Hahn didn't move guys to improve the clubhouse he moved guys who had value on shortterm deals to receive prospects. Tim Anderson and Grandal are still here for FFS. Flat out lie and furthermore prior to the deadline Hahn and Grifol was not talking about improving the clubhouse culture. Hahn also talked about what stays in clubhouse should stay in clubhouse. Whose interest does that silence serve? The simple answer is his own ass. We knew the performance of this team and certain players have been bad but noone knew the clubhouse was as bad as it is.

Look I would have fired him earlier but he realistically wasn't going to be fired after 2020 or 2021 despite there being warning signs about his inability to use FA or trades to fill out the roster. So yes he fired him one year too late after he gets fired this year. He oversaw a rebuild and failed. It is time to move on

It's pointless for one he owns the team so he isn't going anywhere and two owners are very rarely heavily involved in the day to day decision making of teams. So it's wasted energy on two fronts and most importantly on the blame pie chart I'd rather blame the persons directly. Hahn should and will be fired at the end of the year. Grifol likely as well as they should be. Those two decisions will make the biggest difference along with cleaning out the clubhouse

So sorry you are in your feelings about KW and JR that the fact they have very little to do with the clubhouse bothers you. Not my problem or fault. Don't like my posts set me to ignore but I am not going anywhere.

Come on RW and JR have nothing to do with the clubhouse. I doubt they have even talked to a majority of the players on the roster. You can criticize them for the decision to hire hahn and Grifol but the day to day decision making is on Hahn and Grifol. Also of course the players.

I don't blame KW or even JR for the culture I blame coaching, RH, and our loser clubhouse of players. They are the ones making the day to day decisions the blame ultimately falls on them

He wasn't physically capable of being that guy anymore. Still his reputation is exactly what this team needed and still needs. We can't afford to have another manager who is a punching bag for this clubhouse and while getting rid of the worst offenders is important too it's much easier to fix the clubhouse by getting a manager who will hold players accountable

Did Anderson lose that one too. It's becoming more and more of an open question whether Anderson gets that option picked up

Completely fair criticism because that is what TLR was which was too old and in too poor of health to manage. However, what TLR was 30 years ago is what this club desperately needs even moreso than an new age manager who understands analytics. Clearly the inmates have run the asylum for far too long and there is a complete lack of discipline on and off the field. We desperately need to bring in a veteran experienced manager who are going to hold these guys accountable over the course of a long season

Its funny because TLR was here everyone criticized him for being out of touch let the players play they said. Well you see what happens when you let the inmates run the aslyum. With that being said I cant and wont defend some of his managing moves but this team desperately needs a credible firm hand that is going to hold people accountable

But I would have liked to find out what exactly was he pitching for this year that he needed to come back as soon as he did?

Agreed. With that being said prior to his health scare he was one of better Hahns signings.

He will decline his option so it's not just our decision. I would be shocked if he doesn't get a multi year deal as a FA since the MLB is so starved for SP his stuff is still good and he has put up good numbers. So I don't really understand why he wasn't moved but maybe they are working on an extension or something behind the scenes

If you are doing a complete teardown it would have made sense to move Robert who still has four years of control left because while I agree he is a franchise cornerstone type player you are going to be probably burning through at least three of those years just trying to get into contention maybe all four. But since we aren't by keeping Cease and pretty much the people with multi year deals moving him would have made no sense. Here is the thing we can always revaiuate things next year. I am encouraged by what we did this deadline now we need to see how they fill out the roster. The only thing I wish they did is they brought in guys like Urias or India as essentially flyer type options. Guys who would still have control and eliminate a position you needed to fill in the offseason should they be able to get themselves back on track.

His FIP was 4.44 at the time which is strange to say considering our defense but he was infact a bit lucky. Same goes for Clevinger. Speaking of Clevinger he is really the one issue I had because he should have been moved. I get the timing wasnt perfect coming back from injury and he has a dark cloud over him but he's a solid number 3 on a playoff team I would be shocked if there was no offers. Heck chapman got moved and he is a reliever.

Exactly this. I have very little confidence in Hahn being able to pull it off but this seems to be a plan. We had a choice to move cease and roberts doing a complete teardown or a retool. We choose to do a retool. Honestly I am surprised we got as much as we did back because none of these shortterm guys were having great years and were a big reason why our record is what it is.
