I'm not aware of any excuses. All roads seem to lead back to Chris Getz having done something really bad to you at one point in your life. The Orioles didn't seem to prepare Jackson Holliday to be a major leaguer. Lenyn Sosa had a few extended opportunities in the majors. He sure seems like a AAAA player to me.
-
It is if they aren't seen as a major source of offense. And when Sosa came up, he was kind of portrayed as the guy who is raking at AAA. But he didn't hit for a week, pressed, started making boneheaded mistakes, then he's seen as part of the problem. Right now, I could see bringing Sosa back up and giving him an extended look. Benny, Pham, Sheets, Mendick and Lee are all pretty much producing. DeJong and Lopez are what they're going to be. That's a situation where Sosa won't be making headlines for messing up a rundown.
-
If you think DeJong is bad, wait until you see what Jose Rodriguez and his AA .177/.288/.294 stat line would look like in the majors. When you introduce guys like Fletcher, Sosa or Colas to a 3-20 team, where nobody is hitting, they will fail. The spotlight is right on those guys, they press, and get worse. If you at least have a team of players who can carry their own weight, then you have the opportunity to plug Lenyn Sosa in at 2B or 3B, and let him flail for weeks until he gets his feet under him. You can't run an entire lineup of those guys out there.

It's a good thing they're not hoarding 35 year old OFs. AAA is for stowing guys with experience who could be a 4th OF on the big club for a week in a pinch. Matt Thompson isn't in the tier of arms that is Thorpe, Iriarte, Bush, Eder, Adams, Nastrini, Cannon and Shuster. I think the issue is they paid to take a flyer on Horn, found he wasn't going to be fixed any time soon, and didn't want to pull him back from waivers and cut somebody else.
-
Matt Thompson really isn't a "prospect". With Thorpe, Iriarte, Bush, Eder and Adams in the AA rotation, which one do you bump to get Thompson starts? Thompson, if he stayed with the Sox, was probably bullpen fodder to see if he could throw strikes in shorter outings. The Sox are hoarding that kind of player.

I'm guessing they need another "innings" guy if Soroka and Flexen can't get out of the 5th.
-
It actually is.
-
Not sure. Just found it curious he wasn't seeing game action in Charlotte.
-
I've read that tweet 3 times, and can't find the word "hater".
-
Nope. I predict the bidding starts with Baltimore sending Holliday, Basallo and Mayo.

It's weird that Dominic Fletcher hasn't gotten any plate appearances, or even outfield innings at Charlotte, this weekend. I wonder if he's still in Chicago.
-
After a week of spring training, dudes are still starting every other day, and playing three innings.

The exchange was - first person: BELIEVE: I read this as, "No, Fedde isn't an unknown entity. He was a first rounder, which gives some name recognition, in addition to other factors Fedde has achieved". To claim that his first round status is being used to bolster his possible trade value isn't accurate. I used to think it was just me. Maybe y'all just do this to ramp up the comments.
-
No GM not named Rick Hahn cares about draft order when acquiring assets. I agree with you on that. But BELIEVE used that as one of a list of reasons Fedde wasn't "unknown" - to counter the claim that Fedde wasn't an established name, therefore, he'd have less value. I also agree that if Fedde's showing up on top ten lists of ERA, K/9, etc, he will be highly sought after. I'm beginning to believe that his contract isn't as big a selling point we previously thought it was.
-
The point being made was that teams wouldn't know who he was, so they would ignore any success he was having in his valuation. Fedde's durability is known, and if his upgrades hold until July, he will be sought after.
-
There will be teams on the bubble who will surprise and decide to cash in on the weak pitchers' market. But yeah, guys like Jesus Luzardo probably won't be available, now. Lots of injuries.
-
My guess is that Getz and Bannister would have a better idea of what pitchers to pursue next year, and maybe the bad rumors of a horrible clubhouse die down where some better offensive players might come aboard. Most of the guys you named aren't even controllable after this year, anyway. Pitching's not a problem, in that we got guys near in the pipeline, and could just start Nastrini, Cannon and Thorpe. (Martin?) Hitting's a bit trickier, but Pham and Grossman were available at the end of Spring Training, and guys like Brandon Belt are still unsigned, if you need bats.

He's not calling out the fans. It the "haters" in the media. CBS wrote up a really bad article on the sweep, mocking the White Sox for the hole they're in. I don't need my "news" media mocking the subject of a news story. Report it, then move on. If some reporter wants to dish the snark, get a podcast, and flush the dignity.

Well, it's a better situation to bring any rookies up, into, and if they stumble, they can do it out of the national spotlight. -
Well, it's nice Fedde's done this against Korean League teams his last 3 starts, but wait until he starts facing actual major league baseball teams. Wait a minute...

Seeing a 2-game winning streak is a relief. Seeing Benintendi break out and hit the ball with authority is a relief. No, they're not on their way to the World Series, now, but for those of us who follow the team for enjoyment, this team is finally playing the way we expected it to. Those who can't bear to read those sentences are also the "haters" who demand that nobody be happy until the team outpaces their moving goalposts.

Leone and Tim Hill must have saved Pedro from drowning on a camping trip, or something.

I've only ignored a couple of the Baltimore guys, and some dude who brings up Trever Bauer regularly. WS2023 will be the 4th.
