He walked the leadoff fucking batter
And then pitched great against the next three batters (not counting the bunt).

Still, Martin having one successful long relief appearance against the non Jays doesn't qualify him for that situation.
I don't even understand why this is a conversation. Martin pitched well! He did his job and got really unlucky on three ridiculous hits.

The lead off walk was not ideal, but Martin pitched great. I’m serious. Made fantastic pitches.

Unluckiest inning imaginable. Fuck.

That was the worst ball/strike call of the year. It’s even worse than the missed strike on Lynn’s pitch last night because at least with that one, the catcher was rising up to throw down to second.

What if both starting pitchers go 6 innings? Does that mean, by default, the home team has to go to their bullpen first?

One guess who has no chance to make that play.
Grandal? Sheets? Madrigal?
(Sorry, that was three guesses)

Maybe. But that play charging in and throwing against your body’s momentum that Moncada makes with relative ease isn’t one he’s particular adept at.
You were saying?

Well yeah, Mendick won’t be Moncada caliber at 3B. But I was simply responding to the suggestion of Harrison at 3B and Mendick at 2B. I’d rather keep Harrison where he has been great defensively.

Does Mendick have the arm for that?
If he has an arm to play SS, he has an arm to play 3B.

I wonder if we’ll see Mendick at second, Harrison at third and Vaughn in right tonight.
Why not leave Harrison at 2B and have Mendick play 3B?

With the draft coming up and Sox having 26th pick i ask the guys/ gals here who know the Draft........is Kumar Rocker a possibility for CWS at 26?
He might be a guy who can pitch out of the bullpen this year.
Just wanted to hear some thoughts on my points above.
Here’s a link to the other thread. And perhaps a mod can move your post/question there

I’ve spent all morning thinking of a good strategy for these next two games, and I think I have it:
Win both and sweep these f*cks.

Interesting. Discussing whether to DFA Harrison?

This has to be the worst performance by a home plate ump all season.

Failure to get a runner in from 3 rd with less than 2 outs. It’s been a curse for the Sox this season. Harrison did not deliver.
Houston blew the exact same opportunity.

I’m really pumped for this game tonight. A 5-1 trip when three of the games were in Houston would be phenomenal. Then we come back home and get TA back.

what "normal leg soreness" warrants 5 days of inactivity? Why was he playing the field then? I just dont get it
The five days could just be because of the rehab stint rules.

Way to step the f*ck up, @Chicago White Sox. Needed these two wins.
Has Jake Burger single handedly won 3 games for us in the last couple of weeks?

What a huge win!! I’m in Greece right now with minimal connection to the real world, but this could be a really large win.

Shit, nice win. I’ve been needing “carrying water” to complete my card.

Yes absolutely, but i fear that hey won't put up much of a fight when they get there, unless they happen to be on a hot streak, and i can't remember the last time that happened.
The only nice thing about getting off to this poor start is that if we do make the playoffs, we’ll likely be trending in the right direction come playoff time.

There’s definitely a high amount of frustration and panic around here right now. I’m curious which people think we make the playoffs and which do not. I don’t want to hear any “ifs”, like “if the offense wakes up…” or “if we get healthy…”.
You are welcome to discuss those things, but I also want a simple yes or no answer from everyone who wants to participate. As we sit here on May 28, gun to your head, do the White Sox make the playoffs this year?
I’ll start: YES

That’s why I said the lead off walk was not ideal. But he made good pitches after that and got EXTREMELY unlucky. And he had the second guy struck out, based on what this ump has been calling all game.
I understand the frustration. And I think it’s human nature to try to place blame when things go wrong, but I don’t believe Martin or Tony’s decision to put Martin in are blame worthy.
P.S. I want Tony gone. Get him the fuck out of here.
