Not willing to write of Zavala yet. This year is a big one. Looks like he made a lot of swing changes.1 point
-
On one hand that is definitely kind of a b**** move to say, but on the other hand Bernstein who is a pretty big media personality literally threatened his kids. It’s all weird but I don’t fault him for saying “I don’t f*** around with this bullshit”1 point

Robert. It’s gonna be a while before we see a player with that kind of talent in the lineup again, so I’ll enjoy it while he’s still around, warts and all.1 point

Yes, because 2-2 in a spring training game is equal to losing a player for 12-18 months of injury plus control time, while not including the extra year it takes for many pitchers to get back into form. And yes people are expecting the worst case scenario for Thorpe.1 point

Drew is going to end up being a bust as the center piece of Cease trade.1 point
-
Pretty sure it was Zavala’s 467 plate appearances in A+ ball last season where he hit: .187 / .340 / .301 / .6411 point

Hard to believe someone so universally hated lasted as long as he did. What a pile of s%*#.1 point

Hey, with Zavala's 2 for 2 performance today against the Reds, can I now prematurely declare that the Sox have clearly won the Cease trade? Because let's be honest, making that statement after two spring training at bats is every bit as valid as all the people pronouncing that the Sox lost the Cease trade.1 point

I think it's a little different with people just arguing as a opposed to someone getting paid a hefty sum for it. Get me hammered in a bar and I may just argue that the bears should sign Rogers as a backup.1 point
-
I can't believe he basically got fired because someone said he didn't release a fish he caught. Just the dumbest downfall in Chicago sports radio.1 point
-
Wow, about time with all of his rants. He was great when he first started but the ego and arrogance got the best of him. The bad side is that he was also removed from the board of the kids camp. He really did do a lot for them.1 point

I agree. I think far too many people are impatient and want to bring up prospects before they are ready. Ready isnt just numbers. It takes into account more things like being emotionally and mentally ready for the failure in the MLB. They will fail more in the MLB then succeed. Even the best players are out more then they succeed at the plate. These are aspects that fans can't know. Even the teams don't know for sure but the coaches who interact with them everyday have a better sense if this. The Sox aren't trying to win right now. The only thing that matters is the development of their current players throughout the system. In theory they see what they have this year and start filling in next year. The complicating factor us the impending strike. Are teams going to sign deals next year if they know a significant lock out/strike is coming?1 point
-
When did I defend those moves? Pretty sure I ridiculed Getz for saying defense would be a priority and then played Sheets in the OF like his predecessor did. Regardless, this is a silly argument. Lopez has proven to be an above replacement level player because of his defense. I don’t think he’s good enough to be a starter on a good team, but he is a major leaguer in some capacity. Sheets put up a 131 wRC+ in half a season at Charlotte before being called up. Colas has never been over 100 wRC+ and regressed further last year. The big thing you keep missing is that signing cheap vets is a way to buy your prospects more time. The reason that we signed DeJong last year was to have a placeholder until Colson was ready (turned out he wasn’t). Let guys complete their development in the minors first before them into a major league role. I get the clock is ticking on Colas & Fletcher, but if they can’t fix their s%*# in AAA it’s unlikely they fix their s%*# in the majors.1 point
