Weird coming from his biggest fan. Having your account named after him.3 points

What a pity. In the 2019, Andrew Vaughn was selected with the 3rd overall pick and for a player taken that high, he has never materialized as worthy of that selection. With a horrific start to the season batting .102, what is the likely future for this guy? To have almost zero production out him is a waste of a roster spot when I am certain we could get more production from almost anyone else. It's crazy to think that many felt he was so good, he made Abreu expendable. This guy is not getting any better and it is another catastrophic failure of the previous regime. I realize I do not post here often so obviously take my complaint with a grain of salt. I just did not see a thread on this and I felt compelled to start one.2 points

His best/only full season was a year he had a .315 OBP. He is/was always an extremely flawed free swinging hitter. The league adjusted and it’s painfully obvious he’s not capable of counter adjusting and will continue to flail at pitches out of the zone. And cool, he’s athletic and a good fielder…when he’s not missing 50+ games a year with nagging injuries. Luis Robert Jr is on his way to a Kevin Pillar type career. The sooner you accept that the less it will hurt.2 points

It's why I always am a bit confused when people ask to name players the PD director should have been more successful with....2 points

To me, De Paula alone would be a haul considering how low Robert has devalued himself with poor performance and injuries. Outman would just be a throw-in but I’d rather see him in the OF over Palacios, Taylor, and Jones.2 points

There was one place for the hitter to truly shorten up and that was with Palacios up with men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Just had a stolen base of 2nd to stay out of the DP. Contact likely ties the game. He K'd instead. Any chance the WSox had of winning vanished unless the guy behind him got a hit and Vargas did not after battling for 10 pitches.2 points

I’d love one of those Steve Stone bobble heads to use for target practice.2 points

He's single handedly convinced me that you never ever, ever draft a 1B in the 1st round of the draft.2 points

Elko will get a chance this season. Sox aren't just going to cut bait on AV 2 weeks into the season. He was playable 2nd half next season. But the writing is on the wall and this will be his last season; there is basically no chance he's getting tendered next season at this point. The play is hope he hits enough the next couple months to move him for a warm body.2 points

So the rumor is that there is no trade talk. Outman's a AAAA player at this point. So it boils down to "front-line prospect." Nah, just stay away from the Dodgers.2 points

Some people have a hard time thinking rationally when there are struggles and negative outcomes. There could be ten different things that play a part in why a player doesn’t develop, and there could be a different mix of reasons for a different player. But it’s easier to just blame the director, even if the player just isn’t very good to begin with, or if the player lacks the drive or work ethic, or if the player doesn’t like to be coached. It reminds me of how people like to blame the hitting coach when an offense is struggling.2 points

I'm curious to know which of the outfielders who were drafted or signed internationally in recent years should have been better if Getz were better as the director of player development.2 points

Moving past random Steve Bannon references, Chase Meidroth is currently on a ~16 fWAR pace. What happens if he ends up winning rookie of the year? I know that since he isn’t a top 100 prospect anywhere, we won’t be eligible for draft pick compensation if he wins. However, would we lose a year of service time if this were to happen?2 points

You remain undefeated. I don’t know how you do it. You could plop me into any random thread and give me 24 hours to come up an obscure reference, and I couldn’t come close to the randomness you come up with on a regular basis.2 points

it was the tv guys, they said something like "they find unique ways to lose" which might be true, but at the same time, go f*** yourselves bosox commentators, you guys are not doing so hot yourselves. this was an early season moral victory. i particularly dislike the red sox for illogical reasons (ugly color socks, wear a white or a black sock like a normal person). I think their commentators are quite good and fun to listen to, but they must be eating some crow now...ya know, for now anyway. I think it would be very humorous if the Red Sox had a losing record....2 points

Meidroth seems like the type of the player the previous regime was seemingly allergic to. He can play multiple positions, he sees a ton of pitches, and he gets on base at a high clip. He’s the type of player the Sox have been missing for a long time. Hahn/KW wouldn’t even sign bench/UTL guys like that in FA. Edit: Spelling2 points

Glad you admitted to lying about both statements. What the end of the Hahn regime and whatever you want to call this Getz thing have taught me is there's always someone out there that'll support the unsupportable.1 point

It is comical this trend of finally getting a name on Sox fans radars the minute they become irrelevant.1 point

As bad as Robert has been, Outman is living up to his name in AAA and doing worse. He is nothing at this point.1 point
-
Outman does have a higher ceiling than what's normally available on the waiver wire. This is his last option year. If he doesn't pull it together at AAA, he's gone end of year, anyway. He's certainly not a headliner.1 point

The White Sox organization was loaded with young talent at that time (from 1990-2005 into 2010). KW was constantly making deals and his moves finally clicked for that one year. That talent base should have won a lot more divisions, if not titles, than it did. Getz has just got to get young talent into this organization...especially position players. It's tough when we've shown no ability at all to evaluate/draft amateur position players. I don't think we're as far away from being able to put together a competitive team as most probably do....but we're a long way away from having a real pipeline to sustain winning.1 point
-
Great point about the climb, we sat in row 29 the night the Sox clinched the division against Seattle in 1993, we never left our seats until the game was over.1 point
-
Yeah, Getz made some real steals with Rojas, Tauchman, Slater, and Taylor. Old guys that can’t stay healthy. That was $10+ million down the drain. You seriously think those were good signings by Getz? The only thing worse than those signings was him trading young players for mediocre old relievers with no history of success.1 point

The 2016 rebuild didn’t fail because the Sox didn’t sign Machado or Harper. It failed because they drafted so poorly. Spending a top 5 pick on a weak singles hitter is so so so so dumb. Meidroth is a breath of fresh air, and it fits a theme. The new regime has been targeting hitters who’ve shown the ability to get on base consistently. Would like to see Meidroth, Vargas and Tauchman in the same lineup1 point

You have no point to be missed. Yeah they should. Age is the new market inefficiency. They should be filling gaps with cheap 32 year olds. They're not blocking anybody.1 point

Good. People need to not get so bent out of shape over every guy that leaves here and calls the organization out. That's a direct reflection of Jerry Reindsdorf and how he chooses to operate his team. The Sox are behind other teams. It's pretty obvious when you watch a Sox game and compare that on-field product it to around the league.1 point
-
I’m sure they wanted the extra year of control, which was the right move anyways.1 point
-
This is wild after you spend all day, everyday, screaming that the Sox/Getz can't possibly be responsible for all of the bad things happening. Great job disqualifying your own opinion. Again.1 point
-
Are you a Reinsdorf? Because if not, I have no idea how you’d want the boob that is Michael running the team. He’s a death sentence on the Bulls for the foreseeable future…let’s the hope the Reinsdorf-owned White Sox dynasty at least dies with Jerry. I will also never understand your hatred for Ishbia because of his Private Equity background. What merit does that have on him owning the Sox? The reality is he is both rich as f*** and smart as f*** all while living in the Chicagoland area and therefore won’t move the team. He will almost certainly build a new stadium at the 78 site, so maybe deep down that’s why you hate him so much.1 point
