  1. I honestly don't know why this is the answer to "three of their top hitters got injured". Robert, Yoan and Eloy are on the team. They have guaranteed contracts. I'm assuming there was no trade interest for Yoan or Eloy, and nobody got close to what Robert's worth. They had to go into the season assuming they had a starting 3B, DH and CF. You're saying it like, "you don't get to claim that Robert, Eloy and Yoan being out of the lineup at the same time had any affect on their won-loss record". When it really does. They wouldn't be a run-away first place team with all three, but they wouldn't be vying for worst record ever, either.
  2. Good. We're horrible at hitting with runners in scoring position. Maybe have him steal home once a game.
  3. They're saying Robert is getting the call up today.
  4. Why stick with the guys who aren't working out? They stuck with Benintendi and Vaughn way too long. Every team deals with 40-man issues. Some of the guys we've complained about are still bouncing around the league. Bailey Horn. Burdick. Smith-Njigba. What is "roster protection"?
  5. How did he not "plan" for it? He had his replacement DH sitting on the bench, and his replacement CF playing RF. Sosa and Shewmake didn't work out at 3B. It would be nice to have 3 top 20 prospects in the game sitting in AAA waiting for a shot. We don't.
  6. I don't know why this matters. Knowing players can get injured doesn't mean you don't have to replace them when they do.
  7. Willie Mays was "banned" from baseball in 1979 when he took a job as a greeter in a casino. His contract stipulated he could not bet in that casino, and the casino did not do sports betting. Bowie Kuhn didn't want anything to do with gambling.
  8. Yeah, if we traded Colson Montgomery for Frankie Montas, that would be a panic. This is just fielding a lineup, getting the kids who are getting shelled out of there is prudent.
  9. Where does one go to report an exaggeration? Who cares if he's setting a record for roster moves? Is that something we're supposed to be deeply ashamed of? I really only have a problem with 2 moves, so far. Signing Maldonado and Clevinger. We all seem to forget they lost their 3 main offensive players, and had 2 other starters crash and burn. The GM should be shuffling in anybody who can fog a mirror to get some runs. And actually, Duke Ellis is kind of the next in line. There's DeLoach, then right after him, there's the group of Ellis, Veras, Burke and Tatum. Maybe they don't want DeLoach to sit. Colas is up, and will probably get real innings. Fletcher got a good long look to start the season. Julks played his way into the lineup.
  10. There's not a lot of challenging me to defend some strawman that was just concocted, anymore. I've pretty much stopped responding to the main practitioner, and you & Quin seem to have settled down. Although it does still stick in his craw that Seby Zavala is an example of the Sox getting better at developing the catching game of their catchers.
  11. Thanks. I'm impressed you actually took the time away from correcting every other exaggeration on this site to focus on mine.
  12. I didn't suggest that at all. That's a silly leap to make. I'm sure the White Sox give their players training programs to follow in the offseason. It has been suggested that the team is somehow responsible for forcing players to follow them.
  13. I would think that Braden Shewmake, hitting 5-33 at AAA, would be the lowest hanging fruit.
  14. I'm surprised nobody is screaming that the White Sox should have known he was gambling, and it's Chris Getz' fault, somehow. They already think the team should kidnap players during the offseason and force them to work out the way they're supposed to.
  15. Remillard played some in AAA.
  16. If Fletcher's going on the IL, they need a 4th OF.
  17. Popeye bet on White Sox game run totals. The one year suspensions did not bet on games in which they were playing.
  18. I'm confused. Do legitimate organizations not call up minor leaguers when their players get injured?
  19. Popeye Rodriguez gets one year suspension for gambling. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/06/mlb-lifetime-ban-tucupita-marcano-betting-baseball-four-one-year-suspensions.html
  20. The thing that really sickens me was the wave of White Sox Twitter influencers posting their bet tickets on Twitter. I have to believe that they were recruited as influencers to bet for free and post, or maybe they weren't. My timeline was littered with team win/HR parlays for a season. If they weren't recruited, it's really *that* fucking addictive.
  21. Hey, I have a question, asked under a flag of truce. I get the negative reactions during game threads, or to daily roster moves. Pointing out "there's that first class White Sox development!!" after an error or baserunning blunder is one way to blow off frustration and not break your TV. Some of the bloggers on Twitter run regular features, like SouthSideSox's Futility Watch, where they update the run differential, losing streaks, where this historic bad start to the season ranks, what the team's on track for, and I suppose, if I wanted to keep track of that to mock it, or whatever, that would certainly be an informative series to follow. But does anybody listen to an hour-long podcast on the team where they "document the atrocities"? Does anyone actually spend the time to read another article mocking the Sox for how bad they are? I'll listen to FutureSox podcasts, maybe SoxMachine, if there's a lot of roster moves or other news I'd like Jim and James' take on. I would think people who have the same outlook (hating the team for this period of suck) would just steer clear to save an hour in the day they're not pissed off at this team. I wouldn't spend an hour listening to a podcast that mocked the Cubs or Guardians. The other threads on Twitter - where a blogsite might beat on the Sox for this horrible streak, then try to gin up enthusiasm over their piece on the Cubs/Sox series, maybe they get clicks from different subsets of fans on each type of approach, and they just stay away from each other, for the most part.
