  1. I would have a real hard time trading Madigral.
  2. Obviously you can't trade Robert. But I'd be fine with trading Vaughn for the right return. He's the one blue chip prospect we have that doesn't feel necessary for this team to be complete. But it would have to be a big 'get' to move him.
  3. Not interested enough to send out any of our high profile prospects for Benintendi. However, this does worry me, as it was known the Sox wanted Benintendi bad in his draft year. If that was KW (not sure), I could see him pushing hard to get him, since he doesn't seem to let it go once he wants a player.
  4. That would be my hope. I would guess the team would sell for around $2 billion, which hopefully would squeeze out the current minority owners. It would be neat if one of them billionaires that spends like crazy bought the team. Sox fans deserve that.
  5. I wouldn't trade Eloy. There's something special about him, and I think a chemistry is already developing with our guys that they shouldn't break up. If it comes down to trading prospects for a controllable #1 or #2, how about a deal like Vaughn+ ? I'm not sure what pitchers would be available that I'd give Vaughn up for, though. Syndergaard has struggled too much this season for me to give up a big piece like Vaughn (or Eloy).
  6. I didn't know Cole was a Boras guy. Oh this will be fun. I can see it now...the Sox will have 'a seat at the table', and then Boras waits until April (torturing us all for 4-5 long off-season months) to sign with a team out of nowhere.... I'll go with the Padres again. And for the extra kick to the junk, he'll cite the bright future of playing with Tatis Jr. and Machado for the next 7 years. Hopefully they have a plan, and it's a bit more solid than last winter's. Because signing Machado with a cap of $250 mil guaranteed dollars was never going to happen.
  7. Good post. In an ideal world, I'd want the Sox to sign Gerrit Cole, and someone else that can slot in as a #3 or #4 starter. Then let Gio, Cease and Kopech fill in the rest of the rotation. Move Lopez to the pen. The possibilities are endless. I don't think it's impossible that Cole comes here if Reinsdorf is willing to pony up the cash. The whole baseball world can see what is coming with the Sox, and I'm thinking some guys might want to be a part of it. We kind of saw the same thing with the Blackhawks and Cubs as their eventual champion teams were building up. It's gotta be a warm feeling to be a pitcher, knowing they will have guys like Moncada, Robert, Jimenez, Vaughn and Anderson putting up a lot runs for them. And while many guys love playing in New York, quite a few don't want that huge spotlight. I'm not sure where Cole would fall in that regard. The big problem is - I just can't see Reinsdorf committing $200 mil to a pitcher. To me, that's way riskier than giving Machado $300 mil, and he wouldn't do that. So while this all sounds nice, I just don't have faith in our owner. I would love to be wrong.
  8. Since when does a beautiful house take 5 years to build? Seriously though, I'm not sure who he's referring to. Sox fans have been ridiculously patient with this rebuild and the ones I know at least, they still are. Those guys have gotten more fan support for this rebuild that they ever deserved.
  9. Yeah, that sounds like a nice plan. I guess the question is - would a team really give up a top 50 (and close to mlb ready) prospect for those 2 guys? I'm skeptical. You sold me though.
  10. Rebuilding an entire bullpen from scratch this off-season doesn't seem likely. I'd hate to have all the young guns blazing next year, but the year gets screwed over by a garbage bullpen. That said, if you can get a top 50 prospect, that's hard to say no to. I doubt the Dodgers would offer that, though.
  11. I was thinking something like 5/35. For a guy with one good half of baseball, that's a lot of guaranteed money. It might work for both sides.
  12. Nobody wants to keep him for the sake of winning a few more games this year. It's to have a good bullpen moving forward in to next year and beyond. Why are you against him being our closer for the next 2-4 years? At a certain point you have to say it's time to build this up, instead of continuing to tear it down. The Sox have the pieces to move full steam ahead.
  13. I guess I'm doubting Giolito signs for the kind of money Reisndorf would be comfortable with. Obviously Q and Sale did.
  14. I wonder what the Sox would do with Giolito. The book on Reinsdorf used to be that he was afraid of long term contracts with pitchers. Might be worth the risk though.
  15. How about the Sox sign Colome to a contract extension and they make a push towards the playoffs next year?
  16. To be fair to Hahn and the Sox, the draft *at that time* appeared to drop off hard at the Sox pick.
  17. I'd keep him at this point. It's time to start building up.
  18. Not even close. The Padres offer was far better.
  19. Well it was said 2 years ago when the Sox took Jake Burger, and it turned out to be true.
  20. Not sure. Where I live in West Dundee we're supposed to be done with the rain for the most part. Not sure for the south side.
  21. Crazy that they're playing through this. And Rondon is an idiot.
  22. Rodon himself said the other day he wants to prove that he isn't a bust for a #3 pick. If he's bringing it up, we sure as hell can.
  23. This is the part I'm losing faith in. We keep rooting for these draft picks, only for these guys to turn out to be underwhelming. I refuse to root for oodles of losses, just so we can get another Zach Collins or Carson Fulmer in the system.
  24. It's the White Sox way They're often too cheap to pay guys fair market value. But they usually are willing to sign them a little early, taking a gamble that it might turn in to a great contract for the team.
