  1. Yeah, right after the Tigers' horrible 2003, they added Ivan Rodriguez, Carlos Guillen, and an injured Magglio Ordonez. They then signed Kenny Rogers for the 2006 season. Pudge and Magglio bought into the FO vision right away. I don't know if Getz has that going for him, right now. The Sox might want to go another season sorting through the top end of their system to see who can actually play the game, first. Maybe if they get a hitting development team in place, they can take a flyer on 3-4 guys who may need fixing, like they did with Fedde, Flexen, Soroka this year.
  2. They've sucked at pro scouting. I think they had Hostetler doing pro scouting this season. Time to upgrade.
  3. Yeah, nobody's saying Chris Getz was a star but you. Okay. I'm done.
  4. If you "admitted JR's press conference was a joke", then it wouldn't come up as the basis of every single argument. This is the first year of a rebuild. I get it that you're surprised that the first year of a rebuild could result in a bad record. It gets tiresome laying out the same argument of what Getz was left to build from this season, comments about how free agents avoided the team because of bad defense/clubhouse rumors, etc - only to have you ignore them the next time you decide to start this all up again. The fact that Getz is revamping international scouting, and all the development systems as GM says to me he was stopped from doing that under Hahn/KW. You don't like Getz, because Jerry Reinsdorf lied in a press conference. Period. So you spend your days criticizing every single move multiple times to keep a narrative alive.
  5. Dude, I really don't see the point of this comment. Getz is the GM. I have an unwavering attitude attitude of "wait and see" in the face of people like you whining that I'm not joining you in having a good cry. We're in the first year of a rebuild. I choose to not whine like a man-baby. Zavala was an example of the White Sox becoming able to develop the defensive side of a catcher's game. What has Getz done? Revamped pitching development. It sure looks like he's cleaning house, which is what every Sox fan has been screaming about for the last ten years. Please tell me why I shouldn't just ignore your comments, going forward. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder towards me, and regularly misrepresent what I say.
  6. Ho hum. JR's press conference. I suppose you'll always have that for rage bait. LOL. And there you go, avoiding answering a reasonable question with diversions. You love your tiny sample sizes when they support your "JR said something untrue at a press conference" narrative. Good thing Getz didn't grab up Michael A. Tucker and Canaan Smith-Njigba to take this team to the World Series Reinsdorf apparently promised us this year. U funny.
  7. Dude, $60 million was tied up in 4 players Getz never signed. Getz wasn't the GM for the 2023 season. You're just throwing dishonest BS at the wall. You don't write a check, throw it on the field , and that check wins games. Benintendi, Robert, Yoan, and Eloy proved that. And Getz didn't even "spend" that money. I get it. You hate Chris Getz, and will torture every single fact, even if it doesn't really fit, just to trash the guy, and keep on pushing your narrative.
  8. The conversation was that nobody traded a top 100 prospect this deadline. The Cards wouldn't even part with Jordan Walker, who is high ceiling, but has shown about as much as Vargas has in the bigs. I don't know how long it will take for Vargas and Fletcher to grow into the roles Getz envisioned for them. You seem to expect them to plug in and be .300/.400/.500 hitters, or else they're garbage. And you've already admitted you're being harder on every move and player because you hate Getz, so if Dave Dombrowski became our GM, and Fletcher was his first trade, would you have been calling him garbage out the gate, then?
  9. The team sucks. Everything they do pisses us all off, and justifiably so. I just think calling it "moronic" is strong. This feels like the 2nd or 3rd time this year they've done that. Sitting a guy for a few games to see what he does. This one went longer. They had the extra guy, anyway.
  10. How many times has it happened this year? A few? I seem to remember people going nuts over Colas or Ramos being on the roster for a day longer and more vociferously than sitting somebody for a week before they put him on the IL. Hahn/KW did it much more.
  11. Again. Pick a lane. Are you mad because they bring up a guy for a game to have 26 guys, or mad because they wait a couple of days to see if a player will heal quickly? It's not asinine. Asinine is pages and pages of people whining about every single roster transaction. Baldwin's a guy OPSing 560. The guy they bring up will hit a whopping 1-21, and everyone will scream that Getz should be fired for making a roster move, and not developing a guy they just picked up off the waiver wire. Nobody even tries to make sense, anymore.
  12. Counterpoint: No you wouldn't have.
  13. Should Jeff Luhnow have been fired after that horrible 2013 111-loss team? His 2012 team had 107 losses. It's called a rebuild.
  14. Moronic? Seeing as they didn't have another shortstop on the 40-man, and Lopez was on waivers, maybe they didn't want to have to roster Remillard or Difo. It's a 31-109 team. How bad could they be, playing a guy short on expanded rosters?
  15. It's funny that everyone seems to have "they played shorthanded" and "why bring a guy up for a day" macros on their keyboard. The wrist didn't respond to treatment. Big deal.
  16. And Nicky Lopez went 5/7 from June 22/23. Can you direct me to your gushing posts on those magical 2 games?
  17. And if, somehow, Getz gets on a winning streak, or he's fired, everyone will just word search "Getz" and replace with "Reinsdorf". It's really just bad performance art, at this point.
  18. Well, they do say that 3 weeks in Miami is like a year in any other place, so I guess that 57 plate appearances is like 600.
  19. Eric Fedde on the Cardinals sure doesn't look like Erick Fedde on the White Sox. They sure upgraded their organizational pitching in one off-season.
  20. Didn't Getz say this isn't the off-season they'll be "spending"? I see more fix and flip options, maybe 2 starting pitchers, an IF and OF. Another weird, unemployable catcher who could call a game, or keep the backup gear warm until Quero catches fire.
  21. I see a guy like Buck Showalter, who seems to be an acquired taste around the game. Sho seems to focus on fundamentals, and runs a good clubhouse. He's a good "accountability" manager. He's good at firing up a team, but I've read that grows old as a team matures. Good in-game manager, not big on analytics, or working rookies into a veteran lineup. Good bullpen usage. In 2025, Vaughn and Benintendi may be his only pets to run out there every day.
  22. Upgrading organizational hitting is on the shopping list this off-season, so maybe a guy like Vargas was a focus for working with what could be the next Charlie Lau, or Walt Hriniak, if that even exists, anymore.
  23. Unless he was the highest ceiling available. The Cardinals wouldn't even let Jordan Walker go, who looks pitiful at the plate, right now. You can target all you want. Not one top 100 prospect was traded, this deadline.
  24. Colas sure hasn't torn it up in Charlotte, and if he's showing the same problems that poisoned the well on him last season, I'm not sure what the point is.
