I think I generally stay away from the drive-bys, and people like you who are frustrated, and for the most part, talk baseball. When Caulfield or WS2023 do their BS, yeah, I'll get sucked in and argue. I believe that's the point of their behavior. I come here because it's probably the best gathering of rumors and sports talk/blogs/etc. I ignore what I can, but the negative stuff builds up, and I respond sometimes.

Here's a paraphrasing of what you're responding to: I didn't recall people being "duped", here, by the press conference. TRU responded, complaining about the hiring process and the "waste a year" comment. I agreed with him on hiring process, but I said I moved on, and now want the team to succeed. You come in and accuse me of being mad. There isn't any anger in my words. People have said that they're hyper-critical because of the hiring. That's not about observing the actual process of what's going on. "Ruining my life" is you engaging in hyperbole, and deciding that you want to attack somebody. I believe I'm participating in a discussion about Getz rebuilding from the ground up. Surprise!! That's in the name of the string. So I think I'm good. Anyway... A rebuild does not start with a world series victory. I'm not mad at people saying they don't see it. There are obvious results. You just saw two of our minor league teams compete in their league's championships this year. You saw the Sox rise to a top 5 farm system. You saw the Sox clock in with the 2 top left-handed pitching prospects in the game, #1 taken late in the 1st round, and developed. No, those aren't major league wins and losses. But judging the overhaul of an organization in it's first year by the major league product is mistaken. Those statements don't get me angry, I just figure those are people not really engaged in what the Sox are doing as an organization, and will complain about anything. Again, screaming about "dumpster-diving" a guy off of waivers, then tying it back to a sentence from a press conference 18 months ago has nothing to do with criticism of how Getz is overhauling the organization.

Zavala was an example of an achievement in developing the defensive game of catchers. Seriously, bringing up half an example to lie is actual trolling. I sure hope you recover from the devastating injury of a 41 win season. Thoughts and prayers.

I was rooting for that. It didn't happen. Getz is the guy, now, and I want him to succeed, because that means the Sox succeed. He's actually overhauling the organization. Being hyper-critical at this point is about hurt feelings, and not actual baseball.

Once they plugged Scholtens in as a starter, he had strong outings against Texas, Cleveland and Baltimore (in 2023). He's a serviceable arm who can start. Funny how people are screaming that there's no bullpen arms, but cry when one is let go. However, I think a rehabbing Scholtens could have snuck through waivers. Marinaccio got all the way down to the Padres.

This is when I come to the conclusion that you have nothing valuable to say. You can't stay on subject, and wander off to personal attacks. Reasonable people think Getz walked the line between being honest and not burning people like the Dodgers and KW/Hahn pretty well in the REKAP interview. He didn't promise a World Series tomorrow, or that Eloy, Yoan and Robert would all be in the lineup well past game 11.

In 1997, the Sox could not get out of their own way. That team was maddening. And after every freaking loss, a half dozen guys could only talk about trade rumors after the game, and not the game they just lost. It was a good team that was poorly managed. There were not going to catch Cleveland. They took 4 from KC in July, then couldn't string together three wins for the rest of the month. They traded Alvarez, Hernandez and Darwin. Reinsdorf gave a brutally honest interview on sports radio, and "White Flag Trade" was thrown in his face regularly until the world series victory. So, you're talking about a fanbase that has openly told the owner to never speak the truth to them. He did, and they went nuts on him. Liptak still hasn't gotten over it.

The entire advertising world speaks to you like you're stupid 24 hours a day. How many TeeVees do you go through in a month? Oh, you never break a TeeVee? Then you must love being talked to like you're stupid. Chris Getz just gave an interview on the REKAP podcast which was about as perfect an interview he could have given. And the usual suspects here clowned on it.

I agree that it's critical to set fans' expectations. Spitting on Hahn and KW (and others) as they carry a cardboard box of their belongings out the door would resonate in subsequent hirings. You can play it down all you want, but there were baseball players who vowed to never play for the White Sox (Jim Edmonds, Curt Schilling) based on JR's labor stances. Jim Leyland wouldn't consider a job with the Sox for the way Gene Lamont was treated. It's naive to pretend that kicking executives out the door has no ramifications. I suppose I should insert the inverse of "defending Chris Getz" here. What would that be? Cub-fan? Most of what you said was fine. But you added a line that everybody on this board would repeat ad infinitum had JR said it. I understand that if you admitted that, you would probably melt.

I think the problem is that everybody hates corporate double-speak, which everybody engages in. Fans are mad, and will tee off on Good Morning. Any teams that hasn't made the playoffs for a couple of years endures "sell the team" chants, now. It's a fad.

It certainly was not my recollection last spring that this entire board was duped, and expecting a competitive team, based on Getz's and Reinsdorf's comments. Seriously, did anybody here buy season's tickets based on that?

Actually, you say this out of the gate, and you probably outrage the entire industry. "Oh, now he's going to blame the guy who won the only World Series in the last 100+ years?!?!?" That's a whole lot of finger pointing. And you guys would all have jumped on that as finger-pointing. You're just illustrating how tiny a needle that had to be threaded at that press conference.

We all have the same sources. Maybe it's possible you don't know the whole story of the Vargas/Fedde trade. I mean, if the great Dan Hayes didn't know about the money ask, perhaps it's possible you don't know about some other aspect of their talks. Just sayin'. But of course, your right, and I'm wrong. too funny.

The string you posted from Jimmy said that if the Sox were going to deal with the Twins, and send them money with Fedde (nobody knows how much), they had a different package in mind. Then it never came together. Big deal. I know that all roads must lead to Getz making a horrible deal for you. They got 3 guys back from the Dodgers. The Dodgers apparently weren't on the level about Vargas. People who know more than me called it a player short. If Vargas heals up and can hit, the deal looks better. And really, you don't need to do drive-bys and make people explain every line of their posts to you. Not everything's about you.

Unlike you guys, I don't rely on attendance figures to buck up my own self-confidence. Your energy might be better spent moving on from a single trade rumor from 6 months ago.

Dude, we all have a pretty good idea of what happened from the reporting. All Jimmy said was there was more than Hayes reported. Weird that Hayes didn't report how much money the Twins were asking for. Or transcripts from the telephone calls. I suppose he has his....reasons.

You have no reason to seriously doubt anything. None of this is known. It was leaked by the Twins' front office to a guy who reports on the Twins, just to distract from the fact that the Twins were having a horrible season, couldn't even manage a reasonable trade with a guy you'd claim was robbed blind by the Dodgers. There was no "taking Vargas over Keaschall" move in reality world, any more than Judge, Cole and Rodon were on the table for the rights to Martin Maldonado. Seriously, Zach Wheeler, the Sox' front office, and Wheeler's agent all agreed publicly that the Sox offered more money than the Phillies and he chose the Phillies, and you would fight to the death arguing that everybody on Earth was lying just to cover for Jerry Reinsdorf. But the Twins feed one pliable reporter a line, and now that's like your religion. I get it. You hate Chris Getz for....reasons. You don't get to claim that pigs can flap their meaty legs and fly just because you hate Chris Getz so badly.

Unless Dan Hayes was personally brokering any trade talks between the Sox and Twins, all he knows is what a person from the Twins told him. The Twins leaker told Hayes they "thought" the Sox didn't want to deal within the division. And no, it doesn't sound like the sox could have gotten a better deal with they would only trade within the division. Somebody from the Twins floated Keaschall's name after they failed to get Fedde from the Sox. Boy, if it really turns out the Sox got hosed for Kopech and Fedde, how freaking stupid is the Twins GM to be sitting on his thumb while the Dodgers were picking Getz's pockets? Weird how Dan Hayes' pen seemed to run out of ink before reporting that, which is also as true as Getz having gotten an underwhelming return for Kopech and Fedde. And the season right after wanting the Sox to pay the salary for Fedde, and God knows how many other players on their roster, the Twins decide to cut their budget, and not compete in 2026. All the Twins had to do was agree to the 3 players Getz wanted, and they would probably had swept the entire playoffs, and won the World Series. See what I did there? We can all make up things.
