  1. I don’t disagree. There’s no need to celebrate this move, and there’s no need to complain about it.
  2. But would Slater agree to a minor league deal this early in the offseason? With the White Sox? No chance. The sad and unfortunate state of our team right now is if we like a player like this as a bench piece, we might have to strike this early.
  3. Love this post because of the honesty. I might not agree with you all the time (although I agree more than I disagree), but I enjoy reading your posts because they are intelligent and well thought-out. We could use more posters like you.
  4. When you’re watching on TV and the team can’t score runs, they will always look dead. I actually did think the energy picked up a little bit when Grady arrived. But then it looked like it faded again because they were terrible.
  5. Totally fair, and it’s impossible to argue with that.
  6. Ray Ray, there are people in life who suck at their job, do some self reflection, and then try to do things differently. There are also people who suck and will always suck because they are too stupid or too stubborn to make changes. This hire COULD mean Getz falls into the first category. Do we know that for sure? Of course not. But it’s better than the alternative of hiring from within again or hiring somebody from the Royals again. Like you said, the manager of this team will not make a big difference in the win/loss column, especially this year when the roster is so bad. But it’s ok to at least have some hope that the overall big-picture thought process could be headed in the right direction. Yes, the key word is “could” and none of this could mean anything positive. But there’s nothing wrong with being a little optimistic and having some hope. There’s also nothing wrong with saying “What in the world has this organization ever done to give me hope?” One managerial hire (who I have no clue as to whether they are a good manager) means nothing to me. I always lean toward optimism because that’s how I’m wired.
  7. I don’t know much about him, other than the fact he is coming from the Rangers and that many people here seem to like this move. Other than the obvious reason of this not being an internal hire, what do you all like about him? EDIT: The post right above mine seems to be a solid reason.
  8. Agreed. I honestly don’t even know what the best move would be here. Since we won’t be competing any time soon, should we just let Grady ride it out? Will the young guys at least play hard for Grady?
  9. I agree with this. The only problem is that it seems teams are too hesitant to give up positional prospects now. They might be better off trying to build a top 5 rotation. I’m not sure where the offense would come from, but it might be the best chance at competing.
  10. They have two 3-game winning streaks and one 4-game winning streak.
  11. Wouldn’t your point make more sense if Getz was the one who hired himself? JR is the idiot who hired Getz in the first place, and now Getz is at least trying to do things correctly by hiring from the outside.
  12. First time he’s ever faced adversity in his baseball career. We’ll see what he’s made of. If he turns it around next year, this year will be looked at as a blessing. Obviously a big if, though.
  13. Is Dalquist becoming a decent bullpen guy?
  14. Good summary. Thank you. P.S. Bergolla was the Tanner Banks trade, not the Fedde trade.
  15. Quero with his second AAA home run. https://x.com/notcease/status/1818802603980968243?s=46&t=hCMAMLMYHQoJ8GPQos5khQ
  16. I’ll make sure to count. Should be able to get it done using fingers and toes.
  17. Not getting into shape could be a reason why somebody is injury prone.
  18. Getting this started early. I’m going to end the losing streak with this game thread. I’ll be at the game. First game I’ve been to since game 4 against Houston in 2021. I believe Thorpe is starting. Easy win. You’re welcome.
  19. I feel like the only reason we won that day was because it was a double header. A lot of double headers are split. When’s the last time we played baseball on a specific day and didn’t lose that day?
  20. Same here. When it freezes, I immediately jump to Rosenthal’s and Passan’s account on X to see what happened. Then I’m disappointed when there’s nothing. Then I realize I’m actually relieved because the return will be subpar. I’ve done that 17 times so far today.
  21. There probably are teams willing to buy low. We just can’t afford to sell low.
  22. Who are you referring to? Ripken and Palmeiro?
  23. I doubt we get Perez without Kopech in the trade, so we didn’t get nothing.
  24. I feel like all I’ve read here for the past two months is how Kopech sucks, but now I’m reading how we should have gotten more for him.
  25. I don’t know what you guys are talking about. This offense is STACKED! Robert, Eloy, BENINTENDI! If Vargas hits, and Colson returns to form, we can win at least 52 games next year. EDIT: Forgot about Vaughn. We basically have our entire future lineup figured out.
