  1. A hundred k season would be a wild success for Moncada.
  2. Sorry guys Steve Harvey and Jussie Smollett were not available. Donn Roach mowing them down.
  3. Hey we had to smuggle Donn Roach back from the North Korean League to even be in this position. Now we have Manchado and his protege Fernando anchoring the next superstar infield while the Sox rack up another disabled prospect. The only thing that would atone for this injustice would be Moncada and TA stepping up for the Sox port side IF. Nonetheless Sox host Dodgers today at 2:05 CST on Radio 720. Baseball is back. Let's see what Roach has got. And now I give you Ed Farmer.
  4. I am good with Yonder Hither but Jon Jay sounds like a lateral move at best to compete with Leery Garcia. Sounds like Ervin may be in recovery and we will see how he progresses in spring training. Put him in the 'if healthy' category. Sox are hoping Lightfoot Palka can out-step Avi in RF while they dole out DH duties to the other swingers. Palka Yonder and Abreu in the lineup could at least provide a little offense until Babe Ruth arrives.
  5. Dunn ran into the phenom of bullpen guys throwing in the mid-90's. It was not like that when he started.
  6. Palka spent the last few seasons bulking up and now he has trimmed down. There must be a reason.
  7. You've got a problem with 12 road trips to Detroit Cleveland KC and Minneapolis. I suppose he no longer minds hitting at Petco but he would have better numbers at GRF.
  8. A's and M's dueling on MLBN. Much better than a polar vortex.
  9. Ervin coming here was promised he could work with AJP as incentive.
  10. It might not have been clarified until Monday that the big man could not bear to pay 300M to a free agent. Some of the criticism omits that Rick was not controlling the purse strings. If Kenny had begged it could have happened but he chose not to go there. The Sox cannot afford to make money mistakes like the Yankees have.
  11. Donn Roach will get the start in the Cactus League opener against the Dodgers on Saturday at Camelback Ranch. Jordan Stephens, Jose Ruiz, Thyago Vieira, Ryan Burr and Carson Fulmer also are scheduled to work in that contest. Jordan Guerrero will take the mound for the White Sox in their split-squad contest against the A’s on Saturday in Mesa. He will be followed by Colton Turner, Randall Delgado, Zach Thompson and Evan Marshall. Manager Rick Renteria said it will be “a little bit” before the main guys of his staff get into Cactus League games. “A lot of work will be getting done on the back fields,” Renteria said. “Just continue to move them, working, and then we'll start transitioning and start seeing a lot of those guys getting some work in the regular games.” Renteria wasn’t certain as to the team’s Opening Day starter against the Royals on Mach 28 at Kauffman Stadium.
  12. I think the Sox got jobbed because they were not to willing to go 10/300. They must have thought they could sign him for less. It was a financial decision and not so much a failure of strategy. We know they have not really earned a seat at the big boys table.
  13. They should have clarified no bidding wars. They made a decent offer but reached their limit. Right or wrong who knows.
  14. The excitement will be if any of our suspects can stay healthy enough to develop.
  15. If they did ever leave there would be at least five AL teams lined up to move here. Years ago I was kind of wishing for that.
  16. I think most people expected it would take three-oh-oh mils to sign Manchado without knowing that the Sox were never planning to go there. Mgt should never hype up an FA unless they know they can sign him. That is the crux of our fan base disconnect. Now we know they were likely not serious about Harper.
  17. Not making excuses but did anyone consider the possibility that a ten-year deal is not an acceptable risk for some teams? I suppose it is a given that the winner usually overpays on these deals even for a younger player.
  18. The owner and his partners might snag $1B for a $20M investment.
  19. I won't lament the loss of a ten year deal. Long-term it's not a smart plan.
  20. I have never understood such announcements. Bad day at the office.
  21. Which reminds that the Sox could sign two big names and be tied up in knots for a decade. This is a minor league team in a major league market.
  22. I think where the drama came up short was that the Sox never intended to go to 300. They were semi-serious at best. Manny just waited for someone else to meet his number.
  23. They cannot force people to sign here. You just give it your best. No point in being negative.
