  1. Maybe I am misinterpreting this, but I fail to see how.
  2. Oh, I can 100% understand that. When I played, I was huge on superstition. Obviously, in the military the stakes are 5 million percent higher. When you're in the middle of the action, it makes sense. Not even because of voodoo, but because saying something like "he has a no hitter" or "you're going to hit a home run this at-bat" can make players start to press. From the booth? Eh... whatever.
  3. Okay, I get that. No doubt. However, I was responding to the assertion that the delay is the reason for Stone being able to predict pitches.
  4. Uh... everything is delayed... lol. Are you under the impression that Stone/Jason are calling action that has not happened yet on the TV feed? That's not how it works. That would be a mess. They call the game live and the entire feed... the action... the play-by-play... the color... it's all a few seconds behind. The entire broadcast is. They call it live. He's watching on the monitor as the catcher puts the signs down live, he says them and then the pitch is thrown. It isn't hard... when there isn't a runner on second. All he has to do is know what 1, 2 and 3 fingers going down means. They do not see a pitch/play happen and wait to call it.
  5. Seeing as I don't believe in voodoo - I don't mind that. Sometimes his puns are just too much for me. Other than that, I do like him.
  6. How does that in any way, shape or form aid Stone in stealing the catcher's signs in real time?
  7. That sucked. No excuse for only scratching one across against Sampson through these 5 innings.
  8. I believe they're 4. They're also two under .500... This always happens in the first half of the season. Bunch of teams hovering for that 2nd WC spot. One or two teams always pull away. This just in, Boston is suddenly playing great (hiccup today). Oakland and Cleveland are playing solidly as well. We're not going to be in that bunch. We cannot compete with those rosters for 162 games. Plain and simple. As for Moncada... that's such a lame argument. So, if I name Carson Fulmer in response (actually a pitcher as well) does that make me correct? Where does this cycle end? You can always find exceptions to the rules. The point is that there is absolutely zero reason to rush a struggling young pitcher in AAA up to the big leagues. I am also curious as to why you believe he would magically be effective in the majors? Why? Because he's a prospect and we all hope he will be? Is it because he's simply the "backup quarterback"? I think it's a bit of both... I mean, Despaigne was more effective in Charlotte than Cease. Why couldn't he be just as bad? Also, my main question wasn't answered. I still do not understand how Omar Despaigne sucking makes Dylan Cease ready to pitch in the major leagues. How do the two correlate? Is pretending we're in the wild card hunt more important to you than doing the best thing for Cease? Come on man. This isn't worth it. You're talking about throwing everything ALONG with the kitchen sink at trying to win 80 games instead of 75. Possibly retarding the growth of Cease in the mean time. Why?
  9. Someone explain to me what in the hell Despaigne sucking has to do Dylan Cease's readiness to be a Major League pitcher. That's like saying that dad's too drunk to drive, so we should let the 5 year old do it.
  10. Yeah, this rotation and bottom half of the league offense is prime for a world series run. Ha...
  11. Potentially ruining Dylan Cease is not better than Despaigne.
  12. Guzman should have planted that 3-0 batting practice ball into the rooftop out in right.
  13. That whole slow motion replay was perfect. Anderson standing and watching before bat flipping. Then the camera zooms in on Lynn "SHIT!" I want that as a GIF
  14. Player A: 2.6 WAR .319/.380/.505 136 OPS+ Elite defensive catcher Player B: 2.7 WAR .274/.340/.642 153 OPS+ Defensive prowess of a young Rosie O'Donnell And just like that... the Yankee blinders were lifted! For I was blind, but now I can see! Let there be light! Okay, but in all seriousness... No one would deny that Sanchez has been a little bit better offensively, but when you take into that McCann's defense is night & day at probably the most important defensive position on the field? There is a big time argument for McCann.
  15. Yeah, I was waiting for Eloy and/or Moncada to get under one in that direction. Hopefully tonight.
  16. You know it's bad when you're praying for the return of Dylan Covey. lol
  17. He'll get in, but he's not beating Sanchez. In a fair world, he might. However, Sanchez plays for the Yankees...
  18. At least in this ball park Alonso stands a chance of lifting one into that jet stream blowing towards RF and notching a cheap HR. However, I'm not sure if our offense will be able to overcome the 12 spot Texas posts tonight against Despaigne. ? I get the feeling Despaigne will be blown up and we never see him again. This ball park + the left handed bats Texas has + Omar Despaigne = KA BOOM! Of course, I have predicted a few blow ups for Nova recently that didn't come true. So, I hope I am wrong again.
  19. I swear, Anderson has some of the most forgettable two hit games. That game was frustrating times, but the double play to clinch it was very satisfying. I was very worried with a runner on and Andrus/Mazara due up.
  20. Nearly a .700 slugging percentage in AAA. Certainly worth a look given our current situation.
  21. Fair enough. Maybe I jobbed the Moncada leading off bit. I'll concede. I guess I'm still old school with your best guy at getting on-base leading off. Probably antiquated
  22. McCann has been a revelation with his production from the catcher position, but this is inevitable... right? I would say he's about earned it. I would also like to see Moncada slot back up to lead-off (at least vs LHP) and Anderson permanently hit 2nd. However, Ricky seems married to Leury (despite his low walk rate) and only hitting Anderson 2nd vs LHP. McCann slots into 5th. Leury slides down to 6th or 7th. Abreu sticks in the #3 hole. Moncada gets on more than anyone on the team. Him followed by Anderson/Abreu/Eloy/McCann seemingly is our best offensive attack. However, this other stuff has already been discussed and this thread is about Eloy... so... I sort of digress.
  23. I really hope this isn't the day that Giolito has that poor outing that he's likely due for. I really want this.
  24. Nova has not been bad, at all lately. He certainly isn't the gas can he was to begin the year and has actually resembled what you would expect from a solid back end rotational starter. It's no longer fair to throw his name into the "shit list" when we're talking about bad White Sox starters right now. Lately when he's been out there, we've had a shot. Going back to his terrible Toronto start really.
