  1. This lineup without TA and Moncada really tests my gag reflex.
  2. I'm almost positive that the media works on their own to report probable starters 99% of the time. If you have inside knowledge of the team, it has to be the easiest thing in the world to figure out. I mean, once they called up Detwiler, there was only one reason to do so. The rotation is clearly easy to project barring injury. It's not like Ricky is phoning reporters or opposing teams to announce his starter. What's more... why should they announce moves in the morning?
  3. I don't know... There's only so much an organization can take. Alonso had hit that threshold. Maybe a little more leeway if Machado is here, but there's still a fine line when you're killing a team.
  4. I don't think this is something people will remember come the off-season. It's a sh*tty thing to do, but will anyone REALLY be thinking about this over the winter? Will it make a player who otherwise wants to sign here go elsewhere? Nah. It wouldn't have made a difference. Maybe we should have let him stay the weekend, but who knows their reasoning? I'm sure they were aware of it. Eh well... good riddance to that guy. Horrible.
  5. Well, for this team it is. Which was my point.
  6. Yeah, definitely doubtful - barring a sudden injury to an every day first baseman for a team like that. He'll go somewhere, though.
  7. He's more worthy than Alonso right now. Hell, Cordell and Tilson aren't worthy of an MLB roster spot either. It's not like any positional candidates to come up are worthy to begin with, but someone has to.
  8. Some National League team will pick him up, IMO. See if they can get some quality AB's out of him as a pinch hitter vs RHP. Give him some starts in platoon spots. Then yeah... he'll probably wind-up with two pinch hit HR's in the world series or something. ?
  9. McCann could still make it even if Sanchez does. The two teams are clearly going to carry more than one catcher.
  10. Arguing that Rey has been anything other than bad this season is a WIIILLLD take, which will fall apart like a house of cards upon even the slightest of examination.
  11. McCann has truly been a better baseball player than Gary Sanchez
  12. Indeed. It's not like his stuff looks nasty and he's getting a whole lot of swings/misses. Only to shoot himself in the foot with walks or falling behind in counts. He's ahead 0-2/1-2 on a lot of these guys and they're barreling it up no problem. It's getting real rough
  13. Really disheartening watching Lopez just get smacked around every start
  14. If Tilson gets a hit off of Sale. I'll name my son Charlie Tilson
  15. Sorry, but ya had to know Eloy was going to K
  16. I am aware. I've had both. Was simply sharing what a bad sprain took recovery/rehab wise.
  17. I lived in the same condominium complex as Alexei Ramirez in River East from 2010-2012. He lived in the condo directly across from me. He didn't speak much English. Plus, I never tried to talk to him much. Just a friendly hello. My parents always taught me to respect the privacy of celebs/athletes. One day I was walking my dog. Alex Rios, Freddy Garcia and Alexei were all right outside behind his place. I just said "hi" - they looked at me like "Oh, here comes a fan to talk to us". I just let them be... It appeared to be a birthday party for his young daughter. The kids were playing on a slip-n-slide or something and they were drinking a beer. I remember laughing because Sweaty Freddy looked like a bum. Big white t-shirt with a stain on it, crappy jeans and tennis shoes. Alex Rios looked like he walked out of a GQ magazine shoot. I worked in broadcasting for a while and met DJ and Ed Farmer. Nice guys. My father was in real estate and did business with Ron Schueler. I used to go to a good deal of games in his luxury box. Met Reinsdorf there and I'm sure some other scouts, etc. I was very young.
  18. Not really, seeing as he plays through them all.
  19. I had an inverted ankle sprain (holy sh*t, did that hurt) and I needed physical therapy to get back healthy. 4-6 week injury. No clue what that means for a professional athlete. It's no joke, but clearly better than the worst case scenarios we were all running through in our head.
  20. Well, Greinke would solve the right field problem for us as well, right? With his 1000+ OPS (151 OPS+) - he's a two way phenom. So, really... he's killing two birds with one stone. ?
  21. Kevin Roth is worth a follow on Twitter. CHW @ BOS - A very rainy day in Boston, but things do clear out tonight. Models have the heavy rain east of Boston by 7 or 8pm, fully dry by 9'ish. I think they can either play on time and get a little wet or late start and play dry.
  22. I couldn't agree more. The last three days have drained me and last night feels like it was the turning point towards me not really giving a f**k about wins/losses anymore. That being said - when the games starts I'm sure I'll be all in.
  23. Up until the late 00's or so. There were Bears fans who really thought a Ditka return would be a good thing. Probably the same people. lol
  24. Yes, Tim Anderson would have made a different play had the team's record been 5 games better. The problem was he just didn't care enough about the ground ball hit to him in a tie ball game, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs and the bases loaded... at Fenway Park. He was busy thinking about what downtown Boston spot he was going to hit up for dinner. That's probably what happened with the Cardinals runner who was picked off of 2nd to end the game last Thursday. Only explanation. Oh... wait... were they 1 game out of first place in the NL Central that day? That's right. My lord... Stop. lol
