Maybe follow KCR this season.

Public help will be infrastructure and pollution remediation. Many of us will be at the cemetery when The 78 opens.

Spring Training - 2/13 Pitchers and Catchers / Sox v. Cubs 2/23/2024
pcq replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I joined up in 1970 which might have been their worst season, 106L. Current state is now football and non-Sox baseball are getting more of my attention as time goes on and maybe soccer is next. I also remember the Milwaukee White Sox of 1968-1969. Had the Seattle Pilots not piloted into County Stadium in 1970, things might have become interesting. Bud Selig might have helped save our team for Chicago. -
Bridgeport/ Armor Square would be an easier site to develop but has done little or nothing to produce hordes of Sox fans. Moving closer to downtown where a lot of people work would provide an upgrade to the Sox image imo. There would be a better opportunity to attract casual fans who are scared of the big bad South Side. Unfortunate but true. I have never had an issue with the South Side or taking the Green Line to games.

Forgot to ask who is paying for it?

RIP Romy.

Silly media tripe. Home plate is far away.

You have a major collaboration looming with roles and categories yet to be determined. Add Chicago graft and profit margins to the mix and you have a very challenging situation. The wild cards are JR and toxic pollution.

I actually heard/read that the Salt Lake ballpark could become their temporary housing. It is generally safe to assume delays with projects of this nature. If you do not have the city fathers on your side, forget it.
-
Sounds like a potentially great setting for our new downtown team. I don't think they will miss Bridgeport too badly.
-
Amazing that it was ever put off. They just don't like their fans.

Connor will get plenty of work when Schriffen is doing network bowling broadcasts. Can't wait until smarmy Steve works out his new shtick with the trainee. Schriffen will angle a new gig with ESPORTS now that he is in demand. MVC babes volleyball could be in the cards.

He figures to be Reinsdorf's turd-polishing minion. Just my guess. Has he ever been to GRF? No connection with anything local of importance to me. Get the cue cards ready.

78 sounds a bit toxic but there are many other obstacles that would require disparate forces to work together effectively. Not sure how likely that is. ?

I would die to see the Sox migrate uptown a bit then a third team shows up to take over The Cell. I suppose certain owners would oppose that effort. In the early days of the NFL only Chicago had two teams.

I remember a team that played in two parks. Anybody remember Block 37 aka Still Life With Shovel.
-
Sludgedump Park would be a fitting name. I have mixed feelings about the whole project because the current park is more than adequate. This project could easily take ten years when you consider all of the political and financial minutia. Best things would be the Target on the corner and walking to the games from downtown. Jerry used to say you cannot spend 50 cents when you are hiding a dollar. Jerry will not be around to throw out the first pitch. He will likely have retired to Puerto Vallarta by then.

How much have the Sox paid back?

There is not a great skyline view from Clark and Roosevelt looking online but plenty of room for Reinsdorf Tower.

Steve Stone Field at OnYourSidePark.

I actually like Sox Park and I think it is nice looking. This problem is like thinking your cousin would be more likeable if he wore nicer clothes. The problem with Sox Park is some of the humans who work there. I would probably convert the owner's lot into a memorial site for the people I would dfa. Problem solved. Oh and the problem with Southside culture and perception might have been addressed by say a real estate developer over the course of 43 years. Maybe.

Since 1970 I have wondered if the bad guys left maybe something better would come along. Chicago should be an anchor franchise of the AL not Ass Clowns Incorporated.

Jerry wants a bunch of skyscrapers around the new yard.

Another free park for the real estate scion?
