  1. If the Sox clean house, I can see them taking viable players for the 2025 back. Not as headliners, of course, but a reliever or somebody's SS who is squeezed out as a 4th piece. Do the same thing as this year, just with better players. Then flip everybody at the deadline, again.
  2. That was an amazing trade. Tom Bradley is a forgotten name, but for 2 years, he was so great.
  3. Yeah, and Roland Hemond started doing what Getz is about to do: trade off all the veterans for prospects. The Sox then went on to log 8 of 9 sub-.500 seasons, not posting a winning season until Reinsdorf and Einhorn bought the team.
  4. There's your run, Thorpe. We'll get some champagne on ice while you hold 'em.
  5. At least Brooks Baldwin put a ball in play. Maybe it'll spark some muscle memory.
  6. Watch out for the MLBPA grievance being filed. I thought it was in the last negotiated contract that Witt had to get a hit in every at-bat against the Sox.
  7. I hope to God that in 10 days, we're looking at Sosa, Colas, DeLoach, Fletcher, maybe Ramos, maybe a guy or two from trades. Eloy, Senzel, Benny, Sheets - this is uninspiring.
  8. There have been a few where I think he's alluded to high school kids having some unrealistic demands.
  9. So, it looks like the Sox may have only "punted" on 2 day two picks. Quite a bit different from the draft day narrative.
  10. Seth Lugo threw 7 shutout innings against the Sox in April. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA202404150.shtml
  11. Lowest number of high school kids drafted in the top 20 rounds.
  12. There were 54 MLB ranked kids who went undrafted. Most of them are high schoolers and college sophomores. If they're pie in the sky on their bonus, and they're the 150th ranked prospect in a weak draft class, why not gamble on weirdo reach prospects who have room to grow instead of gumming up the works with unrealistic tweeners?
  13. Here's a Twitter dude, used BTV to balance the value, and he got jumped on by all of Twitter. Not really sure if it was Sox or Cards' fans.
  14. Davis Martin is off the AAA IL, and is starting games. They appear to be getting him stretched out. He pitched 4 innings yesterday. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=martin023dav&type=pgl&year=2024 Scholtens had TJS in spring training, so he most probably won't start rehabbing until next season.
  15. No. A player drafted in this season cannot be part of a trade initiated before the end of the world series.
  16. edit It was a weak draft. Everybody did a lot of reaching.
  17. Who gives a s%*#? You'll still have run differential to pleasure yourself to. Make sure to wash your hands.
  18. Ramos hit the team, sat one day, then started the next 8 games. I imagine Baldwin's up here to play, but if he's clearly overmatched, there's really no reason to watch him strike out 3 times a game for 6 weeks. Development isn't a bumper sticker slogan. Nobody's married to watching a prospect die with an .009 OPS. I feel Baldwin will get a fair shot, and if he's overmatched, they'll ring the bell.
  19. Two walks for Eloy. Royals must have an old scouting report.
