  1. I’m guessing just because there wouldn’t be room in the schedule to fit that in once they delay the season like they want to. You can’t go too far into November.
  2. Thanks, Rick. That didn’t answer my question at all.
  3. This budget can’t be a strict budget, right? Let’s say Bauer wants to sign a five year, $25M deal with the Sox because he loves us so much. We’re not turning that down because of our budget. I realize that’s a ridiculous hypothetical, but I’m using it to ask an honest question. The budget is not 100% cut and dry, right?
  4. I thought that might have happened for a second, but he wouldn’t have added the part about limiting his innings if that was the case.
  5. It “absolutely” means we’re done adding? We must not share the same definition of the word “absolutely”.
  6. Whatever role you guys envisioned Lopez having this year, now we have two guys competing for that role. At only $3M, I don’t mind it. Certainly not exciting, but we need depth. And I still don’t think we’re done adding in the SP department.
  7. Don’t you remember when he “closed” out that Cleveland game near the end of last season?
  8. It’s 4 years. 2024 is a club option year, unless he has two top-3 Cy Young finishes, which would cause it to flip to a mutual option.
  9. Try everything in your power to land Bauer. When that doesn’t work, sign a depth piece to eat sone innings while you see what you have in Cease and Kopech. Then if need be, you make a deal at the deadline for somebody like Marquez. Unless, of course, you can get him now without giving up the big 3.
  10. That’s because the Sox are very good about keeping things hush hush.
  11. Looks like I nailed it with this post.
  12. I also love how people complain about choosing Eaton over Joc as if it was a draft and we could just select whichever player we want. That's not how free agency works. Like somebody mentioned, Joc might have wanted to play every day. Or maybe Joc was asking for more money a month ago and we didn't want to be left with nobody.
  13. I’m assuming he’d get a major league deal somewhere, but I could be wrong. I thought @Harold's Leg Lift was saying he could be a major league deal and then we could also sign some guys to MiLB deals on top of that.
  14. How do you think Bauer would respond to a creative, extended spread contract? Hypothetically, of course.
  15. So if the Angels are out, then is it down to the Mets and White Sox? (Insert three laugh emojis, two love emojis, and one fire emoji)
  16. I think even the people complaining the most think this is a playoff team. They are just annoyed that we aren't taking the next step and spending more to become a legit World Series contender. But remember that we still have the trade deadline. At that point, we will know more about what we have in Cease and Kopech. If we need to make a move at that point to give us another top of the rotation arm, we can do it at the deadline.
  17. It’s either accurate, or there is a motive behind it.
  18. This is a pretty brilliant move to get Stone to tweet these things and lower the expectations of the fans. Now when we sign somebody like Wainwright, people will be a little excited that we added some depth to the rotation. A month ago, people would have been disappointed with a depth arm like that. I don’t believe for a second that the Sox won’t make any more moves.
