  1. Long contracts are just not smart it is fairly clear. Let the fans complain.
  2. Generally the bigger the contract the greater the write-off although Machado is young enough to actually play through. Cabrera's contract in Detroit is pretty much a joke at this point.
  3. 3B is killing us on the offensive side. LF and RF not much better.
  4. If pitching staffs grow any further along with strategy for each match-up during the final three innings, then something will have to give. I get sort of restless at games because I cannot change the channel during down time.
  5. Just trying to get with the program. I struggle to find a consensus of what input matters and to what extent but I surmise that each team has its own approach. Theo of course is the Almighty.
  6. Harper exactly 900 career ops . First season to reach 100 rbi had 99 before. How old-timerish. Wondering if lob is still relevant. Some say lob and rbi are random events.
  7. Congrats to Danny Farquhar who has been medically cleared to engage in his chosen profession. Quite a Thanksgiving. Word is there is more than token interest due to his talent for missing bats. Sox resign 1B Matt Skole lacking bodies at the 3A-4A level of play.

    Amazon HQ2

Most developments have little respect for the community or its residents. In Oak Park we have ugly towers and structures going up all around downtown which are an insult to its architectural legacy. Payola for sure. We have plenty of garages to park in but nowhere to drive.

    2018 catch-all

Wanted to send thanks to Tim Anderson for being so active in our community and even owns a place not too far from our ballyard. Tim is our Sox best citizen.
  10. Market forces taking over here. Four years and maybe close to 80.
  11. Exactly. He needs a more distinguished name and he is playing in my country now.
  12. I hope Cano wasn't expecting a ring in Seattle.
  13. In the past few I have heard claims that Cease is the top pitching prospect and Elroy is the only challenger to Vlad Jr for rookie of the year. Not bad.
  14. In a lesser light I see three pitchers were signed late October. LHP Ronaldo Guzman is a tender 16 from the DR so he will mature and one day hope to play in their summer league. RHP Evan Marshall is invited to ST age 28 from the D-backs where he amassed a 5.15 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 101 games. RHP Homer Cruz is 19 from the DR with no pro experience. Marshall will be assigned to Coop's project list.
  15. I think it should be more than a circus but less than a regular event. Two-way will become a thing. Check back in about five years.
  16. God forbid we keep someone as a mainstay said the most anonymous org in MLB. But it's a great place to be from said the players. At some point you take a stand and forge an identity.
  17. I would give Rondon a shot failing a big name acquisition and send Slappy Sanchez packing. There may be no room for Nick D in reserve with 13 pitchers suiting up. If a good corner is acquired Avalicious could rotate between OF and DH. He may be better suited for strategic starting and resting. His body doesn't always know where it is going which is why he is injury prone.

    Rebuild

Fangraphs came up with an org WAR feature that puts the Sox at #3 for 2018 behind the Pods and Bravos. The Braves are already in contending mode.
  19. Color me dubious about Harper moving here and especially wondering how a guy making a massive salary would ever fit in. If he saw something special about our program in 2018 I would love to hear about it.
  20. They are in far different roles as everyone else here knows. No one is strategizing how to maximize Engel's development or potential. Just give him a uniform until you give it to someone else.
  21. I try to engage the reader by inviting further input.
  22. Time to embrace your fear. Unfortunate that Adam II is engaged tracking down child predators in Bangkok. Ron Bloomberg is off the market. Brett Lowrie is still in rehab.
  23. It's always a joy when Boras over-plays his hand but I support the players. Trickle-down only works for the elites.
