  1. I probably would of voted for either Menechino or Giolito if they were eligible. But they are not - and based on lofty expectations and despite overall good defense, I'm going with Moncada. His bat is just dead. That OBP is truly awful. He's supposed to be our best player or top 2 or 3.
  2. They are short-term compared to what Machado, Harper or any other major star will get in free agency. After the 2022 season, the Sox owe Grandal 18.25 mil, and Keuchel's contract is off the books. This is what it's about for Jerry. Meanwhile, the Harper and Machado contracts have this left after 2022: Manny Machado - 6 years left for $180 mil Bryce Harper - 9 years left for $222 mil
  3. We've gone over this a billion times. It's probably more Jerry's doing. He won't commit to long-term, big dollar contracts. He will spend in the short term though, which both Yaz and Keuchel were.
  4. They're in a tough spot now, which is self inflicted of course. As has been discussed, raises already in current contracts will take Keuchel's money. And they still have bums like Grandal and Kelly that need to be paid for another season. And there's holes or 'square pegs in round holes' everywhere you look on this team. The problem for the Sox is - good luck with ticket sales without something to excite Sox fans this winter. Who would want to invest a lot of money in this garbage product? They've actually made it less entertaining than the teams 3-4 years ago when they were trying to lose on purpose.
  5. It's time to let Giolito go. He can't be depended on.

    Moncada

Steve Stone has alluded to Moncada's work ethic lacking more than once. He has more inside knowledge than all of us here. Let's not pretend that this is just clueless fans painting this picture. For me, during a debacle of a season that is working towards being one of the low points in White Sox history, all things considered. It's refreshing when insiders actually speak up, even when it hurts the company line. Johnny Cueto spoke up this week was huge and it ticked off TLR. Too f'ing bad Tony. If we don't see a drastic turn around in the next 7-8 weeks, then people like Moncada and La Russa need to be purged from the White Sox this winter.
  7. Problem is - he is poor defensively at third, and the team is overloaded with right handed 1B/DH types. There's nowhere to put him.

    Moncada

You're probably right. Getting the real Moncada back will be the Sox big off-season addition!

    Moncada

Yeah... or, if an impact third basemen is easier to acquire this winter than an impact second basemen, do it, and move Moncada to 2B. His wishes are beginning to not matter anymore.
  10. Yeah but he didnt ruin a whole damn decade, which Hahn seems about to have on his resume. This is Hahn easily over Hawk.
  11. I'm pretty sure I heard Hahn on the Score in the last week defending Menechino, saying this is the same guy that led these guys to big numbers in 20 and 21, therefore he is not the problem.
  12. I don't see anything happening this year. But there's enough talent here, where if they shuffle the deck and make some correct changes this winter, this team could take off. Now do I have confidence this will happen? No, but I'll remain hopeful.
  13. I thought he was lucky it wasn't more, as a repeat offender. The rules are pretty clear. Don't touch an ump.
  14. As uninspiring as this team is, they're not going to make another white flag trade being only 3 games out. I just hope they don't blow the few good prospects they have chasing a bad season.
  15. Eh, if they were that interested in going for it, I think we would have seen a much different approach last winter. I don't buy it.
  16. The thought of Gallo coming to the Sox is gross. As if this team isn't unlikable enough as they have been. He will somehow find a way to get even worse if he comes here, as most Hahn traded for players do.
  17. I don't disagree. They've cornered themselves in with some bad contracts. I was just pointing out - right now Giolito is a mediocre 3rd/4th starter at best, until he proves otherwise. I'm not sure that he is a barometer for any success or lack of going forward.
  18. If we're hanging on to Giolito for the rebuild succeeding or not, we're probably in trouble. They should of added a TOR starter last winter, but blew that obvious need off. Now the need is even greater.
  19. I guess they could move Robert for Soto. But two things have to happen. The package has to be very light besides Robert. And as you said, don't even think about it unless you're going to lock him up longterm.
  20. I agree with everything you are saying here. But realistically, Jerry's loyalty to his employees far exceeds his loyalty to his team's fans. We all know this. We're most likely stuck in this rut until Jerry's time as an owner comes to end, whenever that will be.
  21. I wasn't in the game thread. But fans booing TLR and wanting him to get canned aren't classless. They are fans that care about their team. TLR has been a very big part of ruining this rebuild (so far). And every now and then I see posters in this forum that have questionable pro management viewpoints and I sometimes wonder if they are certain people on burner accounts? Things that make you go hmmm.
  22. It's nice that he didn't leave Lynn in there to die as he has done more than a few times. Hopefully Lance can build off this start.
  23. Wish you were wrong, but good call.
