I can tell you the Cubs get a lot more clicks than the Sox which would fall under marketing.

Likely that many big markets rarely take Soxorg seriously based upon history.

Did anyone catch five tweets from Steve Phillips Friday. Does not believe Cubs Phil's Nat's or Dodgers are IN on Harpo. Then he points to the alt Chicago team. Again I would never count on a player who works with Boras. We have no concrete hints that Harpo is headed here.

MLBTR says Machado future up in the air, Yanks focussed on bullpen. The story could have started as a plant. Yet the Yanks were said not to be offering the max money. The rumors could simply reflect the fact that Machado prefers the Yankees. Dan Clark?

Roster sizes cannot keep up with today's strategy needs. It would be nice to allow 3 inactives each game but the owners would not want to pay for that. Present-day roster needs are not being addressed.

Teams really need at least 15 pitchers to strategize in today's game. Have two guys pitch a few innings each game and then use the bullpen. We see starters getting pulled earlier so use a backup starter as a bridge. This is where we are headed.

Expected surprises are rare but I get what you mean. Any deal would be of interest.

I would tend to think money is the first issue, location a close second. Do wealthy players really want to play an extra month of playoffs? Most of them likely do.

Boras makes it clear that there is no team loyalty and players are shopped around to drive the market up. That is his mo. The teams say just give me a number and he strings them along.

I still figure the Sox will go 10/ 350 for either guy and should not go further. I would never get drawn into Scott Boras and his silly games. I would give him 10 minutes on the phone and let him get back to me. You have to draw a line and not cross it. I do not have any locker room sources.

I would have moved the Cubs 30 years ago to a new yard built in the Woodfield Mall parking lot. Leave Chicago to the Sox.

In fairness the other teams got public funding. My issue with the Wrigley project is that most of it was for commercial development and I assume the owners were invested in that as well. I have really grown to despise developers. The idea of the public good or public trust is basically a fraud on taxpayers. Chances are when public officials support a development they have a finanical stake in it. It is rarely for the public good or altruistic.
