You don’t see the irony in how a GM who was promoted undeservingly from within now has the initiative to only hire from outside the org because internal hires must apparently not be the greatest choice?

Your point would make sense if it wasn’t Getz running the show and being in charge of this new initiative.  But alas, the top dog is still just another Jerry minion.

But then you made a joke about grabbing more Royals employees, so you seemingly are aware that the Sox are picking the wrong people?

Wouldn’t your point make more sense if Getz was the one who hired himself? JR is the idiot who hired Getz in the first place, and now Getz is at least trying to do things correctly by hiring from the outside.

Montgomery hitting 206 with a 696 OPS, oof. I hate it here.

First time he’s ever faced adversity in his baseball career. We’ll see what he’s made of. If he turns it around next year, this year will be looked at as a blessing. Obviously a big if, though.

Whole farm playing like they smell free roster spots?

4-0 farm sweep (Kanny postponed), winning by a cumulative 38-14.

Barons won 7-1. Gowens (4IP/1ER) and Schoenle (3IP/0ER) pitched well.

Somewhat rare offensive outburst for Bham as the recent promotions get settled in. Gonzo was 2-5. Goosenberg hit one 444ft, 106 off the bat.

WS won 9-4. Tommy Vail has a tiny 0.75ERA through his first 5 starts/24IP at A+.

Bergolla (Fedde+ trade) has looked good defensively, and is also 4-12 with a walk, 2 SB, and just 1K so far.

Nishida 3-4 with a SB, .409/.458/.409 so far in High A. I want him to be something so badly.

    Kath 3-5 with a 2B and 3RBI.

    Good summary. Thank you.

P.S. Bergolla was the Tanner Banks trade, not the Fedde trade.

We might win this one. Hey Blanco count the fans for us in the third inning. It shouldn't take long. I wanna hear if there are less than 1,500 or so. Thanx.

I’ll make sure to count. Should be able to get it done using fingers and toes.

That video was pretty classless. Eloy was full of joy and seemed like a genuinely decent and nice fun loving guy. I dont blame him for being injury prone....some people just are. I do blame him for not getting himself into shape and not putting in the work necessary to get some loft into his swing.

I wish him well in BAL and I wouldn't be shocked if they unlocked his raw power.

Not getting into shape could be a reason why somebody is injury prone.

    3-21

Last win was 3 weeks ago, tomorrow (7/10)

I feel like the only reason we won that day was because it was a double header. A lot of double headers are split. When’s the last time we played baseball on a specific day and didn’t lose that day?

Every time I’’m like, So now something’s happening.

Same here. When it freezes, I immediately jump to Rosenthal’s and Passan’s account on X to see what happened. Then I’m disappointed when there’s nothing. Then I realize I’m actually relieved because the return will be subpar.

I’ve done that 17 times so far today.

Well, considering he hadn’t given up an earned run in July and only one hit in July; and considering the prices that teams are paying for relievers, yeah we should’ve gotten at least something for him. We got nothing for him.

Tanner Banks will likely be traded tomorrow. We’ll see if we get something for him.

I doubt we get Perez without Kopech in the trade, so we didn’t get nothing.

With all due respect, that's not what yall were saying before the draft.  As for an up the middle player, I'm all for that, but the big get in today's trade wasn't that so how much of a priority is it?

I think the problem with today's trade comes down to the inclusion of Kopech.  It was like a throw in to make the trade fair for the Dodgers.  The trouble is that it was the Cardinals, not the White Sox, who hadn't contributed enough.  And relievers are going for sky high prices, so it's an opportunity lost.

I feel like all I’ve read here for the past two months is how Kopech sucks, but now I’m reading how we should have gotten more for him.

  10. I don’t know what you guys are talking about. This offense is STACKED!

Robert, Eloy, BENINTENDI! If Vargas hits, and Colson returns to form, we can win at least 52 games next year.

EDIT: Forgot about Vaughn. We basically have our entire future lineup figured out.

Like taking a chance on Vargas. Really like both young bats. Those are the types of bats available in this market. The trade still seems at least one player short though. I thought Fedde had more value.

This is basically exactly what I said earlier. Underwhelming return because it feels like a player short, but not nearly the disaster of a trade that most are claiming.

He was at the beginning of 2023. That's a long time ago. That's like calling Colas a top prospect still.

If I just found out we traded Colas for Vargas, I’d be very happy with that. Even though both have faded, I think Vargas has always been more highly regarded, and he’s having a much better year than Colas in 2024.

I understand your point in that prospects can fade, but Vargas can still be a very good player.

    That is actually about right.

Agreed. I’d be pretty happy with that trade.

So the disgust with this trade is Fedde for a top 30-40ish prospect from last year. That seems like it’s light a prospect, but when you combine it with the good return for Kopech and Pham, it’s not as crazy as many are saying.

I’d say overall, it’s a slightly underwhelming return, but not a disaster. But what I can’t figure out is how the Cards managed to get Fedde and Pham for Edman. That’s the bigger head scratcher, not the return that the Sox got.
