  1. Not a lot of 23-year-old, high-upside arms with 6 years of control and 3 options coming through the waiver wire.
  2. The Sun-Times took down their paywall for election week. These articles should all be accessible.
  3. Just a note that the Sun-Times is opening up their site for election week. Any baseball articles you want to read should be free.
  4. Or there are times that it's easier to slip guys through waivers. Like the deadline for players to be added to the 40-man for the Rule 5 draft.
  5. And after maybe cutting Sheets/Lopez/Anderson/Scholtens/Shewmake and maybe a Crochet trade, they have ample slots on the 40-man to mess around with waiver pick-ups and Rule 5 dudes.
  6. They have 2 slots open on the 40-man after picking up Murfee. They're still good to grab that slightly better 23-year-old if he becomes available.
  7. His 2022 stats look solid. Every player on the field doesn't have to be 21. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/murfepe01.shtml
  8. And there's probably another half dozen Soroka/Flexen types to be had for right near the minimum. Tho Mason Adams and Schultz should be pushing for rotation spots by June.
  9. I'm guessing the White Sox now have the top waiver claim for the entire off-season, and Spring Training. I hope they get some mileage out of that one advantage.
  10. Kind of scary to think that Eloy could also just be done.
  11. * Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete, 2 if the 3 Mexican Roosters of Ranchera. Be kind to yourself, and give a listen: * (not "Latin", I know. widen your horizons)
  12. ....Are these "Getz Fanboys" in the room with us, now?...
  13. He's putting that out there as something that isn't a direct lie. WS2023 doesn't believe a word of what he wrote.
  14. Game 2 of the home series, Travis Jankowski robbed a 3-run Vaughn HR in the bottom of the 9th to save a victory.
  15. Here's an article I found that attempts to explain. https://www.mlb.com/news/demarlo-hale-discusses-role-as-associate-manager
  16. Covey was never with the Brewers, and he never pitched in the post-season. Something happened in Philadelphia, 2023, where his many baserunners didn't score earned runs as much as previous seasons. With expansion looming, 26 more guys like him will sift among the 32 clubs. Dylan Covey is blowout fodder who I think the White Sox have even moved beyond the need for.
  17. Looks like he rehabbed from injury this past year. He's put 1.4-1.5 baserunners on per inning his entire career. Muy mal.
  18. Dylan Covey just signed a major league deal with the Mets. There's another one who got away.
  19. Katz had figured out Kopech. All it took was for Kopech to finally listen to him. This has been thoroughly discussed.
  20. I'm with you, there. These guys bounce around. Maybe Getz was a little jumpy and let some of these guys go too quickly, and hung on way too long on others.
  21. Because the people who meddled are gone? We all seem to have a problem accepting that firing people means they no longer make any decisions.
  22. Half of those guys either were traded without pitching for the Sox, or didn't really get better. Bummer went from insanely horrible to passible. Declan Cronin's numbers were better than Bummers, for heaven's sake, and he was basically Justin Anderson. Banks had worse BB/K numbers. Chavez hasn't been good for anybody but Atlanta for the last 5 years. I'm sure we could make a list of guys who left and became even worse versions of ass. I think it would be fair to say some pitched better, some were worse, and some were as good. You seem to have presented it like every single guy who leaves becomes a top bullpen arm in the game.
