It will be interesting to see what some red state Dems do now it looks like he will be confirmed. Heidi has fallen 10 points behind Cramer. Manchin lead is shrinking. via the Daily Beast: Substitute Sen. Joe Manchin’s name and an almost identical ad is blanketing the airwaves in West Virginia. Pre-Kavanaugh, Manchin was running comfortably ahead by double digits by wielding like a club his protection of coal miners and others who depend on coverage of pre-existing conditions against opponent Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who’s suing the federal government to end such coverage. In what could be a life-or-death vote for those afflicted by opioid addiction or black lung disease, Manchin has lost four points this month as Republicans increasingly side with the person who would take their health care away. You’d think Kavanaugh, who enjoys a 56-26 approval in the state, were on the ballot. -

Diane Fienstein decided for months to withhold a vital piece of information from not only the public but also her fellow senators so maybe this is the new normal. I for one hope the report is released eventhough it was limed in scope due to time constraints we should be aware of the FBI findings. The only reason I can think of not doing so is to protect the privacy of those witnesses who cooperated with the FBI but even if the full report can't be released surely the summary of their findings can. Grassley statement on the report: “I’ve now received a committee staff briefing on the FBI’s supplement to Judge Kavanaugh’s background investigation file. There’s nothing in it that we didn’t already know. These uncorroborated accusations have been unequivocally and repeatedly rejected by Judge Kavanaugh, and neither the Judiciary Committee nor the FBI could locate any third parties who can attest to any of the allegations. There’s also no contemporaneous evidence. This investigation found no hint of misconduct and the same is true of the six prior FBI background investigations conducted during Judge Kavanaugh’s 25 years of public service.” -

Well they are so I won't quit saying it. Noone believes if the investigation runs past the election that the democrats will vote for him even if he is cleared of the charges let alone if the investigation into the allegation is inconclusive. It's a stalling tactic everyone sees it and it's why democrats are starting to worry about some of their more vulnerable seats. https://www.thedailybeast.com/if-you-dare-accuse-a-good-man-republicans-will-put-you-on-trial?ref=home -

Which is why like I said until we hear from the person she allegedly coached and the supposed other witness we shouldn't hold up the information as true. I am not surprised she denied it however for obvious reasons she'd be admitting to a felony otherwise. Of course there are time constraints now (aka an election). Had the democrats turned over the letter to the committee months ago then the FBI would have had the time to run a through full investigation PRIOR to both Ford and Kavanuagh appearing before the committee and members would have had a better idea of the facts and the veracity of the charges. I guess you have to ask yourself why that didn't happen? I mean I have my answer what is yours? -

How about we investigate the actual assault allegation? That is why she was brought there to give testimony and why Kavanaugh went back to congress If any of Kavanaugh blanket denials are lies visa via Ford he is toast and rightfully so. -

My mother in law still thinks the Russians installed Trump and screwed with the votes. Democrats for years now have pursuing their own deluded fantasy that somehow Trump is a stooge for Putin and he colluded to steal the election despite there being no evidence of that being the case. So sorry but I had to lol on that one -

I never said that! I raised it as a possible reason for her proven lying. She has received to date well over 700K from gofundme including whatever her "beach buddies" chipped in. So it's certainly a possibility monetary reasons could be involved it would have likely been part of a FULL FBI investigation and I'm surprised the prosecutor never asked the question directly. Does she and her husband currently have a large amount of debt? Has she received any other tangible benefits other then what she mentioned in her answer? How much total did her beach buddies chip in? Also lets not pretend this doesn't happen either Lisa Bloom and democrat donors plaid hundreds of thousands to Trumps accusers. Including paying off mortages, cars loans, etc. And she has proven to have lied about things I've posted the evidence numerous and it should be clear as day that she lied about the door and her claustrophobia. Lets just summarize: 2nd house has no separate exit She lied about being afraid of flying Home she mentions as not needing a 2nd door as an exit actually was an extension built on the house What is even more important is what she didn't say: The therapist she allegedly told of the alleged assault is the former owner of the house who records show ran her business from that location at the same time the Fords lived there. She never mentioned any of that in her testimony. She also stated that the lack of a 2nd door resulted in marriage counseling but the extension was built in 2008 and the counseling supposedly took place in 2012 Then there is also the allegation from her ex that she did infact coach people on how to beat a lie detector test. I don't know if it's true or not but he signed a sworn statement to that effect so while I'll give her the benefit of the doubt in the meantime it certainly should be investigated by the FBI. -

I don't know her reasons for doing so it's clear she lied about significant portions of her story to whether that was because she and her husband were in financial difficulty and needed money. Whether it was because she didn't think she would be believed otherwise. Whether she was told to do so by her lawyers we have no idea. If the FBI and the Republicans had time and this wasn't an 11th hour accusation it would have all been investigated. I hope the investigation continues whether he is confirmed or not. It's important we get to the truth regardless of where that may lead. The fact of the matter is she lied about her door story. She misrepresented her therapist. She might have lied about her polygraph. These aren't some right wing conspiracy theories these are documented like her therapist residence. Like the building plan for the house. The boyfriend has made the allegation of her lying about the polygraph in a sworn statement and we've yet to hear from the person she allegedly coached or the other witness. I'll giver her the benefit of the doubt on that one until we hear from the supposed other witness and the person she coached even though those accusing Kavanaugh are giving him zero benefit of the doubt and treating similar uncorroborated allegations such as the one made by Ford as fact. -

wrathofhahn replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
Of course it's in his sworn statement I made no mention of it however because it wasn't relevant to her allegation. The legitimacy of her polygraph is. Like I said I hope after he's confirmed the Republicans/FBI run a full scale investigation into all this. That would have been my preference but unfortunately the democrats sat on it for months and with Ford waited until the 11th hour before releasing it. It's completely unfair to Kavanuagh to not give him an up or down vote. If people feel his lack of candor when it comes to those yearbook entries disqualifies him like you do they can vote against him and if people feel Ford uncorroborated and disputed allegations are enough they can vote against him for that reason too but it's time to blank or get off the pot. -

wrathofhahn replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
I am not and have not. All the information I've posted has to do with the case. There is other claims out there like credit card fraud that I haven't posted or discussed because they aren't relevant. She said under oath she has never coached anyone to take a polygraph nor is aware of any methods to beat a polygraph and has entered her polygraph as evidence. That is perititant. She has said she told her therapist about Kavanaugh and the double doors. Well we have found the double door thing extremely unlikely infact there are reports she actually installed the door as a renovation as an extra room for the the therapist business. The very same therapist she claims she told the abuse to that she never disclosed the obvious close relationship with. Then they added this to the article: Also casting doubt on Ford's story is the fact she installed no such escape door at a second home, which property records show she and her husband own in Santa Cruz, Calif., less than five blocks from the beach. -

If the circumstances were different I might take have that same viewpoint but Kavanaugh was smeared by the democrats and those questions were only designed to smear him further and embarrass him in front of the nation and his family based on what he said as 15-17 year old. They are not pertinent at all to the allegations made by Dr Ford. I'm also more then willing for further investigations into this I hope it happens. The more this has been investigated the more it stinks and the more her story has fallen apart. She's already proven to have lied about the flying which you can sort of write off as a white lie but she's also proven to lied about her double door and possibly about her claims from the polygraph. Those two are central to her claim. I also don't believe her beach friend story at all if the Dems want to investigate further let them these allegations are garbage which is why they've already started to move the goalposts from the allegations to his temperament, partisanship. and a bunch of slang from his yearbook. In fact DIFI said the other day she doesn't want the results of the FBI investigation released to the public. Huh, I wonder why? -

I've already stated my thinking on this and the national review wrote a great article that summed up my thoughts in a more concise manner. I honestly don't think Brett lied about his drinking he admitted he liked to drink and at times when he had too much to drink going off somewhere and sleeping it off. What more is there to admit to? I don't even understand really where the democrats are going with that one. As far as the yearbook goes I do think he wasn't honest about what the terms meant but it's very hard to prove perjury on slang and some of the stuff he said was not true at the time and was more braggadocios like his entry for Racheal who he never had sexual relations with you'd basically have to prove he used slang (which by definition has no agreed upon meaning) to lie then lied about for it to be perjury so good luck there. To answer your question no I'm not concerned about it because it has nothing to do with the allegation and the questions were designed by democrats to embarrass him and his family to score cheap political points based on his language as a 15-17 year old. My main consideration did he lie about the case like where he was and who he met with with. Could he for example be placed in the room with Ford? If so then I'd be done with him. Are any of the other allegations true (doesn't appear so)? The other stuff is background noise from desperate dems seeking to move the goalposts on questions they never should have asked in the first place. -

They have because everyone who Ford places at that party doesn't remember it happening and doesn't remember Ford and Kavanaugh ever meeting. That aligns exactly with what Kavanaugh has said and runs in stark contrast of Fords story. Ford hasn't established herself as a victim ideally her allegation of abuse would substantiated first before moving onto Kavanaugh but as of yet it hasn't by anyone (in fact it's been refuted by everyone she mentions as being there). The one person who she claims to have told (which is pretty suspect in itself considering the date of 2012 which would be 30 years after the assault) is pretty suspect at this point considering what we have found out from the realclearpolitics investigation piece. Lets just follow what the media reported. First we were told she named Kavanaugh to her therapist. Then we were told she didn't name Kavanaugh to her therapist but described her attack where she mentioned he was judge. Then we were told this therapist was infact a marriage counselor. Now we find the therapist is a friend and her entire story built around having to see the therapist is very, very suspect and the therapist is a former tenant of her home. I don't believe in such coincidences. This leak was timed to cause maximum damage to the Republicans and prevent them choosing another nominee. If her friends were aware of the letter then they would have leaked the information immediately not timed it up in such a way. It came from the democrats. Also lets just follow the logic of her story she claims at the time of the assault she told noone. Not her best friend. Not her family. Not her boyfriends past or present. Noone she held it for 30 years until she told her marriage counselor in 2012 but now that he is a nominee for a supreme court she spilled the beans to "beach friends" and actively sought their advice? Contacted the media? It's strange. It's also strange if she trusted her "beach friends" with this information now why not earlier? Why is the only people she told was allegedly her husband and her therapist in 2012? If Ford made the Republicans aware of her allegations he would have never been nominated. He might have been pulled early even after his nomination. in a way that would have been a shame and made this situation that is unfair to Kavanaugh even more so. Though he'd probably choose that over what him and his family has had to go through. Including a recent cartoonist who even had the audacity to attack his daughter. Now? It's too late to nominate anyone else. You say a middle finger I say showing some spine and finally taking a stand against the democrats spurious smears of course they were forced to but still it's about damn time. -

The fact they hired a female prosecutor who handled Ford with kid gloves rather then question Ford themselves should tell you all you need to know. They are terrified of being seen as not compassionate. After the hearing they all said they found Ford credible and felt something happened to her despite gaping holes in her story and memory even Graham dances around it. In fact the harshest criticism to come on Ford from the people present hasn't been from Republicans it came from the career prosecutor of sexoffenders who highlighted the holes in her testimony and said based on the testimony there was no case against Kavanaugh. -

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2018/10/02/records_raise_questions_about_fords_double-door_story__138225.html Because unlike Kavanaugh who has multiple people corroborating his version of events Ms Ford only has her word. Whether she committed perjury is debatable it certainly seems extremely doubtful her story was truthful reading the information from the article. What is sort of more important and now we know why we never saw the doctor notes is because had she done so the media might have done the legwork and cast a shadow on one her few claims of supporting evidence. Dishonest. -

If the goal was to get Kavanaugh off the supreme court all she had to was send republicans a letter when his nomination was being considered. No way he would have been chosen unsubstantiated allegations or not this was not a battle they wanted to fight so close to the midterms. She didn't. She sent the letter to Feinstein who waited until the 11th hour to release it. I don't really believe in coincidences like this hopefully Graham gets his wish when the FBI investigation is finished into Kavanaugh they get to the bottom of exactly how this happened. -

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2018/10/02/records_raise_questions_about_fords_double-door_story__138225.html The Fords bought the house on June 20, 2007. And the “very extensive, very long remodel,” including the second front door, were completed under a building permit granted in 2008. So a natural question is why, four years after the remodeling, which also added two rooms and a bathroom, is the installation of that second door still such a bone of contention between the couple that it was an issue in the counseling they were undergoing in May 2012? And that may answer another strange anomaly. Because since 1993, and through some listings even today, there was another tenant at what is now the Ford property. It is listed as this person’s residence from 1993 to July 2007, a week or so after she sold the house to the Fords. Her name is Dr. Sylvia Randall, and she listed this address for her California licensed practice of psychotherapy, including couples psychotherapy, until her move to Oregon in 2007. But many existing directories still have Dr. Randall’s address listed at what is now the Ford residence. In a phone call, I asked Dr. Randall if she had sold her house to the Fords. She asked back how I had found out. I asked if she was the couples therapist who treated the Fords. She would not answer yes or no, replying, “I am a couples therapist.” This was a professional drive by the democrats. Hopefully the media keeps digging. -

Ford could have chose to give the information to Republicans prior to kavanaugh being the nominee. Could have given the letter to both Republicans and Democrats then asked for her confidentiality to be kept then allowed her allegations to be investigated privately. Didn't do it. That is one aspect of her testimony that is wholly unbelievable when she said she felt it was her civic duty to stop Kavanaugh she had so many opportunities prior why now? I know what Republicans are doing they know she has zero corroboration so they are content to turn it into a everyone else said she said but I'm actually interested in the whole truth regarding this allegation not only as it relates to kavanaugh but also Ford. She claims some "beach friends" are helping her out with costs who are they and how much money they've given her. She's received well over a million dollars in gofundme money since slipping it into her testimony where is that money going to? With that being said Kavanaugh did attempt to minimize his drinking. While I believe him that he did not engage in the activities claimed by others in his yearbook I do think he was being braggadocios as a 15-17 year old and not being completely truthful of what he meant at that time. I also think had the sexual allegation not existed he would have admitted it freely and it's a distraction from the central question is there evidence that what Ford claims A) Happened B) Kavanuah did it. She hasn't even gotten to A) let alone B). -

So he is supposed to be calm cool and collected as his good name is smeared and his family is dragged through hell? Sorry the rest of us are not going to play that game and are we supposed to pretend the Democrats were not acting in a complete partisan manner? Calling the man evil. Showboating. Claiming themselves Spartacus. Telling men to sit down and shutup. Hell a bunch of them said they believed her before the hearing even began We all saw what happened to Bork and what happened to Thomas. If you aren't going to stand up and defend yourself and your family forcibly against the partisan smearing we all saw take place don't expect anyone else to do so for you. He came out swinging and showed he wasn't going to act all demure as his good name and family was dragged through the mud. He is not the one who originally made it personal he was more then willing to discuss the law in a thoughtful well reasoned matter we saw 36 hours of that via questioning you go after his reputation label him gang rapist then go after his family all bets are off. Infact if he didn't react in that way he wouldn't be of a man at all and the democrat party does not get to hold a monopoly on righteous anger funny noone in the media attacked the democrats senators temperament as gillibrand and Hirono were completely hysterical speaking to the media yelling at times in defense of a woman they've never met about an event they've yet to hear testimony on from either side . Yet there sat Hirno a couple of days later asking questions like she was somehow interested in the truth and didn't have her mind made up. Brett was right to call them out on their farce of a show trial and it isn't exactly a secret how these allegations came about a democrat leaked them likely Diane Feinstein -
Pointless this team is at least two years away from contending putting a veteran manager in charge of things is not the way forward. Maybe in two years its time to consider the next scioscia but what is important now is someone who is patient and willing to work with out young players.

I got in a serious car accident a decade ago I remember where I was at the time, what I was doing, and the time it happened. Why? Mainly, how it affected my life afterwards and my day to day plans that year. FYI, I was knocked unconscious and sent to the ER my experience is the exact opposite of what you claim and what I was told by doctors. They told me the brain protects you from trauma as a result the accident itself is harder to recall then the events leading up to the accident and after the accident. Which actually makes a whole lot more sense then what Ford is claiming when you think about it and how she can remember the trauma itself but nothing else. She also claims it had a huge impact on her life and if that is true then she should have been able to narrow it down easily maybe not to the day, maybe not the week, but at least the month because there would have been events she would have missed and her day to day life affected. Instead she narrowed it down by her drivers license I found that strange. I found certain aspects of her story credible and others like the prosecutor said had big gaping holes. -
