If they sign a couple of quality FAs and have two prospects contribute they could compete. Yet they need to add about 25 wins to reach playoff status. Typically White Sox playoff runs are oners with no repeats.
The trainers can't stop young pitchers from trying to throw too hard and people don't like when Coop tells them to rely on other pitches. Some players may get injured because they are too muscle-bound.
I don't think Harper or Machado have any particular connection to this org that would suggest they are coming here. Corbin grew up a Yank fan so he actually would like to play there if given a good offer. The Sox might be players for the next tier of FAs or trade prospects. Somebody who wants to captain a rebuild might not see a lot of progress here either.
His strikeouts were impressive at 153 in 449 PAs but a power guy can be forgiven. I think he has the makeup to improve and stick around for a couple years. Should not start against most lefties but then he showed a knack for coming off the bench. You have to give him a little credit for being a clutch hitter. He is being presented with a challenge and asked to step up. Too bad his glove doesn't really play anywhere.
Then I can only assume you would have no interest in Harper. Yolmer is a perfect exemplar for why the Sox are losers. Now the worst offense got rid of half of its offense. Yawn.
As I understand the Sox may negotiate or non-negotiate with these two players along with Billy Hamilton, Jonathon Schoop and others. Try predicting that outcome.
Generally the bigger the contract the greater the write-off although Machado is young enough to actually play through. Cabrera's contract in Detroit is pretty much a joke at this point.
If pitching staffs grow any further along with strategy for each match-up during the final three innings, then something will have to give. I get sort of restless at games because I cannot change the channel during down time.
Just trying to get with the program. I struggle to find a consensus of what input matters and to what extent but I surmise that each team has its own approach. Theo of course is the Almighty.
Harper exactly 900 career ops . First season to reach 100 rbi had 99 before. How old-timerish. Wondering if lob is still relevant. Some say lob and rbi are random events.
Congrats to Danny Farquhar who has been medically cleared to engage in his chosen profession. Quite a Thanksgiving. Word is there is more than token interest due to his talent for missing bats. Sox resign 1B Matt Skole lacking bodies at the 3A-4A level of play.
Most developments have little respect for the community or its residents. In Oak Park we have ugly towers and structures going up all around downtown which are an insult to its architectural legacy. Payola for sure. We have plenty of garages to park in but nowhere to drive.
