  1. This is the second time in a week that we are getting absolutely sliced to pieces by the corpse of Anibal F'ing Sanchez and it's infuriating.
  2. One was nice (2012). 2013 was less nice, but still much better than Alonso. 41 HR's 96 RBI's and an All-Star appearance in 2012... I know his WAR was only 1.6 - but I'd kill for that about now from Alonso. lol Dunn had legitimate power to be reckoned with during his time here. Yeah, he was a pain in the ass a lot of the time - but the f**ker could also run into one at any moment, against any pitcher and shoot it to the moon. You had a legitimate hope for that every AB. Alonso has a very legitimate ability to... uh... line/ground the ball somewhat hard directly into the shift. Then, every once in rare while - he'll accidentally elevate one which sneaks over the wall. Inciting a "Hey, look... holy shit! How about that?" from the crowd. lol
  3. It's the backup quarterback fallacy rearing it's ugly head. He's "the other option" - which looks good when your current option is failing. However, "other options" are usually just that for a reason. We stand to win nothing by rushing him. MAYBE if this team was in a legit "World Series or bust" mode and just lost a top end starter for the season. Then, yeah... I guess perhaps you fire every shot you have in the chamber. But for this team? It makes no sense. A rotation of Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Nova and then one of Covey/Banuelos/Despaigne is light years away from making noise. I like this team and maybe we can hang around .500... make this year fun. But come on...
  4. How many times has Carson Fulmer been brought up the last few years? Irrelevant. How many times has he deserved to be called up? Maybe one... 2017... but it's hard to say affirmatively that he ever looked good down there. Carson Fulmer is a classic case of why you may choose NOT to rush your pitchers up. Which is why I find your analogy here to be very puzzling. What would be the harm in bringing Cease up? What GOOD does it do, exactly? Do you think an unfinished Dylan Cease product is going to turn this team into a World Series contender? What do we stand to win? I don't get it. As far as what we stand to lose. How is a potentially damaged psyche and setback (even ruined) career for you? He gets battered around like a pinball machine. His mechanics never develop as he's constantly pitching under pressure and in trouble. He winds up devolving and never recovering. Do you realize how rare a guy like Giolito is? To get utterly obliterated like he did upon coming up and then suddenly turn around to produce a Cy Young bid? More guys in his shoes like that wind-up like Carson Fulmer than the finished product he now looks like. Young pitchers are delicate. Why are you so intent on forcing him up before he's ready? Before this team is ready for a run? So we can MAYBE win 80 games instead of 77? That's if he actually performs well, I mind you. He could potentially be just as bad as what we have. Would you force your kid into advanced calculus classes before he's mastered basic algebra? Why? So he can feel like an idiot? Cease would of been called up by most MLB teams by now. Quantify this... or please stop saying it. Show me where pitchers with Cease's reoccurring struggles are continually getting plucked up to the majors after 2+ months into his first AAA season to permanently fill a rotational spot. Good luck finding data which will support you. I suspect that you will need a whole lot of it my man. As I stated before, if Cease would of signed the contract extension this past spring, I have no doubt that he would be pitching for the White Sox now. K
  5. I wasn't even aware of what he did today. Outside of the White Sox - I've been doing some family stuff.
  6. I would be ecstatic to relive Dunn compared to this. Dunn actually had a couple of very nice seasons.
  7. His ERA in AAA is 3.34 over 60 innings and 11 starts. However, yeah... he's been a total gas can at the major league level over the past few seasons.
  8. This melodramatic narrative with Cease really needs to stop. Nobody is losing on purpose - certainly not at this point. Cease has been in AAA for a grand total of 3 months. He still can't get his control down, he falls behind hitters, walks them frequently, jacks his pitch count up and hardly ever lasts past the 5th inning at that level. This is not some grave injustice. His progress is coming along fine and he's made progress in his last few starts. However, he is most certainly not dominating at that level. Not rushing a player who is still experiencing struggles early on into AAA is FAR from being an asinine thought process.
  9. Ah, I remember this thread. Good times. Yoan is developing into a stud. When Kopech comes back next year - (with how Giolito is pitching) the Eaton and Sale trades will both be complete as unanimous successes.
  10. Moncada has hit that next level over the past couple of weeks. Let's hope it's for good. Eloy is also 12 for his last 37. HR's in consecutive games. Perhaps he's onto something as well. Chuckie Tilson is what he is, but he had a couple of very nice hits today and an RBI. scored both times he reached. Definitely a big contributor in the win. Rey's performance was really refreshing and desperately needed. I don't care if it was vs KC - he needed anything to inspire some confidence going forward. Kelvin Herrera eats ass... old dog ass
  11. I hope. Comes down to what we get out of Nova. It shouldn't be a struggle to post a handful of runs. But who knows...
  12. Cron was this good last season. If you look at his baseball reference page - he had also been building towards a season like the past two for the first few seasons of his career. His numbers during his final two years in LA were not far behind where he's been at in TB and MIN over a 162 game pace. The Angels stadium is also a horrible place for HR's. Especially for righties. Not that Tampa is much better.
  13. Yeah, it may have been a bit much. I admit. lol Unnecessarily harsh, but eh well... Sorry @Bubba I play daily fantasy every day during baseball season and have been stacking hitters against Homer Bailey for years. I've watched him a lot. The extent of his shittiness is unparalleled among regular Major League starters.
  14. I don't have to wonder this, at all. It's actually not even remotely similar. Homer Bailey has had an ERA over 6 each of the past FOUR seasons. An ERA over 5.50 each of the past FIVE seasons. Combined his ERA is over six in those 5 seasons. His WHIP in those seasons were 1.7, 1.8, 1.7, 1.6 and now 1.5. He has surrendered 12, 13, 11, 12 and 10 hits per 9 innings. Last year he went 1-14 with a 6.09 ERA. This year he has a 6.05 ERA. ERA's of 6.43 6.65 and 5.56 in the seasons prior. Nova has been an above average starter his entire career until his sudden struggles in the first half of 2019. Last year he had a 4.19 ERA with a 1.2 WHIP. The year prior a 4.14. The year prior a 4.17. With WHIP's of 1.2 1.2 and 1.2. Lopez is a young, developing pitcher with coming off a season where he produced a 3.91 ERA and a 1.2 WHIP. Manny Banuelos is a career minor league pitcher with 13 career Major League starts to his name at age 28. I think everyone realizes he does not belong in a Major League rotation. He has remained in the White Sox rotation due to the extent of injuries endured to the staff and may not for much longer. The White Sox, at no point, came into 2019 with the idea of having Manny Banuelos in the rotation. He is a temporary (albeit extremely inefficient) Band-Aid. He will likely never get another look as an MLB starter again. Homer Bailey is 33 years old and you can make the argument he has been the single worst pitcher to start in the MLB on an extended basis... every season... for four consecutive seasons. Yet, he was brought into be apart of a Major League rotation. I do not think I need to explain the difference between that and any of the three pitchers you named. Especially Nova and Lopez. For crying out loud. lol
  15. I don't get how Homer Bailey still has employment in baseball. Must be a real nice fella to have around as company. Nova needs to just not blow up and I like our chances tonight. I'll go ahead and say Yoan stays hot with a couple of XBH's in a juicy matchup. We really need to get back in the win column after two extremely frustrating losses in Washington. That was the kind of series that can start a tumble. You can already feel the little bit of wind it took out of our sails following a really nice week.
  16. Horrific, horrific game that we completely handed away
  17. This team is completely asleep today. No interest in being at the ball park. I knew this would come as a result of yesterday.
  18. Outside of one bad AB early in this game. Yoan has been in the zone recently.
  19. I'm rather glad Eloy didn't make that play. Fans actually have to acknowledge how bad that was, instead of trying to pass it off as a nice sliding catch.
