Why did they challenge that? -

Eh, Renteria is terrible. But the bullpen is gased from last night. I don't blame him for this move. -

That looked like a lazy effort by Tim there -
Yep. I think 10th is a lot more likely than 5th. We'll see.

I hate to be a party pooper, but I don't see the Sox even sniffing a top 5 pick. Most everything has gone wrong since the allstar break, which led to that 4-13 stretch. Anderson is back. Eloy will get going (somewhat at least). Moncada will be back. Gio pitched better in his last start. Nova is pitching well. I'll guess we end up picking 9th. It could easily be a 2-3 spots lower or 2-3 spots higher.

It wasn't me spewing hate towards them. But umm, the worst record in the AL over the last 10 years and the same executives that engineered this amazing feat are still in place? Seems pretty easy to understand to me.

My worry is that Reinsdorf has seen his profits soar during the rebuild, and won't want to go back to a healthy payroll like they've had in the past. I mean, the Nate Jones salary dump trade doesn't exactly embolden me with confidence that they are ready to spend on this team. Yes I still am butt hurt over the Machado fiasco - and honestly, we all should be. You've commented before about how they were arrogantly swinging their dick all around last winter and then did nothing. They essentially lied to us throughout the last off-season. All I take out of his comments from Wednesday are that he's starting to swing it around again. You know the old saying, fool me once....

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Sarava replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I still think the Sox stand pat with Alex. I imagine Hahn is asking for the moon for Colome, and nobody will want to pay that. -

He's a rental and his ERA is in the low 1's since May. That's what teams want for playoff pushes. -

Yep. This is exactly what I don't want the Sox trading Colome for. A fading prospect who's name is shinier than his performance. But if you can get a guy with good upside and on the upswing, then sure, go for it. -
He's already jumped 2 levels this year and it's his first season in America playing mostly injury free. I don't think keeping him down now looks as bad as keeping Eloy down last year looked.

What are we expecting back? While I want to keep him. If they can nab a top 60 or 70 prospect, particularly a pitcher (and one who's stock isn't falling), then I could be persuaded. I just know if they move him, a few months from now they'll have to figure out how to replace him. And as we've seen from Herrera, it's not always a slam dunk. -

I'll be surprised if he gets moved. His value to the Sox next year is quite a bit, and I just don't see anyone offering enough for the Sox to part with that. -
Quintana was having a mediocre year with the Sox when traded. That's the parallel he/she was making with Diaz.
-
It might of pushed Anderson to CF (where I think he would be great), which then pushes Robert to RF and fills that hole. I don't see any way that not signing Machado is a good thing. Machado plus all these other young guns could of been a potential murders row...err, South Side Hitmen part 2.
-
He was right to not go from third. No need to take a big chance like that with no outs. But on Abreu's basehit, his unawareness of the shortstop's positioning cost him a chance to score on that play. But eh, he had a good night
-
They're not signing a bigtime Boras free agent, so let's not set ourselves up for that. but I feel they'll make the moves one way or another. It might be via trade. in the meantime, why are you so defensive about the Cubs?
-
Yeah I dont want Colome moved unless i'ts a clear overpay.
-
Nice to get a win. Great pitching tonight
-
They have the payroll flexiblity to do these things. The Cubs do not because of all those bad signings.
-
Uh no. Going forward from right now and in to the coming years, I'll take the Sox situation over the Cubs situation 10 times out of 10.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Sarava replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would be very surprised if he isn't on the team next year. -
I don't think that means anything. They can talk this off-season. And maybe it depends on what they do with Vaughn, and what their projection for him is after this season ends. As for the trading deadline, I know it's boring, but I'm expecting little to nothing from the Sox. I think they will already have next year in mind, and probably won't get good enough offers on their guys to make it worth biting on. They don't need to keep trading for tweeners like Cordell and Tilson anymore. They do no good for us.
