Fangraphs indicates Berroa has one more option which won't be used this year if he gets put on the 60-day IL. I would imagine they do that with either Berroa, Carella, or both to avoid playing the season with 38 active players on the 40-man.

Well, it could be something that, with a regular stretching routine, is manageable. Without, it's random. I think Dan Hayes was talking about Royce Lewis from the Twins on the SoxMachine podcast. Lewis played about 30 games through the end of July, and finally got on a regular stretching routine, and played the rest of the season.

It has been.

Back, as in - he's under contract with CHSN?

Shane Smith went 2 innings in the 3/01 game against the Mariners. While that seemed to be the normal allotment for that cycle, Nastrini threw 3 in the same game. I'd rather the Sox go into a 2-game rotation of Baldwin and Meidroth at SS and move Amaya out. Brooks and Chase (there's a country duo for you) cover a lot of positions on the same roster.

Carella was less of a fire-baller, wasn't he?
-
While Gilbert certainly seems to be in their plans, Shane Smith seems to be in the actual 5-day ST rotation, for all that's worth. I was concerned with Baldwin's lack of starts in ST, but maybe he was just dinged, or they were bringing him along slowly from last year's injury. He seems to be on the regular rotation of every other day starts, now.

Great article at SoxMachine about how Shane Smith is being brought along. What do the White Sox have in Rule 5 pick Shane Smith?
-
Mason Adams is the next live arm up, a la Davis Martin. I think he's a guy you bring along with the focus of getting the extra year of control.
-
Thorpe is actually throwing and working towards a return.
-
I agree with this where C. Monty, Quero, Teel and Mason Adams are concerned. I just feel that Meidroth will be a nice utility guy who can start for a month, and the extra control isn't really an issue. Somebody like Teel could pick up Scott Boras as his agent, and he's gone after 6 years of control. Meidroth is like, if you want him, he's there.
-
Not Earth-shattering. They have to get longer looks at their 5 top catchers and a bunch of bullpen guys. I'd like to see Joey Gallo in the next round of cuts.
-
I'm of this mind with Meidroth. I don't think he's the offensive or defensive profile where you have to worry about what he will cost in 6 years. His ceiling is probably 2021 Leury Garcia (which is an awesome player to have), and that was relatively cheap to extend, if Meidroth is still killing it at that level in 2031.

Julks hasn't really picked it up and run with it. I'd say Drury in LF, Rojas at 2B and Sosa at DH. -

Sarcastic. I'd like to see him snap-to and throw a couple convincing innings. -

Happy for Shuster to eat that 3-spot. Dead arm period.
